Interesting to see so many old cars they race Never seen that in the states! Even the parking lot becomes a car show by it's self . I just think how cool it would be to have so many cars you have 😩
The Wooden car is indeed wood .Forgotton the guys name but i was in contact with him in the Costin Nathan & Nathan GT plywood chassis race cars.Very clever bloke with aerodynamic ideas..
Old cars should be driven/raced. I've got a modified 1968 MG1300 bored to 1330cc and giving a solid 100bhp. That will see some track days. Not into the show and shine mindset. Another superb video. Cheers Mart, looking forward to seeing the next one!
Thanks for the Pendine coverage Mart, and great that the twin carb conversion did good. Competative on the track, you don't spare the horses (old though they are). The breathing limitations of all sidevalve engines make it difficult to get more power; unless you supercharge it, as a couple of your viewers suggest. More power, less weight, and smaller frontal area required to get closer to Steve Read. So for next year, how about supercharging your biggest engine, and fitting it in Old Rusty??
Hi Andy. The difference in speed between Old Rusty (100mph) and the sedan with the same engine but bored further really brings home the low frontal area bit. The coupe being almost as fast as the sedan 87 against 90mph shows the benefit of a more slippery shape. Not sure of my plans for '25 but I can't see a supercharger in my future. Steve's performance in the chisel nosed T was phenomenal and he says the car has more to give. Thanks for watching old pal.
#270 is the type of car i find really interesting, especially with the Frontenac (Fronty) Head conversion. I have a Dykes automobile instruction book from 1918 which describes methods of building your own 'fronty ford' for relaxation and pleasure...😁😁
Rev clock. I brought a rev clock / hours meter off eBay for mine. It’s battery powered and simply has a cord that wraps around the Ht lead, I glued a strong magnet to the back and just attach it to the dash when I need it.
Another well done from me too, I have looked at the results and from what I can see, had this been a Hillclimb / Sprint that was scored on speed ( Hillclimb and Sprint events are scored on time) , you would have won the class it seems. Do they not have an awards bit at the end, or was that not done due to the Sunday being called off ?. Edit to add. Ah, rather then looking at the classes only, and seeing the main page one, I see they only give awards to new Class Records, rather than the more conventional timed way of 1st in class 2nd and 3rd, New class record ( if applicable) and Fastest time of day. You have some work to then Mart !!, great event anyway.
Quite surprised to see the Zetec powered Model A, did not realise engines like that are permitted, any idea what speed it ran? The coupe was clearly running well.
