26:45 - Having trouble getting your spinning reel spool back on the reel's shaft? Or having issues getting a drag knob on your reel? First make sure the spool is properly seated all of the way. Get the drag stack aligned first and then drop on the spool. Does it click? If not try again.

Great review. I just got a Clash 2 HDS 3000 size for xmas and put it on a St. Croix 7ft Legend Tournment Inshore rod...after using it just a couple times, it’s now my favorite inshore rig. It’s much smoother than I was expecting.

Ordered a 2500 today cause of this review, very in depth review, made it clear it had what I was looking for, power and durability, first mid section spinning reel been fishing 1 year with entry level want to step up, pairing with 7 foot fenwick ML, will be putting on 15lb power pro with 8 lb leader, my utility go to Rod now, I’m freshwater fishing for large mouth. Just bought 1, for my pike fishing in the uk 30 grm/80grm shimano fireblood rod. 40 lb braid. Reel not arrived yet. Hope it goes well. Great reel review😀

Fish in NY Long Island shore. We use Penns and Daiwa BG almost exclusively. Because you don't want a failure on a beach with ruff surf with a 30-pound blue dragging you into the depths.

I had a clash 1 6000 I loved it till the little idler gear broke and caused catastrophic failure lol snapped the post off chipped the crosswind gear needed a new case and gear all together

Just curious, what do you consider doing maintenance to your spinning reels? I live in the New Smyrna Beach, Fl area and don't shut down for winter. Matter of fact, inshore, the snook bite has been insane, best in years and the same offshore for wahoo! Really like my Clash II 2500 and 4000. Like my Slammer III reels even more! 4k, 5k 8k and 8k HS. Penn all the way! Oh two speed Squalls for offshore trolling and bottom. Six 30's and two 50's... C'mon down anytime! Oh yeah, I do have a Diawa Saltist 7k too!

Hi DJ - I've got family in Ormond Beach so I'm infrequently in your area. As fas a reel maintenance I would suggest periodically cleaning and lubricating the entire reel. Depending on how much use and abuse the reel(s) take this could be once a year, once a season or once every month or two. Preventative maintenance go a long way! Clean things up, oiling bearings, greasing gears. Do not grease or oil clutch bearings. There's a special lubricant for them. Common oils and greases hinder their performance and can cause failure. On spinning reels the line rollers gets lots of water and abuse. It's common to have line roller bearings freeze up (keep new/good ones oiled), line rollers wear and the screw is commonly seized up (grease it). Internally it's pretty straight forward; disassemble, clean (degrease), re-grease and reassemble. Handle knobs usually need a light oil. Drags usually needs to be cleaned up, replace cloth washers if worn/dirty. Metal washer usually clean up easily. They can be reused so long as good/clean/smooth. For lever drag reels you'll want to clean and grease the clicker (check for wear). Disassemble, clean (degrease), re-grease and reassemble. Be sure the bridge assembly is clean and greased. Lightly grease the spool shaft, gears and gear stud, oil the spool bearings. Remove all side plate screws and side plate rings to clean and lightly grease. Be sure to pull all bearings out and lightly grease the area where they seat (to prevent difficult removal at next service). Clean where the foot and body meet (common area where salt builds up and corrosion occurs because to different metals stainless/aluminum). Oil handle knob as well as the free, strike, full buttons. I'm sure I'm missing something... hope this helps. I had mine for less than 30 days and I already had bearing or line roller issues. Every time a fish pulls on my line the drag makes a noise as if it is really rusty 😣 any advice?

Sorry just saw your comment. You can send your reel into us and we can fix it. We can also send you parts to fix DIY. I can't 100% say everything that is wrong as it could have more than one issue. Yes the line roller can freeze up, which sometimes can be fixed with a simple cleaning but most of the time the line roller bearing needs to be replaced. As far as the drag, that is a simple clean/replacement of the washers however a 30-90 day old reel most likely doesn't not have burned out drags unless you really hooked into some drag screamers and smoked it. I will assume it could have gotten wet/salty/sandy and needs a cleaning. OR It could be the clutch aka anti-reverse roller bearing. When the get wet they tend to get loud especially under load. Sometimes these roller bearings last a while and other times they crap out quick. Hope that helps. If you need further assistance please give us a call at the shop 16094945739.

haven't see problems with them yet. As far as me fishing them I don't have a lot of time on one, just a couple sessions. Hoping to put the screws to them this spring and summer.

Thinking about getting this one. I bought the Shimano Vanford, but too much noise/scratching and wobble, so I've returned it. How does it compare to Daiwa Ballistic or others in that price range?

The Penn Clash and the Daiwa Ballistic are two great reels. They would make a great head to head match up video! Maybe one day if I find the time I'll crack it out for you. It's good because I own both of them.
