This is my review of the hard case that I use the Pelican air 1535. It's designed to be the correct size to fit as a carry on on an airplane, however it's still completely practical for a lot of situations and is a very multi-purpose container you can use for a variety of things. I use a predominantly for my video gear like my cameras or lenses and have used it for a couple years and this is my review of how it's held up and who I might recommend this to.
Thank you for watching the video, if you enjoyed it please consider subscribing and liking the video, it helps a tonne. I hope you have and awesome day!

Just FYI you can buy the latches separately and swap them out for either the regular push button ones, or the ones with an integrated TSA approved lock.

Hey Shane, great video! I just got the 1535 case but don't know if I want to get the pick and pluck foam insert or the yellow camera divider you have. I bought it to keep my Mamiya RZ67 and Fuji GSW 690, both medium format film cameras, safe. Do you find the yellow camera insert to be shock absorbing enough to keep your gear from getting rattled? Thanks!

Sorry for the slow reply, I found that if you fit the Velcro inserts well it's very sufficient at absorbing shocks. I've taken it mainly in my car places and I've gone on gravel roads and stuff and it's remarkably well insulated.

@@ShaneBethlehem No worries, I ordered the pick and pluck foam.

Hi Shane! great detailed review, i was wondering can you put the 24-70 GM or the 16-35 GM vertically? thanks!
@ShaneBethlehem
@ShaneBethlehem 3 года назад
Heyo Daniel, no problem, thanks for watching! The 24-70 GM does fit vertically, however that's with the foam insert on the top, cause it's really cozy in there when you close the lid. I don't have the 16-35 currently but based on the sizing I see online for it, it's smaller than the 24-70 so it'll fit too.

I agree this such a great suitcase for camera gears. The only downside is a top handle you mentioned. It is too small.
@ShaneBethlehem
@ShaneBethlehem 3 года назад
Yeah it is so peculiar, the only reason I can think of it being so small is to make it the proper size for an overhead compartment 🤷 otherwise it's great
@bloodymarvelous4790
@bloodymarvelous4790 7 месяцев назад
I think the top handle is only meant to pull the case out of the trunk of your car, or maneuver it about while it lies flat. It's not meant for carrying the case around. The front handle is for carrying the case, and the pull handle is for dragging it across the airport.

@bloodymarvelous4790 if yeah fill it up it’s miss-balanced unfortunately if you lift it by the extendable handle and not using the wheels while the case is full of kit

How do you carry a tripod with the 1535 case Shane?

Depends on the tripod, ultimately tho if it’s a gig where I need to take a tripod it’s on the side of a backpack or in its own carrying bag. One of my tripods can fit inside this case but I find the way to space as a tripod doesn’t need the padding

@@ShaneBethlehem surely we have the technology to design a clip to attach to a pelican case surely
@ShaneBethlehem
@ShaneBethlehem 7 месяцев назад
@comptonstills To be honest, I think it would become a little bit burdensome, because no matter where you put it, it would hamper the portability of the case/make it too big for an overhead compartment on an airplane. Entirely your preference though! I imagine a few Velcro straps and superglue would quite securely keep some sticks on it 👍🏻
