Penny Dreadful | John Logan on the Series Finale | SHOWTIME Series 

Is anyone else devastated? I feel like we need to form a support group or something.

I'm a mess. It's been years since I've love a character like I love Vanessa, and I seriously wasn't expecting this ending for her. I completely understand that it makes sense but I'm in really bad shape at the moment.

this series finale feels intensely premature and shortsighted. they could've easily done four seasons, and really this show needed another season because of all the open endings from the finale. why introduce dr. jekyll if we only get a slight reference to hyde and never see him as hyde? why introduce someone as badass as catriona, to never reveal her back story? is ethan never going to find out that brona is alive/undead? what happens to lily and john/the creature and literally everyone. where did dracula go, what does this mean for the him and lucifer? like thanks for the bleak and poetic ending, but how about a little character resolution in a series finale?

I really can't believe John Logan and Showtime would punk the fans calling it a season finale when it was known the 3rd season would be the last with no warning. Just really crappy to do that to die hard fans. Shame on you John Logan and Showtime!

To say that I am pissed off as a fan would be an understatement. Betrayed is more like it. If the creators and producers of the show knew that this was going to be the last season please explain to me why you didn't just come out and announce it at the beginning of the season instead of just slapping on a "The End" title card at the end of the episode that has been advertised as a SEASON FINALE. I mean for real if was time for the show to end I understand that but letting your viewers find out at the end of the episode is a slap in the face. And too think now that the entire final season was wasted on the main characters being separated from one another ( So bitter about the lack of Ethan and Vanessa this season) with disjointed story lines is just really really sad.

This is so heartbreaking and disappointing. There was SO much more potential to continue the series. I know they could have find a way to bring her back and have her be stronger than ever. I felt so unfulfilled. There were so many unanswered questions I feel. I don't know. This show was so unique and different and the acting was actually believable and compelling. Every scene had me begging for more. It was a one of a kind show and extremely under appreciated...😔 I will deeply miss it, but I will continue to watch past seasons and enjoy the masterpiece that it was... It's such a loss💔

I feel like there was so much story left to be told. Season 3 was messy, with different writers and directors, maybe the ending was fitting for the story...but where is the rest of the story? Ethan pulled "The Lovers" card in episode 1...that never came to fruitation. Feeling ripped off. Oh and it's cruel to have a series finale be a surprise to your fans :(

Ethan doesn't even know Brona is alive. This sucks. I feel like Showtime did them dirty and made them rush the ending.

I can't believe this is how this show ends! After all the suffering and emotional turmoil that Vanessa had endured, it was completely heartbreaking to see her end like this. I guess the writer of the show believed she would finally be at peace dead, but I think that she deserved so much better. It seems that this is the end of the show and I actually want it to be because I don't see how this show can continue without our dear Miss Ives, who was definitely the pillar of this show.

NO PLEASE! THIS CAN NOT BE HAPPENING! This show was the best! every character become in a dear and close friend, i just cant let them go so soon and such in a disappointing way. THIS SHOW DESERVED BETTER!

I'm fine with the way that it ended, it was actually a masterpiece. But for Showtime to not tell the fans that this was actually a series finale....bad form for them. Especially for us subscribers who suffered through the final seasons of Dexter and Californication. It's mind bogglingly bad PR.

This is really sad to see one of the best show end but the ending was really beautiful and I hope it opens the door for more shows like this because it was a masterpiece.

Writers ran out of ideas? What! They had so many opportunities to continue the series and so many places to go.

Best Show Ever!! eventhough I'm very sad, I still love it!

I loved this show. As silly as it could have been with the nature of the subject matter it ended up being glorious. The writing, the acting and the use of poetry in the finale was superb. My only issue was with the haphazardly way we were informed that this was to be the SERIES ending. When I saw the words: The End flash across the screen I immediately scoured Google only to find that the show is truly over. Considering they probably ended filming this late last year they could have given us fans the courtesy of informing us that this would be the final season. When a show is this good you have to mentally prepare yourself for the end.

Brilliant writing. Brilliant cast. Utterly wrecked that it's over.

I feel like we need a season were Vanessa is the mother of evil! Were we get to see her wickedness, and the demon she was fighthing all these seasons. I feel like we need to see Lily's vengeance, she proved us this hole season that she will no longer kneel and that Dorian's betrayal will have consequences. We need to see what Jekkyl is hidding and his backstory of how he got to the serum of the angels. We need Catriona story to be unravelled, we need to see what happened to Ferdinand Lyle and what he might have found out about Amunet in Egypt! Finally, We need our Vanessa. Life will never go back to what it was.

