Honesty is the only way far too easy to edit videos and make it look like your a super carper but i like the reality of it all, my aim is always to try and make each video a story from start to finish blank or not. 👍🥃
A very successful session Matt and great to see you back on the bank again 😀 An instant result is always a great feeling as the pressure of a blank is off early and it means you can enjoy the session a little bit more knowing you have a fish in the net early doors. Whenever i see fish boshing over my spot like they were in the video it raises the level of excitement for me and the hopes and expectations rise in confidence. A lovely chunky looking fish to start with and one that looks like it could grow into a bit of a monster. I also use the same camera as you and it is still a great quality bit of kit. However last year i also managed to upgrade my mobile phone to an Iphone 12 Pro Max which shoots video in 4K so i now film with both devices and take the still shots from the iphone if fishing alone. The zoom on the CX405 is still absolutely incredible though and it is amazing just how far away you can see objects with it. My next purchase is hopefully going to be a GoPro as i want to be able to film the action up close and from my eyes view as well as still having the camera and phone on the tripod. Another brilliant thoroughly entertaining video and great to see you back out again 👍🎣
Of course your right you can relax a bit when you have one in the bag, those fish are offspring of a very famous fish called BIG RIG a very controversial fish indeed Big Rig, was the huge hand-reared carp at RH Fisheries' It was caught at 69 lb 3 oz by Tom Doherty in September, 2016. The British Record Fish Committee rejected his claim as they decided the fish had been artificially reared. oops! I think my camera is dying on me so it wont be long for an upgrade 😀 i wouldn't mind one of those go pros myself i do have a budget one but its super crap lol ill hang on as long as i can with this camera as i do like it.
@@MaffTUK I remember in one of your previous videos you mentioned that Clear Water was one of the fisheries that had taken an order of Big Rig’s Babies. They look incredible even as stockies and it won’t be long until they are giants. I have watched the video of Rob Hales netting them and they just looked like freaks of nature. Although if one of the offspring does break the record in the future then it will have done it fair and square from hatched as fry. Big Rig was an incredible fish albeit a controversial one and i do like the fact that it’s bloodline has continued and can only imagine what it will be like trying land one of those fish at 40lb+ 😱 Clear Water is a fishery that i really want to fish this year and me being in the north west it isn’t a million miles away. I am happy with the Sony handy cam at the minute as it does exactly what i need it to do. If i do manage to get some spare money i might upgrade or even get a DSLR camera.

We have the right place and right time to share all your goodies we have a social booked this summer for a week and we will do it then that way all the chaps get some. say hello to everyone regards Matt😁
Hi Maff nice video and a good watch, congrats on the capture always nice to get one in early. There's nothing wrong with your PVA bags at all , until next time take care and stay safe.
It caught me by surprise, i wasn't expecting such a quick return and from that point on I sat back and relaxed with the pressure off as for the pva bags they don't normally come out so well i was quite pleased with them TBH 👍😁
Top video to start the season off, Hopefully the first of many videos to come this year mate, I’m going France in October, I’m going lake Morgane on the 9th.
@@MaffTUK I fished on lords next to it a few years back. Have to let us know you’re dates in the next vlog! would love to come say hi if we’re there in the same week. Tight lines mate
Thanks Dave. I said to Paul as we brought the foul hooked fish out of the water its easy to pretend it wasn't foul hooked but if i did that you would know I fake catches and from that point on you would never trust what you see on my vids. I just want things to be as real as it can be and just be me, keeping it real Dave 👍😁🥃
As soon as I pass me car test at the start of summer I will be heading down the M6 to check Clearwater out. Its my treat to myself since Cumbria's not got the best choice of carp waters cant wait!
Really like this place its just a few minutes away and the staff are really helpful its getting very popular now so book early :-) oh and good luck passing your driving test mate 🚗🐟
Nice to see you back on the bank (And the box) Maff. Just a tip:- If you rub cooking oil on your catapult elastic it stops the latex from drying out and keeps the elastic supple and ultimately it will last a lot longer.
First time watching you Maff. Loved it. Proper guy. You remind me of my Dad. He loved his fishing and I miss him dearly. Keep the vids coming and I have subscribed 👍
Great video as per usual mate, good to see you back on the bank after a short absence. That fennel seed is potant stuff 🤣🤣 maybe your camera is starting to suffer the same gremlins mine was was it would stop recording and buffer message pop up. Till next time buddy.
Yep thats exactly what is starting to happen to my camera, yes ive heard that Fennel seed is very pottant lol I'm on your vids when ive finished with the comment reply's stay safe mate see you guys soon
Really like your vids very good fun... I go river fishing but thinking of trying lake carp fishing soon and it's good to see someone else doing it... Not sure I can afford that much gear but I do have the right tackle etc I think
My fox catapult is like triggers broom, it's got drennan elastic and korda pouch, , enjoyable watch with a bonus fish, not sure about the fennel like 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahaja love the comedy music box '' nice carp' well done and pva bags are down to your own preference m8 if we all did the same thing wouldn't it be boring''👍👍
I know its sad to laugh at your own jokes ......I guess I'm just sad lol...... yep ive put all sorts of strange ingrediencies in those bags much to Dave's disgust at my unorthodox approach.
