I'm just a 63 year young random guy that lived all that enormous glory of the 80s... Now i am speechless Infront of this masterpiece... Freddie's soul..will be smiling from the stars above us... Thank you Pentatonix for keeping the music alive... you have my deepest respect and love.. there's no sky.. there's no limit...those limits are just fading out Infront of your great work !!! May the universe bless you all..
Great comment. This excellent group has my utmost respect. Very talented and appreciated by a broad age group in what ever they sing. God bless you and Pentatonics 🙏
Holy crap. Every time I've heard other a capella groups do this song, it always felt like something was missing. I don't hear that in this version. They absolutely nailed this one.

I didn't get more than a minute into the song before I said out loud "Kevin Olusola!" He is simply incredible, I mean each one of them is incredible, and they're even better together. Maybe I'm drawn to drums.
Okay, I'm calling it right now THEY ARE NOT HUMAN!!!! This was so good and I kid you not, they are aging like fine wine. The gift that keeps on giving, ear candy that I have become addicted to. My mind is BLOWN! Simply WOW!
I’m telling you these mfs are aliens. Rather their talent is extraterrestrial, otherworldly. And I just said the same two things about them right before reading this.
Mitch is amazing as always but I was actually blown away by Kirsten watching and listening to this live. She is mostly in the background but she does a lot of heavy lifting in making it sound as close as possible to the real song with her rock solid vocals. Amazing as always, every one of them.
This one will always be so impressive!!! Mitch is the perfect lead for this. Look at these stars! Thanks for sharing these newer live versions! (Especially so I have proper Matt versions to listen to!)
I will say, despite the actual instruments their cover of creep from the masked singer, is one of my recent favorites from them. The arrangement is so haunting and movie trailer-esque. It's wonderful
Just because they SANG it live doesn't mean they didn't have it pitch-corrected in post. It's not the same as "auto-tune," and ALL the big groups do it. I'm not POSITIVE about VoicePlay, but the rest all do. I don't have the right equipment to tell if this is pitch-corrected or not. Having said that, it does not mean that these folks are not amazing. They are. I've been listening to them for about 8 years now. I love 'em!
@@AudioVile Geoff from Voiceplay openly talks about having used pitch software to get a note below his range. He can sing the end of the Oogie Boogie's Song within his range, and they talk about having 150 tracks in classical chaos including multiple layered percussion. But, they are fantastic and I love their productions. The main thing is they don't pretend to be anyhting they are not and are open.
Playing this into pitch monitoring software does appear to be pitch corrected. Still fantastic and onto my playlist. I do love an organic voice though.
I mean, the original video has some minor vocal distortion on the megaphone part. Both Kevin and Scott have confirmed that. He doesn't have in when performing live though (or in this video, clearly) but they've never tried to hide that they added some distortion as a stylistic choice. They often add edits like cleaner vocals (or even some tone correction) to hit the stylistic vibe of pop music. They don't need it, talent wise, but sometimes choose to do it because it fits the vibe they're going for.
the original video has the electric guitar distortion added in post. It's quite obvious , and a great stylistic touch. It doesn't detract from the beauty of their live performance versions like this one. But if you don't think there was distortion added to that guitar solo in the original video...might be time to touch grass.
@N_F414 i think what they're getting at os that many reactors see the megaphine amd think that's why it sounds like a guitar. Always takes many fans tellingnthem that Mitch doesnt need to megaphone to aound like a guitar. Nibidys disputing that they added effects to the studio recording, just that Mitch is capable enough on his own. He's quite good at imitating lots of sounds and voices.
Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, repent of your sins and get saved. Romans 6:23 23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This song is such a masterpiece. I'm usually an R&B fan, but this is such a unique and masterfully arranged song, it's riveting to listen to! And then add Pentatonix talent on top....chef's kiss.
