Another awesome video tutorial, Alphonso! I looked at your drawing, couldn't imagine I could draw anything remotely close. You showed us the basic pyramid shapes of the waves, how to shade them, and voila! I did it!! On to some of your other water tutorials...
i remember when i was watching photos for the old masters drawing and the water was the hardest things to copy thank you for the great tips i hope i will make a progress
Thanks a lot for your patience in recording these tutorials! It is very kind of you to help all those 'little art masters' I sometimes imagine myself to be! 😉
I appreciate how you comment back to every single comment, on top of that you comment back on your older videos! Dude I've said it before, you are the best.
Thank you so much Alphonso. You make magic happen on the paper with your pen, pencils and imagination. You teach with an easy to understand style. I love to draw, but never took any formal lessons. I watched many of your videos and now am applying your lessons to my art and what a difference. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge to help others. Be Blessed.
Simplification is key, huh. It all makes sense now. I haven't used pen to draw anything, except recently at work doing doodles of buildings and renderings of eyes and such. Besides that, I've always used pencil. Pens just always seemed difficult for me to use but your tutorials are really clear and concise. Looking forward to seeing more from you, Alphonso. Good stuff.
Great method and great tutorial, ima have fun with this. This is the first drawing tutorial I've followed that I'm actually happy with what I drew and can draw without referring to the steps with just a bit of practice. Still needs more work but I can see how with practice I'll get better as opposed to "this is too complicated and I can't get it so i'ma try the next tutorial". Subscribed!
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and experience to all of us. I have learned so much that it shows in my work. Have watched all of your lessons, they're great. thanks.
Hey Alphonso your Tutorial of drawing water wave remind me of my child doodling, basic lines are always the fundamental principal of sketching. "Art is Everywhere"..... :)
Bro, your youtube channel is amazing! Thanks so much for your help, it's amazing that lessons of this caliber are free online. Your a great teacher and so generous by sharing your knowledge. I wish you great success in all you do. Thanks.
how, I always think of detail to early when I draw, but I realised now that, I need to think of the bigger picture, and simplicity is key, now I'm able to execute complicated drawings with ease, I'm only 14 and I know I have a long time to practice, but thank you.
Love the way you simplify the complex and get into the form of things. Any chance of a 'Drawing Dogs' tutorial? ie. doggie stuff - running, jumping, rolling, stalking etc.
Awesome tutorial as usual! I wrote you a while back, but RU-vid inbox is weird and linked to G+, maybe you haven't seen it, so I'll post it here instead, if you don't mind: Hey Alphonso! I just wanted you to know that your tutorials are greatly appreciated and put to good use! I'm a self taught artist, still struggling to get out of the hobby area and possibly earn a living from this. I tried different mediums, mostly focusing on logo design and character design in Adobe Illustrator, doing vector graphics. But since I was little I was always doodling away doing pencil sketches. But I always wanted to learn how to work with liners and markers, but never quite knew where to start, and what techniques to apply. Pen and ink is quite difficult to master as is, but I was really struggling with the transition from pencils to liners, especially with shading. Long story short, your tutorials helped me out a great deal, and I've been doing them as often as I possibly can! The shading techniques, the explanation on how to break down complex objects to simple 3D shapes and so on. I'm from Romania, a country in Eastern Europe. It's quite a poor country with an average salary of 300 $/month and art books are quite expensive, so to get all this knowledge for free and with step-by-step instructions is truly invaluable. So please keep up the good work, because it really does make a difference! Here's a link to some of my sketches based on your tutorials, feedback would be greatly appreciated, only if you have the time of course: i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn273/Galador1987/Random%20drawings/linersketch_zps9d2b78e1-1.jpg With respect, Robert P.S.: I hope you won't mind if I make a suggestion. Sometimes I'm really struggling with making out the drawing due to the poor video quality of the camera. The pencil sketches are barely or not visible at all. If you are using a webcam might I suggest an upgrade. I've recently bought this based on many reviews and suggestions from other video enthusiast. I will be using it to make miniature painting video tutorials for Games Workshop miniatures and such. It has a really fast auto-focus and can record up to 1080p quality. It's called Logitech C920 Pro, here's an amazon link: www.amazon.com/Logitech-Webcam-Widescreen-Calling-Recording/dp/B006JH8T3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386012737&sr=8-1&keywords=Logitech+C920+Pro
Alphonso, i´m from Brazil and really liked your vídeo and tips. I guess that now i can finish a draw that i´ve started last year but didn´t have idea of what i should do to put the ocean apperance. Actually after this i still have one problem: the net of the fisherman in my draw. You have a tip for drawing this??? Thank you very much, man. I´m your new fan. Hugs from Brazil, Cadu!
As I was drawing it I really did not see the picture. Took a little break and then omg. I posted on my facebook and already have a couple likes. Thanks your the best.
Omg thanks so much for posting! Do you think you could do a tutorial on drawing jewelry? Or giving tips on becoming an artist? Your tutorials are really helpful, :)
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! My question now is how would you apply this technique if you were drawing a beach scenery where the waters are calm or a lake in a forest?
like because you are awesome. just bought your book! in my drawing class at California state u Northridge, we went outside to sketch. this is helpful to manage information overload for beginners!
Could you redo this explanation, I feel it's great but the whole prism thing in the beginning is a bit confusing and should take some more time to clarify. Also I love your book! I Read it and study it almost every day.
