FYI, that's a AC step down transformer you're pointing at a it steps 120VAC/240VAC down to 12VAC, 18VAC and 24VAC. The wiring diagram is on the inside of the door. Everything runs off AC in this system as far as I know. Hope this helps.
Doesn't the transformer output AC while the load center board it plugs into rectifies the voltage to DC? It even says AC beside the terminal where the transformer plugs into the board.
I’m having a similar issue. I’ve burned up my green surge board. Had a “certified pentair” guy come out and he thinks it’s possibly a bad transformer. But he didn’t test it to see what’s it’s producing?? Why should it produce? I have an electrical buddy coming over tomorrow.
My IC40 cable burt up in the exact same way. I'm getting 28VDC coming out of the Load Center Board so I bet everything is fine with my power supply. I checked the chlorinator and there are no built-up deposits on the plates but I've heard these chlorinators typically go out after a few years. Also, i noticed that the installer "saved" us some money and piggybacked the chlorinator power supply on the main pump's breaker. I bet it needs its own lower amperage breaker and that's why things burnt up. FAH! Anyway, what was the ultimate issue in your case? I went ahead and ordered a new IC40.
At 1 minutes 53 seconds into the videoI touch a black box with my knuckle. I believe I referred to it as a voltage regulator. Whatever that thing is was definitely bad. I replaced it and the cable and everything worked fine.
In my case I could tell there was proper voltage output on both the transformer and "Load Center Board". I replaced the IC40 Clorinnator and it's all good.
Like I said in the video, I'm not very electronically inclined. Just following the exact verbal directions from the pentair rep that he gave me on the phone. At the end of the day, it worked so???
