Join Bailey Adams and Christian Simmons for the 229th episode of the Pegasus Podcast. UCF suffered its worst defeat in the Bounce House since 2015 in a blowout loss to Colorado. Where does the program go from here?
To me this season is just an anti-Hype fest. Whoever is supposed to suck somehow becomes hot (ASU, BYU, Colorado), while team that are heavily favored seem to stumble and fall (Kansas, Utah Don’t think UCF or even the B12 is the only one with this Problem, but it sure has been a season of watching teams get showered with praise only for the mighty to fall. Who put a two touchdown line for UCF, even hardcore homers looked at that with pause IMHO it’s gut check time. We either go okay Florida like we mean business or just accept that basic level bowls at season end is our best outcome
Guys, I’ve been following UCF since 1990. You have the same tunnel vision that I’ve had at times. It doesn’t feel like it after disappointing losses, but we’re making steady progress each year. Each time we’ve moved up a level or to a better conference, we’ve had 2-3 disappointing years and then we steadily advanced from middle of the pack to top of the pile. Malzahn is recruiting well and building more depth than we’ve ever had, which is what we need for 2-3 years and then we’ll be in a position to expect more than he can deliver. Hopefully he’ll be O’Leary 2.0 and will be followed by Frost 2.0. Trust the process and evaluate in the offseason.
Time to rethink strategy. Instead of relying on transfers for one year of eligibility how about developing guys from freshmen on up. Gus has let a lot of good talent go with this strategy and the results are unimpressive. The d is full of veteran transfers and they are garbage
