Oh, thank you so much. You are so sweet and I am thrilled the videos put out by our little OCC YT community have been inspiring. You are in luck, I already posted, a couple of years ago, a video “How to gift wrap a Shoebox with attached lid”. The link to it is in the description of this very video. You can also find it easily by going to my playlist and clicking on the DIY & How To playlist. As to where I get my shoeboxes… anywhere and everywhere…friends, family, neighbors, occasionally shoe stores (believe it or not, not the easiest way, but DSW came through for me once). If you can become friendly with someone who works at a shoe store, like a manager or assistant manager, that could be a good bet for you. I once had a connection with the manager of the shoe department in JC Pennys and collected a lot of boxes that way a couple of years ago, but she left, so it’s not as easy anymore, as they are not supposed to save boxes. The best way I have collected shoeboxes is by placing a “Empty Shoeboxes Wanted” ad in the app NextDoor. Neighbors in surrounding areas are happy to give up their empty shoeboxes. Sometimes they even drop them off on my doorstep. I’ve also gotten other freebies from that ad, because I tell them what the shoeboxes are for, and a little bit about OCC. I was donated a small, beanie baby collection, still with the tags, a slew of drawstring, tote bags, and a bunch of never used Ipsy cosmetic bags that I used for sewing kits that I made. No, I haven’t seen that beanie baby documentary. I don’t get HBO Max, but I’ll have to try and find it elsewhere. Thanks for letting me know about it. I think I would enjoy it. I have a huge stash of beanie babies that purchased from thrift stores (likely from collectors, as they look brand new, still with tags) and also a donation from a collector in my neighborhood 😁.