Cant see much wrong with your solid bags Maff tbh. Dont be too derogatory about your skills. All I do different is to cover the hook with some fine powdered bait first, before adding the main bag mix. That ways theres no chance of impaling a piece of chopped boilie on the hook and masking the point. Thanks for the videos Maff. Prefer yours to korda and Nash any day. I trust you to keep it real, unlike the aforementioned 😊👍
Well jo i will take that as a compliment any time and thank you...and for the top tip about powder, it is no doubt a problem snagging the hook with bait or weed so i take your powdered bait idea and will in future use it cheers Jo bloggs (Great name BTW) thanks again Jo , regards Matt
Great vid matt are you sponsored by hp brown sauce now strategically placed at the back of shot there 😂 Hard to believe it is 16 month since we said goodbye at whythenshaw keep up the good work and maybe get you fishing Cyprus dams in the future 👍👍👍
Hello Dave Greeting from HP SAUCE i mean me not HP SAUCE (currently on offer at Asda) 16 months bleeding hell that went quick mate. great to see your new home develop as the time goes on and i am genuinely impressed your living your dream, good to here from you buddy oh and HP SAUCE says hi too LOL
Yes i do get that clump of glue on the lead end and even more so in colder water, probably about 60 % of the time i think if i make the twist very tight i get a bigger clump on the lead
This is not a criticism. Just a comment that you might want to respond to or not, no problem. I haven't fished in years and never was that knowledgeable of fishing either. Just had fun. So, I've been watching you fish, and thinking about it, and I can't figure out why you chuck 20 pounds of food into the lake, and then think a well fed carp will grab one small lure. Wouldn't you want the fish starving and going after anything that fell into the lake? I'm missing something here. I even saw another group fishing and they chucked about a dozen pieces of food into the pond to see if the fish were feeding yet. The fish came up and gobbled the food. He said, "We don't want to feed them too much; we want them to take our bate." He caught 5 fish one right after the other. They were not the mammoth size of these carp but they were what he was targetting. Thanks.
June that is a very good question, and im happy to try and answerer that for you. firstly surface fishing is one of the best ways to fish but the seagulls here will clean you out in 15 seconds from no seagull to be seen to 20 on you in seconds. so surface fishing not an option here. As for feeding carp they are known as underwater pigs who can mop up large amounts of food in seconds they get very suspicious of single baits these fish have been fed on pellets from day one they are fed regularly, so they know and expect large amounts of food the idea is to get the fish in a feeding frenzy small baits will attract small fish so you go from small particles to attract smaller fish and get flavours in the water which bring in the bigger fish remember we don't want the smaller fish we want the biggest in the lake that's the challenge so big piles of food will keep plenty of fish in your swim for longer and hopefully attract the big fish who wont often touch or even find a single bait on its own. feeding the fish with lots of quality food make bigger fish, which bring in more anglers. Its only during the winter you limit the food to a minimum as the fish will feed very little and then small amounts of bait work. So the more food in your spot the more chance of feeding fish and the greater the chance the big fish will come in and take the bigger bait just for them ... thats the plan and what most carp anglers try to achieve hope that went a little way to explain why we do what we do 😁👍🐟
Hello m8 good to see you out , I got a question how long do you make up your pva bags in advance as I thought if you lick them they would eventually melt. Thanks and tight lines and wet nets
Actually Steve you may be surprised at this answer, I made mine about 5 days in advance but what happened was they absorbed any moisture in the mix which was pva friendly and they became loose and slack? i presume if you use all dry material and inject some flavour just before being used they would last quite a bit longer but then you may loose flavour in you hook bait so a bit of a catch 22.... perhaps the best time is within 48 hours of using them but that is purely a guess.
Is it just a two swim water that maff? I'm thinking of taking a young lad from work somewhere and I keep forgetting Clearwater,I won't be going wyreside again didn't like it,nice comeback fish as well, always happy with a wet net,👍🍻🍻🍻🙂
Yes phil its just two large swims perfect for dad and lad or mini social if you end up in one swim the other fisherman is unable to cast in your water due to angles, its well set up and close to the cars and loo 😁 book early its very popular currently booked until June
Do you prick your pva bags with a baiting needle before you put them out ? Brilliant vlog though maff can’t wait to see you all on your next social with carp king 71
Brilliant to see you back on the bank and nice fish as well im looking forward to seeing more of your fishing adventures. Are you planning on doing any channel stickers. Tight lines m8
Well actually yes i was as i have some payback to do from the fishing bloggers videos so i may have some soon enough if you want some Steph, ill let you know
Save yourself the money pal and buy a food proceser for about £15 :) , great to see you back mate , im hoping to get on the syndicate over the road from Clearwater soon and if i do ill hit you up and get you on as a guest , some crackers coming out of there at the moment
Great vid Maff nice to have you back. Was that the pleasure dome Bivvy you was using for that session? Look forward to the next vid mate. And well done on the fish.
That bivi Lee is the Chub SR+ its on loan from Andy P but its just a little too low and i would hate to be bivi bound in that bugger i would need a lower bed chair just to sit up straight
@@MaffTUK Haha, small world ... I’m from Thornton Cleveleys only a few minutes from carleton. Heard you mention this place you fished in the video is carnforth. I’ll have to give it a go one day!
Ash im afraid its all down to youtube you can limit ads but youtube will flood the video with any type you allow, it is very annoying, I reject 90% of add types and they compensate by driving you mad
