Other act are funny because it's what the media/tv telling us what is funny. But this dude is a genius Let's talk about other things bc the magic is pure
@@rvkit2873 You can simultaneously see and hear him react a couple times in the video. It's coming from someone else's mic, so it would have to be someone on stage anyway
The best thing about the "candy bar" is that it looks like a deck of cards in his pocket. Any magician would expect him to be carrying a second deck for a deck switch, so when he reveals it's actually just chocolate, Penn and Teller burst into laughter.
@@AntonAdelson imo Penn and Teller would appreciate this even more since they're masters at misdirecting you even though you know what to look for. Check out their take on the classic cup and balls trick with clear plastic cups. You can see the sleight of hand as it happens, but it's still absolutely magical.
@@AntonAdelson Not necessarily, although possible. He also does the fake sleight of hand with the empty hand on his chin. After all, the routine was designed to first and foremost impress and entertain magicians (at FISM, not P&T), not a regular audience.
He does a switch later at 4:18. The whole act is very clever: He draws over the signature so that he can easily forge signed cards. Then halfay in the trick he does this switch. Then the "pause" is just misdirection, to make you forget about what happened. The fact that some seemingly random cards are face up, plus that he flips the kings and another random card, makes you think it's a normal deck, and marries well with the chaotic style. But the forged signed cards were here since this instant, and there is just no way you can trace it back if you're seeing it the first (or 5th) time because of all the chaos, even if the switch itself is not really hidden.
@@twinklesprinkle1318 Yep, that's more or less exactly what I wrote in my another comment here! But you gave a lot more details! Thank you! This whole thing is like 10 minutes of pure non-stop misdirection master-class!
P&T's reaction to the candy bar is so good, because you know that they clocked that shape in his pocket as a second deck the moment they saw him. Markobi is a real magician's magician.
@@Pandor18 Oh absolutely, same excellence as Shin Lim, Dani Daortiz, Asi Wind, and probably Mario Lopez also has to be mentioned here. I fucking love magic!
Unless I am mistaken, apart from Richard Turner's act, this is the only other close-up magic act in which they immediately went to the 'you fooled us' verdict.. without engaging in all the coded banter which Penn does post the act.
@@sailaabyou are indeed mistaken and you should go watch the dani daoritz fool us as long with this performance the 2 best magicians ever on fool us and 2 of the best magicians alive. what an awesome little homage to dani with the "it's your life" line bravo
the two best performances ever on fool us giving tribute to each other makes me so happy. the smile on my face when he said it's your life was ear to ear. great recognize great.
i'm not sure but i think most of those cards and probably all on the side close to penn where kings signed like brook normally does and his 'squiggle' and he's good at just showing the few that aren't etc. it looks like the card penn initially choose was also a king signed card as he lays it down for a split second.. i'm probably totally wrong haha
@@serloinz Considering this is the same routine he did at FISM, penn and teller has prob studied that video 100 times and not figured it out. So probably it is not as easy as a bunch of same cards.
@@mullvaden83 well maybe it's a case of overlooking the simplest answer ..most of what he did would be so much easier if all (except a select few) were signed kings. Again i have no idea.. just a though
10 Seasons of Fool Us and I have never seen Teller break character. He was so shocked by this trick that he actually shouted. There has been a few card tricks that really got them good but judging by Tellers reaction this was by far the best.
Not the first time. I remember once, with a similar close-up card trick like this one, Penn & Teller barely left the stage before deciding they were fooled, immediately turned around and announced it, never made it back to their seats 😅 I think it was Richard Turner?
Penn and Teller are literal masters at slight-of-hand. Penn was studiously watching your every move and couldn't figure it out. Teller was amazed time after time. Fantastic job Markobi, thank you and congratulations!
Being the world champion of magic is clearly not a joke. Amazing. Been waiting for this and I'm so happy for all those who are seeing this for the first time. It's awesome isn't it. Welcome to the Markotrain
Love that he broke teller. Full belly laugh. Saw this at the worlds is just as baffling now. The skill required to make something so sophisticated look so shoddy is immense. Of course and it still work Bravo sir.
I always think in your fism act what happen if spectator change the card in the last part. And boom this happen in fool us. Markobi you are crazy. Thanks for show. Keep going you are the one of the best magician in the world.
As someone who you would call a casual magic enjoyer, Markobi and this routine has to be favorite. It gives the illusion that it's incredibly easy and I could do it. But from what I've learned from other people, this is really technical and takes years to master. Most of us let our guards down the moment we see or hear him. What I like about this whole concept is that it proves a great saying and it goes: "looks can be deceiving". Thank you, champ, for your magic. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I longed for this day ever since I saw your FISM act and it was just as magnificent as I thought it would be. Your style and your skill is absolute perfection. I can watch this act a million times and never get bored of it
it is so refreshing that you didnt give away the result in the title. i understand why most people do. but its much more enjoyable when you don't. This act was incredible. Also i loved that comment "can I change cards" "its your life"
J'ai saigné youtube à le regarder encore et encore jusqu'à ses indispensables conseils de vie que j'utilise dans mon travail de médecin urgentiste. Bravo à toi pour ta routine et vivement ta prochaine visite à Bordeaux!?
I was hoping you would go to fool us, I was hoping you would show off my favorite routine ive seen like 20 times now, I was hoping you would win... Boy this is the best day of my week
I saw the original FISM routine and it still holds up as one of the greatest feats of table card magic I’ve ever seen. He’s a phenom. Much respect mon homme
WOOW WOOW man, what a performance. The original one blows me away. This one blow me even more, especially when Penn actually changes his mind. I think this is the most time I wanted Penn to comment on you. But unfortunately, he didn't. Bravo and well-done dude. Respect from Oman.
ive watched this routine many times and it never fails to entertain and blow my mind but despite the insane level of skill in this act the best moment by far was when he said its your life and waved to dani daoritz.
