Thanks a bunch, I REALLY appreciate the insight!!!!! Extremely helpful video! If anyone is reading this prior to watching his video--- DO NOT attempt to take the screws out that are under the top of the frame (as he mentions not to do). Those screws adjust the contact between the rollers and sliding track. Turning those screws too much in the wrong direction can break the plastic rollers and/or sliding track.
I have been searching the the proper way to remove my Pella screen doors to fix a broken roller and replace screens. This was perfect and I can’t believe I didn’t figure it out myself. Maybe you just made it look easy. great info and quick and to the point.
This video is on point. Mine has a lot of screws in the upper track but after inspecting them you can tell which ones hold the front of the bracket on. Pop those out and the door comes right off like he shows.
This was perfect. Thank you. I had a small rock embedded in my track at the bottom. Maybe could have fixed it with our removing the door but I couldn't see it Ana I didn't know what was wrong until I had the door off. Easy easy thanks to your tips. Thanks again
Dude. This video is SO helpful. I’d been grappling with mine, trying to remove those damn screws up top for an hour, to no avail. And then this video! You saved my weekend. Thanks so much!!!!
Heck ya man that’s what it’s all about. I had the same struggle as you and even watched a video that told me to do it wrong! Finally I found the INSTALL video and just went in reverse. Ha!
Thanks very much for this…new home for me and wanted to take it down before winter so I have a clear view of outside (next year will do) Now want to paint the wood so I really had to find out how to take this down…thanks again!
Great video and got the job done for me, so thank you. Question, my mechanism has a string inside, but there is nowhere to attach it to. Is there some piece on the end of the top frame that I might be missing?
Great video. My issue is I have a piece of crown molding covering part of the track so the process in this video doesn't work for me. You mention another video that is more difficult - do you have a link for that video? I have removed my screen with that other method a couple of times, but I can't remember all the steps. Thank you.
There are two types of screens on these doors you are correct on the way you remove this style (style with auto closer/string and spring). There a different style that doesn't have the auto closer built in. In the u track (screen track) as you described on the non auto closer. It'll have a wheel carriage (wheel assembly) that stays in screen track. At the beginning of this video when you referred to another video saying to remove the screws all the way it was referring to that style most likely. As the wheels are not attached to the screen like your style. Removing the screws on the non auto closer the top of the screen will tilt in towards you for removal. So its important to know what style you have. Both can be done the way it shows in the video, but the non auto closer screen can be removed easier if you know you have it.
How do get the string back in the right place. I can't tell how it is installed on the white plastic piece. When I took mine out it just came off before I could see how it went together. I can't tell whuch direction the 2 outside plastic pieces on the frame go.
Thank you for this informative video! Could you tell me how the rubber piece (shown at 1:25) is attached? Mine fell when I removed the door, and I can't figure out what is supposed to secure it at the top of the screen door.
