Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RU-vid, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RU-vid. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RU-vid, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

All I can tell you is that you are in for an amazing ride my brother. The rabbit hole of Pentatonix is mind-blowingly deep. So brace yourself. "Kiss From A Rose", originally recorded by Seal, is a very recent cover that they have released. Check out the Official Vevo Video of it. It is getting great reviews. You will be enthralled by it.

Pentatonix a "brief" background. They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead); Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair),(Not in this Video) true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on RU-vid, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his RU-vid videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on RU-vid), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on RU-vid, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lDxIfwfCmQE.html&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/ Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list! Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. No dates YET! They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage. 4. It is "Pentatonix" there is no "The".

Pentatonix is the best A Capela group I have ever heard. And, they can sing anything. The guy in the white jacket is Matt & he replaced Avi. The other four are original to the group. The tall guy who started it was Scott. Mitch is the little guy in the middle & when he lets loose with his high voice, it is called being 'Mitch slapped'. Kirstin is the lovely lady & Kevin is the beat boxer. He also sings like an angel. They are all amazing. 'Hallelujah' & 'Mary did you know?' are both amazingly beautiful & Avi is in both. I also think you would love their version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Jaw dropping.

DUDE!!!! Welcome to the world of Pentatonix (PTX). You are in for a great experience. Any video you do is going to be phenomenal. They are all good. The best songs I have heard them do are their latest releases. "Kiss From A Rose" and "O Holy Night" are my new favorites. You have to react to them. The confidence and how comfortable they are with each other has made such a positive impact on their performances. They have finally broken out of their shells to become so good it's uncanny. The growth in the last 11 years is unmistakable. They are the best they've ever been. So proud and happy for them. My fellow Texan...I hope all is well with you. Sending you love from Notheast Texas!! 😊

Pentatonix is the only a cappella band to have ever won a Grammy, except they've won three (and been nominated for two more - they lost last year; we'll see whether they win this year on February 4). They're also the only a cappella band to have a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. You can't go wrong listening to anything Pentatonix has released; it's all gorgeous. But all pentaholics have our own personal favorites that we like to recommend. These are some of my favorites: • "Hallelujah" (the official video, with Avi) • "Hallelujah" ( a recent live performance, with Matt: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FqphhPapkoc.htmlsi=tC6Ew07JGeQKQvDL ) • "Imagine" (the official video) • "Run To You" (an original, written by Avi and Kevin) • "Happy Now" (another original) • "Daft Punk Medley" (their first Grammy winner) • "O Come All Ye Faithful" • "The Prayer" • "Bohemian Rhapsody" • "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" • "The Lucky Ones" (an original, written by Scott) • "Thank You" (an original, written by Scott and his then fiancé, now husband, Mark Manio Hoying, shortly after the end of COVID lockdown, about how much easier it was to get through that time because they were together) • "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth." This is a live feed from a concert they gave in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin's home town: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DbCasvcNx78.html Additionally, IF you're familiar with _"The Wizard Of Oz"_ (the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland), I recommend "Todrick Hall - The Wizard of Ahhhs (ft. Pentatonix)": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QkVeKb2igrg.html If you've never seen the movie it won't make sense, so take care of that first.

One thing to remember when doing PTX videos is to always check the release date. If it's prior to 2018, it will have the original bass, Avi Kaplan. After Jan 2018, it will be Matt Sallee (the young man in the white jacket). There are so many to choose from. One of my favorites from the Avi days is their cover of John Lennon's Imagine.

I agree with most comments below that Live is often better than the official video, but there is one song which HAS to be the official video first - Imagine - because it has a visual message which they cannot replicate live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NLiWFUDJ95I.html&pp=ygUSaW1hZ2luZSBwZW50YXRvbml4. Welcome to Pentatonix, ( or PTX for short) , Sean! There one of the world's best a capella groups and it shows with every cover or original they do. They have 3 Grammys and 5 nominations to their name as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! There's well over 200 pieces in their discography and us fans consider every cover they do as an upgrade...seriously. Not all the members are from Arlington Texas, but Scott Hoying ( tall blond guy), Mitch Grassi ( shorter dark-haired guy) and Kirstin Maldonado are. They all went to Martin High school together and knew each other well before that thru singing and musical theatre lessons. Kevin Olusola ( the beatboxer) is from Owensborough, Kentucky and Matt Sallee ( the guy in the white jacket) is from Baltimore, Maryland. They all got together ( with Avi at that time) in 2011 to compete on the Sing-Off, a TV competition for a capella groups. They won and gained a record contract with Sony...who cancelled the contract a week after they all moved to LA to start their careers.,,,citing they didn't think they could successfully promote a capella music. They didn't give up. The posted their songs ( covers mostly at that point) on RU-vid and got noticed...and eventually another recording contract with a subsidiary of Sony. They haven't looked back since!! More PTX songs to check out: Hallelujah, Bohemian rhapsody, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Mad World, Be My Eyes ( original), Kiss From A Rose, Prayers For This World (Original), Say Something, Havana, Shallow, Run To You (original) Oh...and there's a few in that list where Kevin plays his cello, Beyonce.

