I just bought a PENN BATTLE III 8000 HS reel that was sitting at a Cabela’s by me for a while (the Spin Fisher VI 8500 is still there too for $229) bought my PENN BATTLE III 8000 HS for $160. I LOVE ❤ IT! I have it spooled up with 375 yards of 80lb Suffix 832 Advanced Superline. The reel just feels so strong, durable, well built and powerful. I have not caught anything big yet. Maybe because I have 7 setups ( 3 GX2’s and a couple Berkley Big Game Power Series rods with PENN Fierce reels on them) that I use alot. But when I want to go B1G, you know what I’m grabbing. 😎
Just picked up three for me and the kids. Amazon has them for $82. Wasn't sure if we should stick with the HS but after this video we did for dock fishing. Thank you.
Great review Brad, Might I suggest if your still in the market, checkout the Penn Battle III DX, the DX stands for dealer exclusive, nicely upgraded from the standard Battle III with CNC cut Brass pinion and main gears rather than aluminum and an extra sealed stainless steel ball bearing under the spool for increased stability and support, all for around $5.00 more. I believe the gear ratio is 6:2:1. I have two in the 3000 and 4000 size and they are incredible for the money. Weight is about the same as the stand but paired with the St Croix Mojo like you are using I’m sure they would balance well. Great video, thanks for posting!👍👍👍
@@jelmo1057 Been fishing the Battle II and Fierce II 4000 for nearly 10 years out of Big Bend Florida, and the Battle has been outstanding. Fierce cast aluminum main gears give out and I've replaced them all due to saltwater corrosion. The Battle II's have held up a little longer. I LOVE that the DX has brass main gear...gonna try that! My main gears have taken a beating to being in skinny water close to shore with the bull reds.
I have a couple of Penn Fierce live liners that I use for croaker fishing for trout. Penn makes some great reels. I'll definitely check out the Battle III. Also man for the content you put out you should definitely have more subscribers.
Thank you Sir, we are confident we will grow as time passes. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching!!! Share with all your fishing Buddies too..LOL
Nice review! I have a battle 2, 2500 , it’s a beast 30# braid . No arguments here. Thanks for sharing your research info with us (save someone some time) ✌️
Nice reveiw. I have a PENN fierce jig jigging rod with PENN battle 3 HS 6000 . Does this combo handle big fish . I am concerned about the reels drag ratio.
Yes the drag on the 6000 is sufficient for some large fish!! We have caught large reds in Texas and jacks in Costa Rica. Coupled with some 30lb braid it's a beast of a combo
I prefer the Moss Green Power pro but I really don't think the line color matters. More of a personal preference, Corey lives the Baby Blue power pro and she out fished most days!!
I get all geeked out on specs and rattle them off the the gf. She doesnt care. lol. The little lews custom pro I just bought her has 20# on a 2000 and she isnt impressed
