12 years! Hard to believe Matt has been with the group 6 ! The same amount as Avi. The arranging of two songs on top of each other is always stunning! Thanks for the reaction!
I love these live Vevo videos! They should release one for all their songs. 😊 For a just music song to listen to, I think you'd LOVE their Once Upon A December from, I think, their 2021 (maybe 2020 🤔) Christmas album! They recreate the sounds of the old carousel 🎠 organ music with just their voices! It's beautiful! 💖 I especially love Kevin's high bell tones at the end! Seems like a lot of people think all high notes are Mitch but Kevin often goes even higher than Mitch!
I agree with you that they actually make the instrument sounds behind the soloist instead of just harmonies. I think that’s what truly sets them apart from other a cappella groups. I don’t hear the other groups do that. Pentatonix become the whole song and are the whole background instrumentals especially when there’s no beatboxing.
I am loving these VEVO sessions, whether it’s the studio or the way they keep getting better (how much better can they be?). Thanks for jumping right on this one, I always love your reactions. Peace …
I would think it would be really hard for Scott and Mitch at the end where they're singing different songs at different times but then overlapping the occasional note...hard for Scott to hold his quieter note against Mitch. I noticed he had his back to Mitch for a minute...wonder if that was to keep his 'place'. Beautiful song and I caught a few differences in notes from the official video. Thanks for the helpful reaction again - always enjoy your take.
Nice reaction as usual! I always enjoy your insights into some of the more "insider" tips and tricks performers use! I love that they put just enough changes into the songs so that if you're familiar with the studio version, you can almost instantly tell that they aren't lip-synching to that - they are really performing this live, in a single take for the camera! Not that it's different from when they're performing at a concert, where it's all "one take and live", but it's nice to be able to point out the differences to someone who's not as familiar with their original version.
Would love your take on the “live” aspect of their VEVO Live performances. Several reactors have claimed they are not totally live. I find it hard to believe PTX would label something “Live” if it’s not, plus I’ve seen them in concert and know how amazing they sound. Maybe there’s a different interpretation of “live” when it comes to this type of recording?
My question is, how much post are they doing at the Vevo studio? I know the "live" performance means they sang the song together at the same time in one take. But it seems like they've done some (a lot?) of post processing because its too damn perfect. They must have done at least some minor clean-up of pitch and time. Haven't they? In "Kiss From A Rose" there were more parts than could be explained by the five of them. There were violin string hits, additional cello harmony, and percussion in addition to beatboxing. I'm sure they're doing some post.
Thanks, Jacob! That was a great! Am I wrong, but I don't remember Kirstie's highs right at the very end in the MV.. Maybe they was there, but I missed those notes somehow.
@@perfectkismet , Thanks! I'm so wowed that that was Scott!!. I thought it was Kirstie because usually it's her or Mitch, and in the studio version it clearly shows her standing in between Scott and Mitch....so I assumed, that it's her singing the notes.
This is only barely, obviously different from the studio release and obviously live...it's like take #2 of 2 perfect performances. Unbelievable. If there IS any doubling of the backing parts, I really don't care. :-)
Nope! I had a big deal but the big takeaway is... musicality is subjective and your opinion ( regardless of random accolades) is meaningless against the people that music moves us to our core!