The members of Pentatonix: • First verse, tall blond guy: Scott Hoying, lyric baritone. Scott's range extends from about midway through a normal bass range to a fairly high tenor, probably about 5 or 6 octaves. • Second verse, dark haired guy next to Scott: Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), natural contratenor. Mitch has a range of just over 6 octaves, but he's most comfortable in his higher registers. He switches between chest voice, mixed voice, and head voice seamlessly, and is known for his ethereal high solos. Everyone in Pentatonix says he has the best voice of any of them. • Third verse, black guy in a white jacket on the far left: Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), lyric bass. It's hard to be sure just what Matt's range is, because it's still growing. To find his current range I recommend listening to a recent live stream of "Hallelujah": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FqphhPapkoc.htmlsi=tC6Ew07JGeQKQvDL . Matt's arrangement of the second verse seems to be designed to show off his full range, and it will blow you away. I don't believe he's at the basso profundo level yet, but I expect him to reach it within a year or two. On the high end he comes close to the top of a normal tenor range. I believe that Matt has the largest range of any member of Pentatonix, past or present. • Fourth verse, the only woman in Pentatonix: Kirstin (also called Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado. Kirstin sings anywhere from a low alto (though not contralto, which is the female equivalent of baritone) through coloratura soprano, the highest female range. And she has whistle notes on top of that which are off the charts. Lately Pentatonix has begun describing her as an "alto soprano." • The fifth member of Pentatonix is the black guy on the right: Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth syllable), beatboxer extraordinaire. Kevin is generally too busy being the entire percussion section to sing, but when he does sing he has a lovely tenor voice that occasionally dips into the uppermost reaches of baritone. He's also a pretty good rapper. Kevin has perfect pitch. He began piano lessons at age 4, cello at age 6, and alto saxophone at age 10. He beatboxes while playing the cello, a technique he calls "celloboxing." He performed at Carnegie Hall twice when he was a teenager, once on saxophone and once on cello. He graduated from Yale in 2011 with a pre-med major and had been accepted to Yale Medical School before he decided to become a professional beatboxer instead of a brilliant surgeon. He speaks five languages fluently: English, French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin Chinese. He's one of the kindest people in the world, and when he laughs he makes the whole planet seem like a brighter place. Matt joined Pentatonix in late 2017 or early 2018 (depending on how you figure it), after their original bass left the group for personal reasons in 2017. Which brings us to the one member of Pentatonix who doesn't appear in this video: • Bearded white guy who usually wore a beanie or stocking cap: Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan, lyric bass. Avi is an operatically trained basso profundo - his lowest notes have blown out speakers in live performances - but his range extends upward to about the middle of the tenor range. Since leaving Pentatonix Avi has gone on to have an extremely successful solo career; you can find his RU-vid channel here: youtube.com/@AviKaplanMusic I highly recommend subscribing. The appearance of Mitch and Kirstin tends to vary greatly from one video to another, so people will frequently think they see someone new in Pentatonix when it's really Kirstin or Mitch. With these two, go by their voices, not their appearance; their voices don't lie. To be clear: Avi is the ONLY member who's left Pentatonix and Matt is the ONLY member who joined later. Scott, Mitch, and Kirstin are childhood friends from Arlington, Texas, and in high school they formed a trio which they unimaginatively named "The Trio." They performed frequently at school functions and occasionally on local television. For this reason, pentaholics (Pentatonix fans) still refer to them as "the trio," and the trio is the heart of Pentatonix. Pentatonix publishes all their songs on RU-vid, even when they're selling them on an album. You can find their channel here: youtube.com/@PTXofficial When searching RU-vid for a specific Pentatonix song you can abbreviate "Pentatonix" as "PTX"; it makes searching easier.

