My feelings about Peniscola for year-round living. Is it a good idea or not if you're looking to move to Spain. There are several things to consider about your move, and exactly what you are looking for. Here are my thoughts on Peniscola, both for a visit and for living year-round. Please note that this is the way l personally feel and is not necessarily a blanket view by all, so save the hate messages, and l would say go out and experience it for yourself. The good thing is that the Valencia province as a whole has so many different places to enjoy, so have at it.

Curious about my thoughts on Cullera in the Valencia province? Here is the blog post on that with the cohesive comments left in and the sweary ones deleted. I'm the only one allowed to curse on my blog :-).

Thanks for the video. Could you recommend an area near Valencia that doesn’t shut down for the Winter? We are happy to rent until we find the right place to purchase. Purchase price is €200,000 including taxes etc. Thanks

Hi, I think your best bet would be Gandia. It's about a 50 min ride on the train from Valencia. You can still find something in that price range too (for now). Good luck :-)

It’s so ridiculous & outrageous how people want to control your personal opinion. Screw that. You’re entitled to think and assess anything on your own and freely express it. Those of us who follow you value seeing your videos and hearing your opinions. We are not all so narrow minded as to think that we might see it differently ourselves but it helps to hear your take on it then afterwards decide for ourselves. Thanks for videos. I enjoy them. P.S. I’m born n raised in NYC so yes I would def be bored if I were there all year round.

Oh for sure you would be bored then... haha! Thanks for the words. I was kind of bummed for a bit with that article, but l don't understand why someone wouldn't think others are capable of making their own decisions. If we all liked the same things, life would be boring as heck. My blog has never gotten any bigger than it is because l refuse to do the same blowing smoke up people's butts that seem to get the big numbers, and I'm okay with that. I refuse to change :-). Thanks for watching.

I completely agree. I visited Peniscola during the off season. I visited with friends and we desperately had to search for food to eat out. We did venture to Valencia. I later decided on Torremolinos and subsequently purchased as place.

A friend told me the same thing. They could not find a place to eat in the offseason :-). How do you like Torremolinos? Another place l would like to visit for sure and one we didn't make it to when we lived in Malaga. So many places, and so little time.

You surely brought up some things that folks might not have thought of for making a determination on retirement.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Thank you for your valuable comments. I'm a 63 yr old Spaniard and I'm considering moving to a place near the coast for my retirement with my wife. So your comments are valuable even for us locals.

I think that if your first, gut feeling about is bad, even if you spend more days it won't improve. There are places you just know you wouldn't like. And you have valid points that do make sense. Resort type of towns are usually only good during the summer - and only if you're a short term tourist imho.

Very true indeed. When you know, you just know. There are so many more places that fit so you shouldn't try to change things.

Thanks for making this video. I had thought about exploring a city such as this north of Valencia but it sounds like this is not the right place for retirement. I am sure I would be bored. Plus it is not directly on the train line. But it looks like a wonderful beach, as you said. I hope you can keep exploring and show us more places in Spain. And you can return for a US visit when the time is right.

Thank you too, Thomas. I don't think it would be a good place to live year-round. Even the taxis stop running and we waited at the taxi stand for 40 minutes before one passed us by (with passengers) who he had to go drop off and then swing by. We called the number, as did the other girls waiting but no one came. The cab driver said Monday was their busy day go figure. It is definitely a wonderful beach, among others they have, and is worthy of a visit. Yeah, at this point, l am not going through any hoops to travel, just not worth it to me. Stay safe!

Wow! You provided so much important information and if anything you were diplomatic because you stated that it was your own opinion Most urban people would be bored if they were hoping to stay there all year long I am sure. No or little Spanish would really work against you not just in integrating but in getting health care! Many of the details you gave Re the 9 month leases pretty much say it all. Sounds like most people from outside Spain would be better served by moving to an urban or suburban area and going there for a little getaway of a week or more. Thanks for your candor and keep up the good work. Signed Watching from Montreal!

Yes, I definitely think the wise thing to do is move to a bigger city, to begin with, get used to life in another country, then check out other places. This is definitely something l try to stress to people. It's very hard to sell houses once you buy, and people/realtors will tell you what you want to hear, not what's good for you. Not having a hospital nearby should be a dealbreaker, especially when you're not fluent in the language. Thanks for watching Mary. I appreciate it :-).

@@nextbiteoflife Your training is in Pharmacy . .correct? I think health care is one of the key quality of life characteristics that sets Spain apart. However, to take advantage, as you well realize, the patient has to communicate clearly because service providers are seldom mind readers Just a thought! Have a wonderful week! Mary
