Can I say if it wasn't for you I would have been completely lost when I had my baby! I am so happy I found your channel! Very informative and thank you for what you are doing!!!!!!
I think a pelvic floor assessment should be standard care for pregnant women as well as a postpartum assessment! This would help so many women avoid so many problems but sadly our healthcare system just doesn’t prioritize this yet😪
Totally agree!!! In some countries such as France, pelvic health physiotherapy is covered for 10 sessions after birth. So great that they acknowledge the importance of healing this part of the body after birth! There are ways to "self-assess" your pelvic floor meanwhile if you feel disconnected from these muscles after birth - here is a video that will guide you through this :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rHwrDdRfQyw.html 💜💜 Good luck Valerie!!
Exactly, but some doctor not even mention that will happen, you will be shamed if you consider not having a vaginal birth but whatever happens after is "it happens with all women is normal"
@@danilamonteiro8746 I know it makes me so angry that pelvic health symptoms are dismissed that way!! Thanks to Bridget for bringing awareness so women can seek help from pelvic floor physio!
Hey there, ...i'm thinking about another pregnancy but I'm worried this might make my pelvic floor issues worse. Is there any good information on this subject?
Hi! I love your channel. I'm a FTM and your videos have been super helpful. I had a C-section and am 9 weeks postpartum. Can you make a video about C-section scar massage? I keep reading about the importance, but doctors don't ever talk about it. I'd like to learn how to best massage and what products to use.
guys is it painfull that much if i have weak pelvic floor ? i'm not quit sure if the pain level that shes talking about as main, i have lower back pain and my left butt really in pain especially piriformece muscle
I struggle with leaks and pain, I was receiving care but my renewal got denied by my insurance. If anybody wants to be accountability buddies please dm me!!
@@beffreenmariwan4491 hi .. please could you tell me if you are ok now.. because I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and my pelvic floor muscles are really weak .. Even I couldn't hold my pee ..I'm really worried about my delivery .🥺
@@shamsahennadesigns6279 don’t worry you won’t have any problems during labour! The pain starts after delivery. Search for pregnancy pelvic floor exercises!
I’m 9 months postpartum and have been avoiding this video like the plague because I was in denial. But then I peed my pants on a run today in leggings that were not moisture wicking 😂 so I’ve been humbled and am now here to learn
Hi Rachel - I am a pelvic health PT working with moms and you're totally not alone in this!! Here is a blog post I wrote to help postpartum women in returning to running: beyond-birthing.com/2020/09/10/postpartum-running-program/ I also have a video about the "pre-requisite" tests to do in order to assess if your body is ready to return to running: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QzNuFY9-kHM.html I am planning on releasing more videos in the future about the specifics of running technique to support the bladder postpartum - stay tuned for this!! But I just want to give you hope that these symptoms can most of the time be fixed with proper running technique and pelvic floor and core strength 💜
Girl I peed myself on a trampoline in the middle of a farm and had to deal with it on an hour ride home too... so embarrassing! But a wake up call that I've got to get my stuff together
Last month I had my second little one ALL natural thanks to you. Your channel is so amazing and helpful. So great full that you are here helping momma’s like me ❤️❤️❤️
This was a great video, very informative! Thank you :) I would love to see a video focused on relaxing the pelvic floor/lengthening for birth! I had such a hard time pushing baby out because I was too tight. I was assessed by a PFS and told I needed to learn how to relax but then the pandemic hit and my specialist closed down before I gave birth so I couldn't go back to see her (ah! lol). I was pushing for 3.5 hours! Up-side I had zero tearing and a very easy post-partum recovery so it was fiiine but for next time I would love to learn. :)
Hi Jamie! Such a great suggestion! I am a pelvic health PT working with the pre and postnatal population and this is always a big part of my teachings - how to relax the pelvic floor! I made a video about perineal stretch to help improving the flexibility of the pelvic floor for birth: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1YVqMIa_73Y.html However you remind me that I will also make a video specifically about visualizing the release of the pelvic floor and how to achieve this. Meanwhile you may want to check this video where I teach different cues to engage and release the pelvic floor: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2hYkIHYRer4.html You want to focus your attention on the release part of the exercise. There's also this video where I explain the 3 different ways to self-assess if your pelvic floor is contracting and releasing properly - again the release part would be where you want to focus your attention while doing these self checks! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rHwrDdRfQyw.html I hope this helps and thanks for your suggestion - I will get on it soon!
Ive been seeing a pelvic PT and at first we were doing kegals only for us to realize I had the opposite issue. Definitely glad my midwife referred me to her.
Thank you so much for all of your videos! You have a gift for explaining things in a simple and personable way! I had a successful home water birth 6 weeks ago and I attribute alot of that to you and your videos. SO much great information!!! and that affirmations were incredibly helpful! Thank you!
Hi Bridget, thank you so much for the work you are doing. Your videos helped me have a completely natural birth and now after watching this video, I could make sense of so many of my postpartum problems. I've started doing these exercises and within 4 weeks I have seen a change. I'm so so glad I came across your channel! Thank you so much!
