@@garyha2650 tunnle in the ground and someone farther away pushing a rod with one half sturdy and the other half more flexible. the angle of the tunnel makes it look like its going straight up and when leaning on the edge of the tunnle can be climbed

The rope is hollow and a wooden or metal pole/stick is pushed through it. The person under the ground just slips the pole/stick through the center of the hollow rope.

Since posting that I've actually delved deeper into magic. Most of my magician buddy's say they have no idea how it is done safely. We're still trying to find a safe way to do it, haha