I think it’s safe to say you liked it! New subscriber, here for Pentatonix. To give you an idea of their versatility, you may want to check out their cover of Hallelujah, their medley of Daft Punk songs (for which they won their first Grammy) and their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (yes, really). And then there’s a good 12 or 13 years worth of fabulous music to explore. One of their most recent is a cover of Kiss From a Rose (live VEVO music video, please), and it’s stellar. Additional favorites of mine are Can You Feel the Love Tonight, their original Coffee in Bed and their cover of a lesser-known song, Come Along. One note: You may have to blur or overlay the video with text or texture to get them to post. It’s a common work-around. I’m so glad you decided to delve into PTX! Peace from Ohio …

Subscribed for more PTX. They are amazing individually and together they create magic. Hallelujah is great. Imagine, The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Mad World, Can’t Hold Us, Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk and New Rules x Are You That Somebody are among my favs. The evolution of Michael Jackson and the 90’s Dance Medley are a start. Their originals Sing, Love Again, Coffee In Bed, Run to You, Happy Now are lovely. Their catalog is huge. They have songs in many genres. 3 Grammys and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ❤❤❤❤❤ Anything you choose to listen to will be wonderful.

I've been a fan since their Sing Off days and finally went to see them live last August. They're just as amazing live, if not more so. They've covered a couple of songs and I couldn't stand the originals, yet love the PTX versions. They've also introduced me to some other really good bands that I didn't know before listening to the PTX covers.

@@jodyjackson5475 There MAY be a better beatboxer than Kevin, somewhere, because anything is possible, but if so I've never encountered him or her. I've no idea how he does it, but he's incredible. I saw an interview a while back where Kevin mentioned that because they drink so much water (one of the ways they take care of their voices) they do a lot of burping, so Kevin has figured out how to incorporate burps into his beatboxing. Kirstin gave him a dirty look.

Sorry this is so long. One thing to remember is that 3 members have a 5 octave range, I don't know about Kevin, because he doesn't sing that much (I do prefer his normal tenor voice to his falsetto, but what do I know), that leaves Mitch, our boy Mitch has at least a 6.5 octave, and probably more, but he refuses to let others know his true top or bottom note. Part of that is he's afraid he'll hurt his voice, which I can understand. If the bass singer has a solo, Scott (the blonde) covers the bass part. Everyone can cover several parts. There has only been one personal change that was in 2017, Avi Kaplan the bass singer left for various reasons, mainly the touring schedule was too much for him, as he needed to be home more, and Matt Salee came on board. The face most people make when they hear Mitch's voice is called a Mitch Slap. If you want to see what they are capable of other than sounding beautiful, here is their Daft Punk Medley. If you don't know Daft Punk, you may want to look them up, so you can understand what is going on. Here are 3 versions, the official video, a live in concert, and in case you still have trouble believing they do it all themselves, here is a private performance, they are in a room, with noting but a cell phone recording them. So the volume is off a little (okay, it's hard to hear a lot, but you'll hear what you need to.) Daft Punk ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3MteSlpxCpo.html Live 2022 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a8PZ7_KMGM4.html Private ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tw4YCsHXKgI.html their record company is stupid when it comes to copyright issues. But most reactors I have heard from (about 25-30 or so) have found they copyright the video more than the audio, so if you will make the video more transparent, or blacked out and place some text over it (your name, Pentatonix, “covered with text for copyright”, a logo just anything, and then pause now and then to talk, it will help to keep from getting blocked. With their label and YT nothing is guaranteed, but from what the other reactors have said, this things create an 80%-90% improvement, at least you meet all the written rules, unless the reviewer is having a bad day.

Hey Shawn, I wonder if you'd be interested in checking out some more country music. If so, then give this one a listen "Roseanne Cash - Tennessee Flat Top Box (Official Video)" (by the channel: Roseanne Cash) --Roseanne Cash is an American singer, songwriter and author. She is also the eldest daughter of country music legend Johnny Cash and Vivian Liberto Cash-Distan. Johnny Cash's first wife, although she is often classified as a country music artist her music covers many genres such as folk, pop, rock and blues. As always, I enjoyed hanging out and rocking with you, bro. Thanks for sharing.
