Though it was actually Tommy who wrote Blitzkrieg Bop. Unfortunately, now he's gone, too, the last of the original lineup. They all went way too young.
My first experience with a circle pit was at a Ramones concert in 1981. What they are doing in this video is nothing compared to then. On the other hand, I think Joey and the boys would be pleased with this version.
Rock music at its best. I just can't believe it: it took everybody a decade to recognise the Ramones as milestones in (punk) rock music, and now we're happy with just bratty teenaged singers and ridiculous music-killers (e.g. Tokio Hotel)? Gimme back the '80s!
This song sounds just way better when you play it quick. When i play with my band, we even try to play as fast as possible, quite fun actually, you guys who're in a band should give it a try! Nice cover!
Pennywise always played a lil bit speed up on covers juz like they played Misfits Astro Zombies, and this Ramones Blitzkrieg Bob cover was totally awesome as well.
ok first of all joey ramone did not write this song he just sang it and pennywise was just dedicating a song to him which is perfectly fine cause joey ramone is the shit and their is no singer like him. But the only thing is people making comments about pw. pennywise is the best punk band since the ramones and this is an awesome cover and if u don't like it DON'T WATCH IT!!!!
@NotName666 Pop-punk is not the same as punk rock, but it's good to see modern bands trying to make the same kind of music, instead of letting the genre die.
ey guys it's a tribute. so they honor Joey, So I don't understand you all. they are just playing a song of there idols. only on their own way. Is their something wrong with that?
What bands do you like CBGBRIP? Good Charolotte? I love the Ramones and this is a faithful cover. I'd rather have PW do it than Green Day. And BR rocks too.
Excellent cover. Incidentally, if you get the chance, catch a documentary called "The Other F Word." It's been on cable lately and it's really very good. The lead singer from Pennywise is featured prominently. It's about their lives as part of a "counterculture" and their lives as husbands and fathers.
When Richie Ramone took over for marky ramone, He sped up all the songs, to the point where their set was seven minutes shorter due to increases BPMs. Check out footage with richie drumming and the song is twice as face. RIP Joey Ramone
I used to work in a blue beacon truck wash, one time pennywise's tour bus came through got a wash, then tipped all the guys like 10 bucks each. Pennywise rocks haha
@dirty30jr Dang man. Didn't know that. I hope that isn't true because I love Pennywise and I really would have liked to believe they supported the West Memphis Three.
pennywis new stuff has been commercialised but going back to pennywise-pennywise unknown road and out of time even straight ahead(boarderline) in my opinion is punk
while their songs were on the simple (but great) side, it takes courage to do a Ramones cover. Not familiar with this band but their cover of Blitzkrieg (one of my top five Ramones faves) is pretty damn good.
Well, if all bands nowadays are gonna wear simple shirts, shorts or some fat jeans but are still gonna cover songs by punk rock bands like the Ramones, that's fucking fine with me. HEY HO! LET'S GO!
