I’ve just bought one of these. I’m going to Norway in January and my mates are inferring it won’t be powerful enough. They’re all Saltist BG30H fans…which are rarer than hens teeth. So after reading around I bought one in view to it being more than suitable…but then my mates had me doubting myself so I started thinking I’d gone and potentially bought a clean beach only reel. Your commentary has given me heart so thank you!
It will land anything that a Bg30 will handle, these reels are ok but the build is quite poor with them by that I mean the internals but that said mine is still going strong.
I'm running the Penn Fathom 25NSD here in Oregon on a clunky 12' Penn Batallion surf rod. Can you recommend a proper rod, and a website? I swap this reel to St. Croix rods for kayak ocean work, a dual purpose reel. Good video.
No .. thats impossible due to the make up of the mag assembly in reel . Alternatively is to buy a smaller control knob for the mag control, the same as the fathom 15's.They are easy enough to purchase and fit.
Great review. Dont the manufacurers / Designers of these reels actually cast it at least once and go...why put knob there ? it beggars the imagination how with all the R&D they do they cant figure that out...