🎉🎉🎉 Hi 👋🏼 Master of Cards Mr. Markobi I Have been sharing your videos with so many people since I found out about you about a year ago. I Just sent This one to my Sweet Mommy who will be 96 years old soon and she absolutely loved it. You’re the BEST of the BEST and I love your sense of humor that you put into your shows. I’ve watched every single video you’ve put out and have watched this routine several times and of course I have to watch them over and over again because you just blow my mind. Blessings from Paso Robles, California, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸.
Having seen this at FISM, it blew my mind then, and still does. But, to have Penn switch on you, and still land the fish... my oh my, even better :) Literally, world class!!
It’s one of those things where you know what he has to be doing, but it’s not possible, so either he is doing something impossible, or he’s not doing what it looks like he is doing. Magic.
@@azzaKaiapoi That's exactly it. Him being nonchalant with the cards and seemingly having them turn over at random is what makes the trick what it is and lulls you away from the explanation. If he was being meticulous with the cards and the packets, you'd immediately think that the deck wasn't genuine.
Ya know, there are some tricks I want to learn how they were done, but this? I never wanna know how this was done, so each time I rewatch it I am amazed again and again.
I don't know you, but it is pretty rare to see in P and T show such standing ovation from the audience. I watched the fism contest couple years before and seeing it live again, I thought "Damn, he will get them good" :) Merci bcp Mr Markobi. J'espere que cette video va rajouter beaucoup de visibilité et de nombreux contracts :)
So good, Lennart Green is preemptively rolling over in his grave. Just an astonishing performance. The controls and misdirection are just at the tip top of the trade. Bravo, Mark! 👏👏👏
Yes he very much is, I’m aware. I must have misspelled preemptively and my phone thought that I was trying to say preeminently. Appreciate you for pointing that out so much. All fixed now. 🫡
I guess his "uncle" (which is "not realy his uncle, it's for the script") like the kudos of this FISM act feom markobi 🎉 You know the only that shows him "how to find kings" 😂 My only question is : how much geeky reference/kudos to other closeup magician is there here in front of us, 5 ? More ?
I know enough about magic to understand a lot of how the tricks are done. They're still amazingly executed but you respect the craft because you know how hard it is to master. Sometimes, though, people like Mark come along and make you question absolutely everything you know about magic. The man is a genius. The whole act is so smart and well crafted it's impossible to not simply get lost in the spectacle and forget to analyse his techniques. Just, mind blowingly good.
The deck switch at 4:18 is so smartly done 😊 in the previous pack, markobi was showing that all the cards were different, then switched with a pack that contains few cards side up and lot of signed cards…but how Markobi managed to put the remaining 3 K at the position 5 of each pack in such a chaotic way is simply amazing!
@@Conqoo you mean when Markobi reveal the signed king of clubs? I don't think there is any switch. My guess is that the switched deck contains only pre-signed KC except for the few cards that have been displayed face up on purpose and the bottom card. Therefore, Penn could have selected any face down card and it would have been a KC. To confirm my theory: 1. the card displayed by Markobi is clearly not the same as the one that Brooke and Markobi signed. 2. After the deck switch I didn't see any move that are reversing the orientation of cards, therefore some cards were already face up in the switched deck. 3. Many actions/elements have been added by Markobi after the deck switch. This is so smart as usually the trick happens right after the switch. In this case the effect happened over 3 minutes after the switch. People already have forgotten that a card switch happened or didn't even linked the 4:18 move as a deck switch opportunity but rather an effect showing the transformation of a deck of cards into a single one.
Of course, "K" was a forced card and more "K" cards were described - the description of the first "K" is not the same as the description "K" at the end. The "awkwardness" was supposed to convince that the cards were different. It is a good trick that requires an obedient audience, which Penn and Teller are - they never look at cards if they are not invited. The trophy had to be handed over because Penn guessing deck replacement. However, this trick does not require such a switch - the magician made several tricks "from his pocket" in advance to convince the audience of this possibility. The magician is a very knowledgeable man and deserves the trophy.
Had me mesmerized for the trick. Had me floored by the finale! Been watching this show for a while and sometimes I fool myself into thinking I know the trick, this just seemed like pure magic!
I've been a fan of magic all my life... I've watched a lot of magic acts and a lot of different styles... this is undoubtedly one of the very best I've ever seen ! I'm still lol in amazement
After all of these years, you'd think there couldn't be any more great magicians that haven't been on the show yet. And still, they manage to find some time and time again. 🙂
Guy is in GOAT status .. I’ve watched a thousand P&T episodes, and watched this guy win awards a few yrs ago, but this is MIND BENDING stuff 😱 👏👏 Easily top 10 or even 5 I’ve EVER SEEN 😵💫 Loved Tellers PERFECT reaction at the end too!!! 👍 So happy for him & his epic “messy magic” unique style 👌♥️☺️ Continued success bro!!!
OMG! Some of the tricks I guessed when I saw his performance at FISM were completely negated by Penn's change. Thank you for showing me a great performance. [DeepL]
Huge number. It's so well written, the character also serves the process. This FISM prize rewards intelligent writing, exceptional technique and daring. An important detail, for us French: it's particularly pleasing to finally see a card trick perfectly filmed on TV, something we don't know how to do in France. It really highlights the quality and complexity of the routine. Fun fact: in France, no one picks from the bag of chips, whereas everyone is more relaxed and playful here.
