PennDOT District 8 Traffic Advisory Radio 1670 AM WPEA856, WQHI497, W??? and WQHI499 

This is a capture of one of the PennDOT District 8 Highway Advisory Radio stations in the Harrisburg region broadcasting a test broadcast. These stations typically relay NOAA Weather Radio during normal situations. I have a capture of one doing that as well. The four callsigns given are WPEA856, WQHI497, third call not recognizable, and WQHI499. This was captured June 22nd, 2024 traveling interstate 76 and 81.
PennDOT operates 90 or so HAR stations on interstates across the state. Many seem to no longer being broadcasting. PennDOT is still using some of the HAR locations but is cannibalizing usable parts from ones beyond their life cycle to extent to life of other sites. It also seems parts have also been coming from the equipment on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that has been decommissioned in recent years. At one time, the turnpike operated HAR on 1640 AM. At this time, PennDOT still uses HAR when needed.
