I think the word you're searching for is "dissonance" -- when two or more tones clash creatively and create an unsettled feeling. PTX uses dissonance VERY effectively in much of their repertoire.

Haunting lyrics, haunting harmonies, haunting song and video. They do it such justice. Sadly , It does feel like a mad world. We are due for some happy events and changes. It’s sad but it still comforts me to see I am not the only one feeling this way. 🤗

Excellent Reaction as always!! Mitch’s lower register is strong! And we’ve never heard so clearly the harmonizing between Matt & Mitch! I missed the bells tones, thanks for pointing them out! I’m sure many will say this vibe reflects 2020 but I prefer Happy Now’s positive upbeat ending.

love, Love, LOVE! Mitch and Matt were so good together and it’s great to hear Mitch mainly in his lower register which totally fits this song.. nothing light about it. Great job picking up all the little nuances.

Aahhh! Pure perfection and powerful!! Loved the dark background and them all wearing black! Those harmonies, though!! I got chills toward the end right before Kirstin took the lead. I love how Matt finished the song!! Bravo!!! Also, I love when Mitch sing in his mid range, too! Love your reaction and analysis!! The last really great cover I heard of this song was from Adam Lambert when he sang it on American Idol! It was brilliant!!

Hey QoFy, hey gang 👋 👋! Yaaaaay, you caught the premiere again! Hauntingly beautiful I think is the best way to describe this one. It’s just ... wow. Another hauntingly beautiful version is the one Adam Lambert did back when he was still a contestant on American Idol. I remember Simon Cowell being struck speechless by it, more or less.

QoFi, I love that you pick up a lot of musical things other reactors don’t pick up - like the tight, dissonant harmonies, the bell tones, changing of vocal parts when someone takes lead. Great job. Near the beginning, there were the swells that they were doing with the harmonies. My old vocal professor used to refer to those as “pregnant” notes. Lol. Nice review!
