FYI for those folks here.. the engineer totally screwed this one up. He put compression on Kevin, which destroyed his bass transients, and EQ'd him down.. ..he boosted Avi too much.. and Kirsty and Mitch's mic's gain was too low. No idea who the heck was doing this, but they should fire him.
Why the frick are Kirstie and Mitch sharing a mic? Is it really that hard to get individual mics for an acapella group, who obviously needs mics much more than anyone one else does? Seriously. They sound good, because PTX always sounds good, but I'm mad about the mics and the engineer was crap. This could have been so much better. PLUS "The" Pentatonix"??? *sigh*
They should have like a sound team that goes with them to talk show performances and makes sure you can hear all the parts and also that EVERYONE HAS A MIC. If not a team, just one guy! .... like ME :D
they need a dedicated sound team for themselves, Sometimes they are not mixed well, avi and kevin need to be a bit louder and have some reverb on a track like this that needs alot of the instrumental
lol when avi was just trying to answer the question and that old man saying he's trying to show off.. wth with u... so u expect avi to not saying anything there because u are jealous of his voice? sometimes the inteviewer were sucks..
They are always such good sports, but the people who interview them can be such asses sometimes! They never correct someone who says THE Pentatonix, or say something like "back off and let us do our thing" or tell them FIVE mics. Period. What really good sports.
If you want to be be invited back, you can't really correct your hosts unless they get something important wrong, like a tour date, alas... You can't really go in demanding stuff. Maybe you can if you're Madonna or Lady Gaga, but otherwise, it's frowned upon :o(
Awesome spiritual connection. Your individual talents are truly astounding, but the texture of your voices together are unmatched when you harmonize it’s like one voice on several different levels. It’s like the voices from our history’s past are represent in your voices. (Hope you know what I mean). Something very magical about your group. I hope you stay together. Wish you much success!
I'll tell you, when you've got a low voice you find yourself pitching it up on the phone 'cause the cell nets can't handle the low frequencies. My "phone voice" sounds nothing like the way I usually talk. So I was glad to see Avi speaking in his normal voice. Am I envious that he hits those really low notes I can't quite hit... You bet I am. But when it sounds this good I don't care. I just can't wait for PTX Vol. 2.
@darkshani you're obviously not listening very properly then! Kirstie is so essential to the group! her voice is sharper more distinctive than Mitch's even though they're both the falsettos for the group, and she compliments Scott's voice very very well. Her voice adds a distinct resounding ring to their songs before Mitch's soulful voce cuts in. All of them are a perfect blend! so don't say that.
are you serious? not being to hear kirstie in this video is a prime example as to how important she is. her voice makes them sound so much fuller and stronger. they're ALL so so so important
Yes this is great putting Kirstie and Mitch on one mike is working fantastically! And why shouldn't Avi show off that speaking voice of his; we all want to hear more of it!
yeah her mic was reeeeally low. They really need someone to come with them and get their mics right when they do shows like this, the balance always sounds off when they do tv appearances.
Okay... so that hand held the guy is holding at the end during the interview...you know.. the one that he DOESN'T NEED because he's wearing a wireless lapel mic and they don't need because they still have their own hand held mics....WHY DIDN'T THEY GIVE THAT TO KIRSTIE SO WE COULD HEAR HER?????
Then you don't understand what makes music good in the first place. Contrary to most music nowadays, it takes more than a beat and a melody to make amazing arrangements.
But it's good, and it rounds out their sound. And I'm not sure, but you don't seem to get it. We know what a pentatonic scale is. Our beef is with the "the."