Guitar-Mitch it on fire!!! For everyone who says they use auto tune, I say 😝😝. I've been to several of their concerts and they sound just like way they are in their videos! Love my PTX!!
this is literally sooooo good are you kidding??? they're so skilled at what they do I can't express how much practice and skill it takes to be able to sound this cohesive especially considering the insane arrangement and they all sound so good here aaaaaaaa i love ptx
I was with you from your first performance on The Sing-Off, and have been a Pentaholic ever since. You NEVER give a bad performance, but you have matured over the years, much like a fine wine (and I LOVE me some fine wine) This video is a prime example of that maturity, and I couldn't be more happy for all of you (and us fans, of course). Shawn Stockman may have been the first Pentaholic, but I count myself in the first tier, if you will, of fans who recognized your immense talent then, and have followed you ever since. My husband and I (we're seniors) hobbled our way to our seats at your Hollywood Bowl concert in 2022, and made our way carefully back to our car after (with frequent stops), and it was the best birthday present anyone has ever given me (thank you, my Eddy!).💝
Kirstin has to put in WORK for this song and it does not go unnoticed! 🎶🥰 You ALL are so incredibly talented and we can’t wait to attend your show in December!❤❤❤
I'm speechless. I've seen this live before, from the front row of a concert, and I'm still speechless. You all never cease to amaze me. This song is how I found you, and how you became my favorite musicians ever.
I am a musician and ny head tells me there's a drum. In there somewhere...every time 😂My eyes say don't be so stupid and my brain says i just heard it 😂
This was freakin phenomenal. I'm so proud of their success in breaking the mole and allowing their creativity and love of what they do to go against all odds.
This was and is epic..made for Mitch's voice and completed perfect by Kirstin, Scott , Kevin and Matt. Thanks a lot ...I'm so happy we have you guys singing for us pentaholics...❤
I saw the original video with Avi and it moved me to tears. This one they deliver with the same potency along with some new flair. Pentatonix is the absolute pinnacle of acapella vocal perfection!
You've been performing this song live for 1098765434567876434567 times during your concerts over the years, and you still manage to make it sound fresh and better then ever. Just wow! 👏
Absolutely obsessed with Mitch's performance in this. This is the may be the best cover of this song I've ever heard. You all just keep getting better!
You'd think she could afford to actually buy something that doesn't look like it came out of the discard pile at a thrift store. The white "patch" on the right side looks like the bag my husband wears on his leg to hide his Foley catheter when in public (except she's wearing it on the outside of her pants).
@@ZeldaMcFly I don’t understand why no-pants pants have become a thing. But I think she’s the only one capable of making them look good. But you’re entitled to your opinion
@@Steamrick true! Wise Guys are/were awesome! They are basically how I got in touch with acapella as a genre, without knowing it :D I just always liked them
My God, just as great as the first recording of "Bohemian Rhapsody" if not more. I'm in the hospital (rehab next) with complications from my first full hip replacement surgery and I felt so down. This video perked me up! If you find yourselves near Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio near your Cleveland tour stop), send prayers for a successful recovery. I know I'm just a small speck in this world, but a prayer (silent or in person??) would go a long way. Thank you! 😊❤️🎶🎄🤶🎅🎁
OMG, SO GOOD! I AM SPEECHLESS ALL I CAN DO IS SIT HERE AND SMILE! PERFECTION!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Been a fan since 2012. It's so amazing that they just keep on getting better with age. Sucks that I'm now in a country where they don't go as part of their world tour.😭😭😭😭😭😭
Mitch Grassi, an amazing countertenor. A once in a generation voice that can effortlessly reach way up in the highest soprano range. You should check out more Pentatonix (PTX for short). They're amazing!!
How cool would it be to be able to toggle each singer’s vocals on and off to really hear the individual components and what each insanely talented member brings to the mix. Would be amazing if RU-vid had a feature like that
As someone who was a fan of your original stairwell videos, I love these live videos! They really show off your best, unique skills as a group and individuals.
This is exquisite! I've been a Pentatonix fan for years, but they outdid themselves with this! It made me smile, but the lead vocals made me cry, they were so beautiful! I think it's safe to say you have Freddie's approval, dahlings!❤
And here it is! I've been waiting. They teased this and I think it's fantastic that a live version has been recorded, because they do it live in concert all the time, and it's always insane!
