That basso profundo is Avi Kaplan. Original member who left in 2017. Multi talented (as all of them are). Solo career is really taking off. Change on the Rise and b/w video of I'm only getting started is a good start. He writes, arranges songs, harmonizes and sings in 5 octaves. Give him a chance.😊

The audio panning on "little high, little low" is a direct quote from Queen. When you listened to Queen's original you should have heard the same panning on the same phrase. Pentatonix loves Queen, and they love "Bohemian Rhapsody," so they always wanted to cover this song, but they feared that they couldn't do it justice, so they decided to wait until they were sure they were ready. That took them five years, but it was worth the wait - they were definitely ready. In the early days of Pentatonix, after Epic reneged on the recording contract Pentatonix had "won" on _The Sing-Off,_ Pentatonix started posting to RU-vid; it was the only way they COULD publish their music. A lot of those early RU-vid videos show the five of them sitting on a couch, with the trio on the back of the couch and Avi and Kevin on the seat in front of them, just five very young people singing their hearts out, making their dream come true. Note that this is the configuration we see them in at the beginning and end of "Bohemian Rhapsody," which is one reason the couch needs to move - it's taking Pentatonix (and us) on a trip down Memory Lane. The more important reason the couch moves is that it's standing in for the car in _Wayne's World,_ where Wayne and Garth introduced a whole new generation to the genius of Queen by putting a tape of "Bohemian Rhapsody" into the car's tape player. The couch was motorized, and not very well balanced. (Note that when they're sitting on it their feet don't quite reach the ground. The little curtain thing on the bottom was added to hide the motor.) It kept trying to tip over during the filming and actually managed to throw Kevin off at one point. There was a small platform attached to the back so that Kirstie could climb on the couch from behind - Scott, being a foot taller than Kirstie, didn't need it. A lot of reactors think there was some kind of electronic distortion provided by something in the megaphone to make Mitch's electric guitar sound the way it does. Not so, that was all Mitch. Mitch just saw the megaphone lying around on the set and thought it would make a cool prop and it's been confusing people ever since. During the "Bismillah" argument, note that Scott, whose range includes both bass and tenor registers, is actually singing along with both the high and low sides of the argument. Scott has said that this rapid switching is the hardest part of the song for him. When the camera pans up to show us the starry night sky during Mitch's second guitar solo it's meant as a tribute to Queen's lead guitarist, Brian May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics. The four shooting stars honor the four members of Queen. When the camera pans back down to show Pentatonix lying on the couch together it's meant to recall the cover art for Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" album. Kevin and Mitch are both singing that last "Any way the wind blows." Note that this completes it; EVERY member of Pentatonix had an opportunity to play Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody," yet another dream come true. And when this official video was first released, Brian May posted a link to it on all his social media accounts with the comment: "Enjoy."

You aren’t the first to say they aren’t human. Aliens is the most common tag given to them. They sing everything to rap (Can’t Hold Us, Problem) to instrumental (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy) EDM (Daft Punk, Aha!) and at the other end The Prayer, Amazing Grace. And everything in-between. It’s a commonly known fact that they “cover” a song. They produce an upgrade. The rabbit hole is deep with not a mediocre song in the bunch. Three Grammys. No other a Capella group has one. Mitch (counter tenor), Scott (baritone) and Kirstie (soprano) have known each other since children’s theater and then later sang together in high school in Arlington, Texas. They won the tv competition show, The Sing-Off, in 2011 with Kevin (beatboxed, cellist &tenor) and Avi (basso profound o) joining them for the competition. Scott and Kirstie were 19 and Mitch had just turned 19 and actually missed his high school graduation to audition for the competition. The four vocalists have tremendous ranges and Kevin has an entire drum kit and percussion section in his mouth, as well as a sweet tenor singing voice. Avi and Mitch have been singled out by several vocal coaches as having once in a generation voices. Effortless control and quality in the extreme octaves. The rabbit hole is deep. Enjoy the journey!

For your information, the Megaphone was a prop, Mitch doesn't use it, he can do it live without! They needed about 5 years to be sure, they do the original justice. Brian May posted the link to the video with the word Enjoy! on his social media. Great reaction, maybe you do Daft Punk next, it's a medley. 1. No, you aren't exaggerating. 2. This is why we recommended it. Everything Pentatonix does is wonderful, but all of us have our personal favorites that we like to recommend, and those lists vary from pentaholic to pentaholic. But there are a few songs that seem to be on EVERYONE'S favorites list, and "Bohemian Rhapsody" is at the top of the list of those songs that make up that universal favorites list.