....so many people have subscribed to the showtime channel just to watch Penny Dreadful .... and now this show was interrupted ....someone at the showtime can imagine what will happen now.....

I hope there is another season or two. I am curious as to what happens to Lord Hyde, The Creature (John Clare), Lilly (Does she ever meet up with Ethan again? And what would he think about Dr. Frankenstein when he finds out how Brona was reanimated? Does she ever meet with John Clare again?) of course all the other characters are excellent also (Kaetenay,Sir Malcolm,Dr. Seward,Lyle,Catriona Hartdegen). Dracula never died so it is open for further stories with his character and the others. It even seems possible that Vanessa could somehow be resurrected maybe It would really be interesting to see Mr Hyde in his evil preternatural form go against or maybe team up with Clare or Dracula, or Lily...and I'm sure Dorian could come into the story somehow.Also I was thinking maybe Sherlock Holmes would be an excellent addition as well as maybe the invisible man, I think there is still a lot of stories to be told in this universe and I wish it didn't end so quickly. I was hoping to see John Clare(the creature) and Lilly interact with the Ethan, and the others somehow and fight vampires but their paths never crossed. I wondered what becomes of the serum that Dr. Frankenstein and Jekyll (lord Hyde) collaborated on that they were going to give Lilly that could cure madness forever. Could it possibly be used to heal people like Renfield or other vampiric minions under the spell of Dracula? I hope this story is not done and that more seasons are created before too many years goes by or that it is left open for others to weave new tales in a similar fashion using all these great characters. I was even thinking about how cool it would be if Dr. Indiana Jones could somehow be brought into the story..like 30 years in the future...it is fun to let the imagination ponder these possibilities.

I feel a sense of loss after this series ended. This world is so rich and the characters so tragically compelling that the conclusion is bittersweet. But I don't want a Season 4, after this ending that would be cheap and unnecessary.

This was the only show I watched on Showtime, so that's that.

My favorite show died without warning. I'm angry with SHOWTIME for being so dumb as not to see the value of making one of the best shows ever! I hope another network buys the rights and brings this beauty back to life! I myself will begin writing fan fiction to keep this alive!

You guys, I'm just as mad and upset as you all are. But that is art. It comes and goes. Especially in the performing arts world. It's sad. But that is what makes it so special and beautiful. Knowing that one day, that the time will come, and it too will be put to bed.

I don't know what I want to do more... kick the hell out of Logan or cancel my Showtime subscription. That was the shittiest writing for an ending since "How I Met Your Mother"'s similarly insipid finale.

It felt incredibly rushed with many questions without answer and possibilities remaining. All the characters introduced in this season only to be unfinished and unexplored.

To end the show on a death, why not but seriously it felt rushed, uninspired and in total contradiction with what Ives appeared to be all along.... Besides Dracula not breaking a fuse and letting everyone go after that...sure...

To three wonderful seasons of great storytelling - bravo to John Logan and to everyone! Best show in such a long time. Loved every second of it. Bravo. Aside: loved the hint of reincarnation at the end. Lucifer and Dracula are perpetual dark forces, maybe Vanessa / Amunet has been reincarnated in the 21st Century? That would make a great series in itself. E.x

There's something wrong here. The way the show was set up I think John had plans for more seasons. This seems like Showtime politics to me.

The final two episodes absolutely destroyed what was otherwise a gorgeous show. Can we at least get the truth about the intended finale? There are scenes in the trailers and shown in promo pics that never made it into the episodes. To tell fans that this rushed, continuity-nightmare of an ending was "foretold" is to add insult to injury to your fans. At least I can now cancel my Showtime subscription.

Probably never watching anything from Showtime again, and I'm keeping a goddam chip on my shoulder for all the principals from this show. WTF?! The season was a slow burn like the others that came before, with a season and series finale that felt as botched as the whole "Arya in Braavos" story arc (from GoT, yes I'm mix-n-matching here) , and even more of a let down becaise of the stakes. Considering the fantastic job they did with such characters as "the Creature," and Vanessa, I had some justifiably high hopes for Dracula ... and they came to nothing.

The ending blew...but whatever hopefully Eva finds a better tv show next time.

What? I am completely shocked. I haven't seen the finale yet but didnt know at all that this finale would end the whole series?? Please no!! Why end this show after so few episodes. There are still so many questions and potential storylines and I can't imagine how all the characters (who were beautifully written over the last two years) are getting finished off within one finale. There are freaking 13 seasons of garbage like Greys Anatomy, Homeland has like over 1000 episodes but ending such a unique and wonderful show after only three short seasons seems rushed and doesn't appreciate any of it's material or audience. We better get a season 4 and 5, you hear me Logan?!!