Ok yall. Im 3 month pp after a c section. I feel like something is still up my cooch and it hurts" discomfort" is this normal? Or is this my pelvic floor broken?
Definitely get checked out. You might have a prolapse. (That’s exactly what it sounds like. This was described in the video a little bit) It can be fixed and worked on, but you definitely do not want it to go unchecked or untreated because it will get worse over time and can cause some issues. Your doctor should be able to refer you to a physiotherapist. I have my first appointment with one here at the end of the month and I’m feeling fine...but It’s something that they should have recommended you do.
You’re not broken though! But for sure get that checked out. Also I recommend waiting on any exercise or heavy lifting or anything straining until you get checked
Hey. Thanks for this video. If it hurts terribly to do these that's probably a sign it's too early right? I'm 9 days postpartum. I also feel like I'm tight already. Could you please suggest what to do to relax pelvic muscles??
Hi! I just released a video about this - so common for the pelvic floor to get tighter after birth (definitely one of the most unknown topic ever...!!) This should help you tremendously! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VGwuW1fMoIk.html
I had pretty severe urinary incontinence during my pregnancy! Any sort of stress- not just sneezing or coughing would cause an issue. I had LOTS of problems when vomiting. I lived in depends. I did a lot of exercises etc while pregnant. I only pushed 3 times and my daughter was born. It took 12 minutes from the time the doctor walked in and found I was 10cm. After she was born- a lot of the issues resolved pretty much immediately. Now- I occasionally have issues- my doctor has prescribed physical therapy- but, unfortunately due to covid most things are limited in my area.
This is so important! I’m seven months postpartum and have been seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist for five months on a weekly basis. I still have a long way to go, but Physio has been amazing. An unbalanced pelvic floor it’s not something you should have to live with. For anyone making excuses about not going for pelvic floor physeal, just know that they can work on your other aches and pains too! I Collett my one stop shop now because we work on pelvic floor, pain in my glutes and thighs, and headaches from shoulder tightness. It actually saves me time.
I think the big focus on pushing for hours during typical hospital labor is what makes it worse. I haven't really had incontinence issues but i didn't push very much for my last 2.
Ive been doing kegels for months , feeling better but please tell me how i can control leakage during laughing? When i cough i dont leak, or jump, its when i laugh a lot and trampoline . Please help thx yes ive seen pelvic floor therapist
Is this the same as SI joint dysfunction? Because I am dealing with this a year later after having my baby. What an ordeal. I’ve been through intense pain.
Hi, thanks for making this video, after normal delivery i got urinary retention problem, my bladder got distended and lost the bladder tone. Will these exercises help in dealing with this problem. Please help?
This is agregat explanation and so important to me now, after giving birth. Your videos helped me prepare as well. Plus, you look gorgeous in this color and light.
I know your comment is a year old, but in case this helps, I just gave birth at TMC (Tucson Medical Center) under the care of the midwife team from El Rio Health, who attend births in that hospital. TMC has a midwifery center in the hospital where women can have water births if they want, but they are also very open to natural birth in the regular Labor & Delivery wing. The nurses on staff at TMC were also fantastic! Or if you need it, El Rio Health in Tucson has physical therapists who specialize in pelvic floor health.
Fantastic upload! Good breathing techniques are really important especially for those struggling with anxiety and panic attacks because they actually work! Keep it up!
4 months postpartum is definitely not to late to start strengthening your pelvic floor! Your pelvic floor is made up of muscles and just like a flabby tricep or shriveled up glut muscle...exercise and some hard work can make them stronger again!
Hi Bridget! Random question, what kind of leggings do you wear? I’m a first time mom (beginning second trimester) and looking for some comfortable maternity clothes. I’ve looked through your videos to see if you have a video for that. If you find time or feel it’s worth it, it would be great to get your feedback on the most comfortable/practical maternity clothes and “new mom” clothes. Thanks so much.
I'm on last days of my pregnancy and I already can say that my pelvic floor is very weak, I have problem when I sneeze or cough, since I got pregnant I'm always using pads in my underwear, I'm honestly scared that I'll not be able to cure it, what if after giving birth it gets worse... Will try these excercises for sure, have high hopes everything will be alright.
Hi, I just gave birth to my son a week ago and I labored terribly. The pain was horrible. Was that how it was supposed to be? I was crying and didn’t sleep for more than 24 hours. I couldn’t think straight at all. The pain was quite traumatic for me but when we brought him home I cried tears of joy in the shower and bedroom where I labored 🥲 I would like a 2nd child but that amount of pain gives me pause.
Hi, I’m not a professional but I am a mom whose read a lot of stories of other women’s experiences and I have my own experience. No two births are totally alike, even for the same woman. There are things you can do to better prepare for birth and manage the pain during labor. If you want a second child, I encourage you not to let fear of pain stop you! Bridget is a great resource on this topic! I hope you’re able to heal well from the trauma of your sons birth. Blessings to you, mama! You got this! ❤️
I also labored horribly, I got a 4th degree tear and am suffering so much at the moment. I think I have a too tight pelvic floor, I think I always have. I feel hopeless.
