Someday, not so long from now, humankind will appreciate wood in all its intricacies just as Wookiees do in a galaxy far far away. Woah, I love that hand vise!
That oak really pops and the ebony is the perfect touch. And the worm holes? There is just so much going on here beyond a little Japanese tool box. Well done, sir!
Thank you for sharing. It has been a wait, but well worth it. Honestly, your videos are so peaceful, I would probably get a little enjoyment out of watching a "blooper" video with mistakes, and possibly, a little anger... just to prove you are one of us. Thanks again for posting. Thoroughly enjoyed this video!
I can't decide which is more compelling: The exquisite videography or the amazing craftsmanship. They go together beautifully and the result is magnificent! This is my favorite woodworking channel of all time. 🥰
Zen woodworking. This is the vibe I aim for when I’m making something, but it all too often is punctuated my mistakes, long periods of thinking, and the odd minor injury!
Isn't wood just one of the best materials in the universe? And good to see hand tools in place of machinery. Don't get me wrong, I love machinery... but it's always good to go back to first principles.
Hi, great video! I'm a novice who has picked up the hobby, and used your Cherry Pencil box as an inspiration for the first few boxes that I made for my wife and a few friends. I'll definitely be trying this style out as well, since there's a box I would like to make for myself. My wife is asking me to make a jewelry box for her. Could you help with a simplistic design that I can make with the tools I have? I have a pull saw, hand plane, coping saw, a combo square, and a few clamps. Thanks in advance!
Hello from France ! Merci pour le temps passé à la réalisation de l'objet tout d'abord et du montage de la vidéo d'autre part! You're simply The Boss. Respect 🇨🇵
Nice video. I like the fact that it is actually hand made. To many computers and machines out there today calling it hand made. I really like and appreciate your work.
Takes me back to childhood - one of my sisters had a similar pencil box. You have created something exquisite. A bonnie and a beauty and a joy forever.
Habe das Video sehr genossen. Wunderschönes Holzetuí. Wäre das Schreinerhandwerk in Deutschland nicht Meisterpflichtig, würde ich als nicht gelernter Schreiner sofort damit anfangen.
I made a box like this during covid. I gave it to my wife to keep photos and memorabilia of members of her late family in. Mine was made of ceder with a mahogany wedge.
Great video, I really enjoyed watching it. As a rule I am careful not to use steel wire wool on oak, it can leave tiny flecks of steel in the oak which turn blue/grey over time - I know this from bitter experience! It's exactly the same as when you dilute steel wool in vinegar to create an ebonising solution. A scotch bright pad can be safely used as an alternative.
What a beautiful work of art and functionality. You show so many different techniques in this little box it could have been multiple videos. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
I keep thinking that you are very good bearded brother. I hope that the situation is a little calmer in your area, even if from the news I hear I wouldn't say so. My thoughts and my spirit are there with you.
As always, beautiful work 😎 I have to say that I'm generally not a fan of having music in these types of videos... however, the music you choose and the fact that it's not louder than the sound of you working makes it very enjoyable.
Thank you once again for a beautiful and peaceful video. I love the ebony accent piece, reclaimed, recycled piano key! Your flair for style and contrast is impeccable. Peace
