This video is an edit of George Romero's film "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) by Rob Wellington (Melbourne, Australia). “Night of the Living Dead” is a 1968 American independent horror film directed, photographed, and edited by George A. Romero, using guerrilla filmmaking techniques.
“Voodoo Girl” was composed by Penny Ikinger and Penelope Inc. bass guitarist Vinz Guilluy on his rooftop balcony in Montmartre in Paris. In true voodoo fashion the original demo recording mysteriously disappeared from the hard drive of the computer so “Voodoo Girl” had to be re-written from scratch.
Eventually it was recorded for posterity by Penelope Inc. in Sète, France in a studio overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, with Jim Diamond (ex The Dirtbombs) sitting in as producer. Jim was originally from Detroit, USA now residing in France. "Voodoo Girl" was recorded at Studio de la Butte Ronde, Sète, France by Guillaume Brugvin on 18 March 2019 and produced, mixed and mastered by Jim Diamond in 2019.
“Voodoo Girl” was released on Penny Ikinger's fourth solo album “Travels and Travails”, a mesmerising new body of work covering 20 years of her enthralling solo career. This unique album showcases Penny's collaborations with artists from France, Australia, Japan and the United States. It has garnered excellent reviews and generated international airplay.
Penny Ikinger’s raw talent has won over audiences in Japan, the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, garnering a legion of devoted fans, and even the toughest of critics have been won over by her undeniable talent. Penny's passion for music and electrifying performances have allowed her to captivate audiences around the world, marking her as a truly remarkable artist.
