this guy is a hero! 240Zs was the car which got me into cars and this rally spec car is stunning.

the paved will be worse than the dirt - because there will be jagged pot holes.I had a 260z with the 2.8 but running 240 carbs through a janspeed stainless - sounded fabulous.

I noticed that the Peking to Paris Rally has a marked amount of 240Zs in the running. In the 2016 video, there were at least a half a dozen. Must be the ideal platform for a JDM rally car.

my favorate pekin to paris car will always be the 1907 itala for obvious reasons and im more of a pre war guy in gerneral but this thing is cool

Nice I was wondering about this car. I have a 71' 240Z and the rear disk conversion is a huge help in mountainous areas, the old drums fade. I don't have a bored out motor but I have triple carbs and it's matching numbers, orange. I want an LSD.

In the beginning when you mentioned the bit about octane and compression ratio, I had to pause and look up exactly what that was all about. I now know octane is a measure of resistance to knocking under heat/pressure and not a measure of energy density

Not long ago I joked with my mom saying I was going to track down her old 240 and turn it into a rally car. She was like "you'll never be able to take that thing off road". I'm now thinking its time to prove her wrong!

First thing I think is they break down in the middle of the 10,000 mile race in a strange country motor locks up its 119 degrees out side I hope they have a good tow company .

Looking at the route of this rally it looks like only the first part won't be paved. From Minsk to Paris roads will be perfect. It would make more sense to change to road tires halfway.

+TheSmokingTire, Regarding your comment about changing the mirrors on your Mustang. Have you considered the mirrors from an 89-93 convertible Fox Body? I have seen those adapted to hatchbacks and coupes before, and it is much nicer looking than the stock mirrors. (88 and earlier convertibles share the same Fairmont type mirrors with the hatchbacks & coupes.)

That Z makes 195 HP and it's a 2.7l.. My car is a 1.8l and makes 172HP.. Seems legit. Great car!

This thing could definitely be wider for being a rally car, other than that it looks perfect!

i own a 98 beetle with 10" ground clearance on 29" Khumo MT's ,it was bright yellow i didn't like it so i painted it flat black ^_^

A couple of tips for potential buyers/fans of 240Z cars: .. The one I had in the 1980's was *very* tail happy. If you were expecting it to hang the tail out in a corner you could use it as part of your racing style, .. but if you *weren't* expecting it, and you got surprised, you would be unlikely to correct the slide, and it would do a partial spin and go backwards off the road. (Like in this bad crash: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--wnqL911TzU.html ) ... ... Also, if you were braking very heavily on the tarmac the tail would slide down the camber of the road. You could use it as a quick entry to a corner -- if the corner was in the right direction! ... ... The other thing is that it has an independent rear suspension with *two* universal joints on *both* sides of the differential (plus two more in the drive shaft). So bad joints is a potential weakness on the 240Z .. touch wood! .. I was stranded once in a small rural town when two joints failed after long periods of high-speed driving, and had to wait for replacements to be sent from the nearest city.

This reminds me of Ben Coombs "Survival of the quickest" which was from London to SouthAfrica in a Porsche 924, all the way through the middle east! Check it out matt, its a nice little book.

Off topic 2. When will we see a fast 90's volvo??? I got a 98 v40 t4. Don't know if you got these in the States but there great cars to go fast.

It's too bad Ninco dropped the RAID line, I could totally see HPI repurposing their S30 body to sell a replica of this thing. XD

I would so rock an Alfetta GTV6. Hell if it stayed in one piece, I reckon it could do really well. But then again, a 1965 Giullia Sprint GTA 1600 would bring a tear to me eye. Wow man, the closest I have gotten to this is on Gran Turismo 4 with the Mille Miglia (Thousand Mile Race). The Chevelle and GTA were my absolute favorites. Chris is very fortunate. Good luck man.. One of rare rally events I would truly enjoy in participating. There are quite few 70s cars I would love to drive on that event. Like AR GTAs, or going crazy with some DeTomaso :)
