Pelican getaway 110 kayak paddleboard is a budget version of the popular hobie lynx. the pelican getaway is great for quick trip fishing. Easy to load or car top.
While fishing on the pelican getaway 110, one big difference was the reverse drive. pelican’s pedal drive does not reverse. Upgraded to a hobie mirage drive 180 with kick up fins similar to the hobie lynx.
now my pelican getaway kayak is very similar to the hobie lynx

When i started kayak fishing, it was time consuming loading and unloading, but with this paddleboard/kayak. I am able to shove it into the suv and go. I can get into the water quickly. Thanks for watching!

Hi, I saw your other video and you were standing and casting on your getaway. You got a nice well thought rig and I'm wondering how tall are you and are you comfortable standing on it? I wanted to build a kayak similar to yours.

I am 5’9” 175 lbs. i can stand on it very comfortably! The eva foam install helps prevent slipping. If you can find a used pelican getaway. Jump on it. Hopefully i can register the kayak and see how fast it can go to further destinations. Thanks for watching!

Were did u get the plastic thing for your motor that fits perfect ,I cut two pieces of pipe and cable tied to my seat for rod holder's, great set up

I got it from amazon awhile back. I searched Hobie Mirage Drive Cassette Plug. There are lots of hobie watersnake videos and i followed those. Good idea for rod holders. I might try that on the opposite side of the gopro. Thanks for watching!

I did no modifications on the mirage drive or getaway. It just drops in. Other videos on youtube also show the pelican catch as well being able to get the mirage drive for that 180 reverse. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Patents technology. Not sure when hobie loses the reverse capability, but the pelican getaway is excellent. Love these paddleboard/kayak/ pedal drives. Lightweight easy to transport. Thanks for watching

Have you considered the possibility of upgrading your Hydrive to Hobie turbofin? Not sure if it fits.

I did. The video shows me inserting the the mirage drive 180 kick up turbo fins. Thanks for watching. I will try to put out more demo videos on it soon. Also picked up a used nucanoe flint as well The hydrive i dont plan on doing anything with it. Just a backup drive i keep on the kayak. Would be interesting to see if turbo fins can be put on it

I meant replacing a turbo fin on the hydrive. It’s less expensive than buying a 180 drive. Wondering if it will fit
