I highly recommend to watch PTX do "O Come All Ye Faithful". It is not the version you are used to. They put a fantastic spin on it. The do such a fantastic job on "Mary Did You Know". And to get to hear Kevin sing. Just perfect.
Dance of the sugar plum fairy (a song without singers, done by a group without instruments) Run to you (original- haunting, pure harmonies) Mad world (another haunting one) Oh come all ye Faithfull ( great twist on a classic makes you want to dance) Sing (even more desire to dance, happy boppy song). Rise (a new one makes me feel that I can do it, whatever IT is.)
Those are 2 of my favorites. Their version of "Silent Night " (their original w/Avi)) is stunning. The new version with Matt is a different arrangement and also excellent . " Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", and "Mr. Grinch" are really fun. There is a fan video of Avi's live performance of "Oh, Holy Night" while on tour just before the holidays last year. I believe he was in Texas. It's beautiful. 💖
For some reason the opening duet with avi and scott just brings out all my emotions. It’s gorgeous and their voices together in the lead harmonizing is velvet. I love it. It gets me every time… along with every other part of this song.
O, Come All Ye Faithful is my fav of their Christmas covers. They released a new original single recently from their new holiday album called Please, Santa, Please and it's hella catchy. Other favorites are Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, My Favorite Things, White Winter Hymnal, and Over the River.
Nice reaction. The location of this video is really cool. Another older one which turns the original on it's head is "Come rest ye Merry Gentlemen". Home Free's "Do You Hear What I Hear". A must !
Josh - please check out "Oh Come All Ye Faithful', their newer version. It was arranged by Kevin as an homage to his Nigerian father and Grenadian mother. Fun and upbeat.
FYI - they have been nominated for a 5th Grammy for last year's Christmas album Christmas around the World. Here are a few additional oldies that I believe you will enjoy: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (this won them their 2nd Grammy) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jt3oAyK_IG8.html God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ku7ohU1IGls.html O Come all Ye Faithful (Lion King Vibes) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ku7ohU1IGls.html All these had Avi.
Carol of the Bells, Little Drummer Boy and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy are my three favorite Christmas songs of theirs. Although really, you can't go wrong with anything they do, of course!
Next best thing to a live Christmas concert is "Joyful Joyful Live from the Evergreen Experience". Hearin Mitch soar, seeing Kevin & Matt switching back and forth, then Matt ending the last note is simply joyous.
No wonder this song has so many views, it’s perfection. They are amazing. PS: Avi’s releasing a new song Friday 17 November and I hope you’ll check it out at some point, the snippet he’s posted is wonderful.
Very nice rendition with chimes and rotating lead vocals within the cast of voices - good overall performance. The Home Free is arranged by Beat Boxer Adam Rupp .... and just phenomenal vocal power and beauty. GBjj
I'll add my favorite in here too, Silent Night was recorded live in a church with great acoustics and of course they put their own beautiful spin on it.
One of my more recent favs that I highly recommend is 12 Days of Christmas. It’s the best version of the song (IMO) and showcases their talents. I saw them sing it live and it’s *chefs kiss*
I'm told that the cave in this video was the Bat Cave in the old _Batman_ television show. Think of a Christmas song that you absolutely hate because you've heard so many bad renditions of it (I know you have one - everybody does). Type the name of that song into the RU-vid search box and add "PTX," then hit Enter. If Pentatonix has covered the song (likely), that will find it. Listen to Pentatonix's version; it will likely become your new favorite song. Beyond that, I recommend: • "O Come All Ye Faithful" • "The 12 Days Of Christmas" • "Kid On Christmas" • "Carol Of The Bells" (AKA "Breathe, Mitch! Breathe!") • "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" • "O Holy Night" (the new recording, from this year's album, "Pentatonix: The Greatest Christmas Hits." I think it's Grammy-worthy.) • "Please Santa Please"
PTX... Famously known for Building a wall of sound Tension Release... This has been my favorite rendition since I first heard it years ago... thank you for your reaction to it...🌿🌿🌿
Pentatonix is amazing. Best acappella. You would love Jordan Smith with Tommee Profitt ( pianist, producer) version. Jordan won the voice and sang it at the finale! He is a Christian artist and writer.
This is my favorite PTX song & I especially love it because Kevin, the beat boxer also sings on this one & he has the voice of an angel as well. This group is so talented & i DO like Matt, & he has a beautiful voce as well, but I also miss Avi.
HOME FREE..A Version of mary did you know? They take a whole different approach to it. Make it in a whole new song to me I think it's the best version.
Avi makes the low end better than without him - but even he is surpassed by Tim Foust, fuller and sweeter harmony in Hymn like application .... Home Free is such a strong vocal sound ! I think you may have missed their version ..... to have pronounced this "the best" you have heard. They do Oh Holy Night in absolute heavenly perfection as well. Just giving their due. jj
This song just stunned me when it came out. Since you're into Christmas, you need to check out Geoff Castellucci's God Rest Ye Gentlemen and Dan Vasc's Angels We Have Heard on High. Both are crazy good!
This is one of my faves. As soon as that wall of sound builds and slams into you I always get chills. There are other Acapella groups, like Voice Play and Home Free but they aren't even close to ptx's level. Love your reactions.
I just subbed. Loved your reaction. This song is one of my all time favorites and still gives me goosebumps. Oh Come All Ye Faithful is one you NEED to react to. With its Nigerian twist it is angelic 💕
I'm not sure where you live exactly, but they are doing a Christmas tour right now! Maybe you could see if they are coming close to you? If not, the last few years they've been having a recorded live concert that you can watch virtually. Not sure if they will this year, but I surely hope so since I'm in the UK and can't make it over to see it in person.
New subscriber here…I don’t mean to sound odd but you had the sweetest look on your face when Kevin began his part. It really touched me for some reason. Hugs!
This is the first video I ever watched of Pentatonix and has always been one of my favorites. I have been a fan of theirs for years. I love watching new fans react to their music. My daughter and son surprised me with an early Christmas present with tickets in a couple of weeks to their Christmas tour. I am so excited to see them live for the first time!
Loved this reaction...love this song! The group put out a new Christmas album (#8) just last moth and I think you'd like Please Santa Please ..the only official video from that album so far. They also included A Kiss From A Rose ( Seal cover) in the album and it's fantastic...as is their incredible rendition of O Holy Night. Other Christmas faves: Little Drummer Boy, O Come All Ye Faithful Love Came On Christmas Joyful, Joyful Carol of The Bells
Kevin actually has twice as many solo lines in this song as Kirstie - not something that happens very often! I'm totally stealing this phrase from another reactor - instead of their "wall of sound", this song has a "waterfall of sound".
Filmed in the cave they used to film the Burt West Batman series from the 70s. The way Kirstie was filmed to get the Mary halo just shows how meticulous they are in every thing they do
Took me a while to get to this as Christmas Songs are generally so cringeworthy! But, yeah- Wow! Of course! It's PTX! The thing that really stands out about the group is not their individually beautiful voices, nor their immaculate harmonies, but more, how they all work to make each other individually shine. 😍
