All of this desire for success remains dependent on one thing. That is the head coach's willingness to open his mind and start trying things that he has up to this point, turned a blind eye towards. Everything should be on the table, particularly with some of the most creative players in the league like Crosby, Karlsson and Letang. The mass of new, younger guys should be given the feeling that they have as legitimate a chance to get regular minutes as anyone not named Crosby. It kind of reminds me of a few scenes from Moneyball where the manager just kept ignoring what the GM had put in place but then lamented the lack of success. If Dubas is really trying to bring sustained success back to the Penguins, Sullivan has to be on board 100% and put aside what I believe is a massive ego similar to Mike Babcock's.

Belsky is a moron today (not always). Why would he bring up left wings as a area of strength and then go like this "if the Pens are able to bring somebody in to play top line minutes next to Sidney Crosby". So the Pens don't even have a left wing and need to find someone "new" to play with 87. You to 2 are right, the Pens strength is the left wing. WOW! Now Belsky has Blake Lizotte a center iceman as a 4th line left wing and he "likes that as well". LIZOTTE PLAYS CENTER ICE. There is an article on LA Kings insider about Lizotte playing a little at wing when coming back from injury. It mentions how hasn't played wing for 10 years and he didn't last 1 game before he was back at CENTER. The article is called: With 2 games under his belt, Lizotte is re-adjusting, and still buzzing in the Kings lineup.

I'm still hoping Dubas can swing a trade for Ehlers and Mcgrorty, oh how I'm hoping!

There is no way bell should be above doc for the 1st line lw. Doc works. Keep eller and roll with what you have. Doc-crosby-rust Bunting-malkin-rak ?-hayes-? Laz-eller-acari ?-are any of pull, pusti, bell, poulin, etc That should give you plenty of capability to close out leads with a very solid 4th line and you hope the third line can find a bit of offense with young players giving hayes some juice. You can also move out multiple players at the deadline if we are out.

I just don’t see DOC as anything more than a 3rd liner. If he’s in top 6 the team is in trouble

100% agree. Maybe in a few years DOC can be a consistent top 6 player, but last year I think he was played too much on the 1st line

I feel like lizotte has a huge chance of jumping into the top 6 if rakell goes down or doesn’t improve
