Great info Robyn! Now is DEFINATELY the time to get the best deals on school supplies so I'm glad you put this video out! I use almost identical items you do when packing 40 pencil packs to donate to the church for their packing purposes. The same pencil packs, split up crayons the same way, a similar number of pencils and always 2 sharpeners! 😆Since these go to the church I STUFF them full and usually include other items like stickers, bookmarks, pins, fun erasers and bracelets I get on sale from Oriental Trading. They are a great resource when their items are on clearance.

Agreed! I almost added the oriental Trading stickers to my list. But I really only add those to my filler pencil packs. Because I usually add an entire sticker pad from dollar tree to my boxes.

Thanks for the inspiration! I also like to pack school supplies ahead of time, and use a variety of bags and containers. Besides the zippered packs, I really like the slim tin pencil cases from DT. I can fit a lot in there (except scissors) and they pack really well into a shoebox; sometimes on its side works best. I also like the plastic snap boxes which can hold a lot of items, including a flashlight, bandaids, and lots more. Sometimes I find them for $1 or less on sale in various stores. Our Walmart had them for 99 cents. One other item I like to include in my pencil packs is paper clips, an assortment of large and small. Also, I sometimes put in index cards, not a whole package, but some. Happy packing!!

Great video Robynn, I bought one package of those Pen and Gear yellow pencils for .47 because I wasn't sure about the quality ,so im relieved to hear you like them. I have an abundance of novelty eraser for this year, thanks to two locally owned discount stores. I got 16 count valentines that came with pencils for .50 cents a box. A few boxes were a dollar but fir 16 pencils it's still a good deal. That is a great deal on those beautiful Christmas bags. Thanks for this helpful information. Love you too❤

So much great information! I have been ordering novelty animal erasers from Temu lately, 10 for around $1.65. The price fluctuates, so you have to catch them when the price goes down. They're called "animal puzzle erasers" and they are super cute. I haven't tried to erase with them, so I don't know how well they work as an actual eraser, but I think they are great little toy items. 😊

Your videos are so informative! Those 100 erasers from Walmart are such a good deal! Here I was about to spend more elsewhere for way less erasers! Thank you! Currently packing shoeboxes and filler pencil packs for the first time!! I also find some pretty good deals on Oriental Trading. 😄

Great video, Robynn! Very helpful- especially for new packers. I prefer Cra Z Art crayons too 😊 However, the price increase to .40 really has me down 😔 So, I am switching to Pen & Gear crayons, which are still .25 at my Walmart. I do put a couple pieces of scotch tape on the boxes to secure them a little better since the boxes are a little flimsier. I just bought some of those P & G scissors today! However, only a couple sets because the JOT brand at DT are a tad cheaper, and, seem to me to be pretty good quality. There, you get 2 in a pack for 1.25 or .63 each. They are cute colors too. Great find on the tote bags from BB & B. TFS, Robynn.

I got some pen and gear crayons this year too. But crazy art are still my favorite. I love those Jot scissors but they aren’t carried constantly in my DTs around here. I grab them when I see them. I especially like them for older kiddos and sewing kits as I think they are actually a little sharper. 😉

I agree about CraZArt crayons. They are my favorite. The colors are vivid and they slide smoothly across the page. I like them better than Crayola, too. Another tidbit of info…I watched a RU-vid video testing heat tolerance of all the crayon brands and CraZArt came out on top 👍. All that said, I’m packing a lot of Pen + Gear crayons in boxes this year, because of the $.25 price point 🤷🏻‍♀️. I do like the fact that you break up the box and include 7 crayons in your pencil packs, though. That definitely stretches the budget and sometimes it’s hard to pack a whole box of crayons. Awesome video! I just got the reward erasers from Walmart for $2 today! I’m waiting to find the crayola colors of the world crayons on sale. I’ve been putting one in each crayon pack.

I love your pencils bags, and the BiC ballpoint pens are awsome for sketching and write fine. But... Please give more colors. At least a pack of 10/12 colors, and Wallmart (now) have 12-pack for only 1 USD. It is not fun for anybody to have a very small amout of colors.... crayons, color pens or....

Have you ever heard of HJ Closeouts? They are an online wholesaler. A lot of the stuff they sell doesn't work for shoeboxes but they have pretty good prices on bulk pens. It's 1000 or 500 at a time, but I really like them.

Good question! I honestly don’t remember when I started but it was in the early 2000’s when I was in college so close to 20 years now. For most of those years I only did one box. Then after I married we started doing one box for each age and gender. Then about 3 years ago during Covid I really turned it into a hobby and now do about 20-30 a year. But one box is as important as a thousand!

School supplies are always fun, I just got myself a Star Wars notebook and Avengers stationry kit, and plan to get another notebook of Minions :) How do you make 7 count crayon kits? 16 isnt dividable by 7, do you always make sure to buy mulipules of 7?

Yes, I try to by in multiples of 7 and if I can’t I always go bigger and use the leftovers for fillers. 😁

I make the same type of crayon packs but I get the bags at Walmart and they fit 8 crayons. So you can make 3 bags with one 24 box of crayons.
