Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

Fifteen years ago, I fell in love with the alfaia (like the drum Mestre Joana Cavalcante is playing) and Pernambuco maracatu drumming, I started making them here in Southern California. I was really surprised to see one in this video. Cool stuff.

dear all this song is from Angola and its a song that we used to sing when we were children... it is in kimbundo one of our national laguange. i may find the translation. young generations dont know how to speak national languages im fluent in english and i just know few words in my mothers mother language... shame!

este tipo de música es muy escuchada y bailada en un rinconcito de Colombia, Barranquilla. No se como se llama el ritmo musical, ni sabemos que dicen las letras, pero muchas canciones africanas de este estilo los han acompañado hasta por generaciones

es cantado en lengua Kimbundu (Angola), si no estoy mal la canción original es de 1960 del cantante angoleño Dionisio Rocha, la hizo en para rememorar la cultura y costumbre de su país.