Pentatonix bohemian rhapsody insights . So, some things to know about this cover and video: -It took PTX years to get the arrangement to where they felt they could do the original masterpiece justice. -The cover, and especially the video, was meant to be an homage to Queen. Some of the moments paying respect were: The mono-recording of the line "easy come, easy go" followed by the panning of the voices from left to right on the line "little high, little low" (which is how the original was recorded), obviously the flashlights being used to mimic the lighting on the operatic part of the original video, the four shooting stars to represent the four members of Queen, as well as acknowledge the fact that Dr. Brian May is an astrophysicist, and the overhead shot of them lying on the couch is to represent the Sheer Heart Attack album cover. -The megaphone was just a prop. It is not needed to reproduce the electric guitar distortion. -PTX can, and does, perform this live with no backing track...something even Queen and the Great Freddie Mercury could not do. -Freddy once said he didn't care what people did with his music as long as they "...don't make it boring, darling!", so I think he would absolutely approve. -The overall video--with the "living room" and couch--is an homage to Pentatonix's own journey as a group. They lost their record deal right after winning the Sing Off and moving to LA, so they started putting out videos on RU-vid, performing covers. They would sit on the couch in Kevin (beatboxer) and Avi's (bass) living room and just record themselves on Mitch's (counter tenor who took the lead on this song) iPad. Some of their earliest videos went viral and they eventually were able to secure a new deal, record an EP, go on tour, release chart-topping albums and win three Grammy awards...so they moved out of the living room and down this new, unknown road. At the end of the day, though, they're still the same choir-nerds they've always been; just happy to sit together on a couch and sing. Also when Brian Mays heard it..he posted it on his web site with the word "enjoy".

Watch some live clips and you will see that they sound pretty much the same live as in their official videos. They can do electronic dance music ,Daft Punk Medley (Won a Grammy). Country , Jolene with Dolly Parton ( won a Grammy), a song with no words, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies (won a Grammy). They rap , Can’t Hold Us and specialize in Christmas songs . The panning (moving the sound from left to right) on "little high, little low" is one of many nods to Queen's original music and video that Pentatonix has done with this video - Queen's original recording does the same thing. Did you catch the line before that? On "easy come, easy go" the sound changes from stereo to mono, another technical move that Queen's original track did. I would agree with Masq1980 on pausing. It doesn't seem that you like to do it, but it can definitely help if you pause, comment for a few seconds, and then roll back the video a few seconds and let it go again. If you don't like to pause while watching the video, I've seen one reactor who will watch the whole video through without pausing, but when he shows the video, he inserts a graphic page into his video with some text on it ("Pause to avoid copyright" or something) for several seconds, and then the video starts right back up where it left off. To YT it looks like he's pausing the video, but to a watcher, the interruptions are minimal. That way he doesn't have to modify the video in any other way.

There are 3 A Capella groups that I say are equal and are the best out there. 1) Pentatonix, who won the third season of a singing competition called The Sing Off. 2) Home Free, who won the 4th season of The Sing Off. 3) Voice Play who most members (and they change members often) have backgrounds with Disney so they are very theatrical. All three are absolutely fantastic A Capella groups. I do not favor one of the other. I listen to them all with equal praise.

Can I be a little biased and say that Pentatonix are "The first among equals" of these acapella groups. Home Free and Voice Play are indeed fantastic but Pentatonix's versaility in the genre of music they can do give them the edge. I do enjoy all of them though.

I am sorry you are having such issues putting their stuff up, PTX loves people reacting to their stuff - they even have surprised a few people by showing up in person! Their label however is rabid about SME blocking. What I have seen a few reactors I watch do that seems to work is lowering the opacity of the video (which you already are doing) but, they also put words all over the video like 'blocked due to copyright', to obscure even more the video because what seems to be the case with 'most' blocks is the video itself. Sometimes the music is the culprit but often times it is the video. I would also suggest pausing a bit more - do not feel bad about pausing, there are always going to be people who do not understand why reactors need to pause so much, but it will help in keeping it from being blocked. Pause, make some comments, then back up like 10 seconds or wherever and continue. We have seen the video so many times and pentaholics (the vast majority of us) know about pausing and are fine with it as long as you back up a bit after coming out of a pause to get back in the flow and make sure you don't miss something! It took PTX 5 years before they felt like they were ready to try and do this song because they are all massive queen fans and wanted to do it justice. Brian May saw the video and posted on his social media a link to it with a one word comment 'Enjoy!' They put in a lot of little easter eggs in this as tribute to the original video. 1. The couch is a nod to their beginnings as a group after the Sing Off and Sony dropped them, they started making youtube videos filming them on one of their couches. Also it is meant to represent the car in Wayne's World that brought in a new generation to Queen's music with them headbanging to Bohemian Rhapsody in the movie. 2. A lot of the camera stuff is tribute to the original's trippy visuals. The shot from above with them all laying on the couch is a nod towards the cover art of Queen's album 'Sheer Heart Attack'. 3. The starscape and shooting stars are meant to represent that Brian May, lead guitarist is also an astrophysicist, and each shooting star represents a member of the band. 4. When Mitch falls onto the couch and the rest are walking alongside it is in reference to Freddy Mercury's death and the walking members are the Pallbearers of his coffin. 5. and as some others have made mention, the Grassi guitar does not need a megaphone. It was a prop that Mitch found on set and thought to use it to draw attention to who was making the guitar solo sound. He can do it live without a megaphone! I am also of the opinion that Mitch is Freddie Mercury reincarnated, he can get up just as high as Freddie could (maybe even higher), he can grow the Freddie Stash beautifully and just looks so much like him it's insane! Freddie died about 8 months before Mitch was born! I think you would love checking out Mary Did You Know, and/or Imagine next! Bring tissues for Imagine cause it's got a very powerful message!
