I visited your channel before, but notice that you have not done any videos for 2 years, i hope you are well and i was wondering if you are planning on doing any more? The S1a or any of the pentax are popular ones for working on and the one thing that seems to be missing from the internet is curtain / shutter replacements or maintenance. Been following this Filmstrip Flips since I got into film photography last year! It's always satisfying to watch cameras getting broken down and fixed again. Getting a Pentax Spotmatic (an SLR), would widen my choices when shooting film since I use a PnS. Hoping for this channel's succes in the future! :)
Those shims are important to align the lens to the film plane. Keep track where they come out of. Reverse screw. The head will snap off if you mess this up, most cameras will not have them. Where is the ASA shutter speed strings to adjust the meter most cameras will have them and if fall off if you are not careful. How do you get the battery cover off once a battery leaks inside.
Great videos, very informative! We get to know the parts of a camera aside from knowing how to service them. I have a project in mind that an interchangeable camera would be helpful. Currently have a fixed lens rangefinder and a PnS. This channel deserves more subscribers, hope you get to 1k soon!

Siguro tulad ng ibang entry the reason why I deserve to win in this giveaway is that I also want to learn more about photography. There are other ways to learn, however learning through film camera seems to be the best way kasi it brings us back to the basics of photography. Also, since then I am fascinated with it wala lang chance to explore 'cause I can't afford to buy given that I am still a student.

I was always a big fan of film cameras ever since I touched one when I was 8 years old. I'm 16 now and still don't own one. I use my brother's, but whenever we go on a trip I would borrow his and he wouldn't let me because it's also his hobby. That's why I deserve to win the giveaway. Not only being stubborn to shoot film on my own, but at 16 years of age, I realized that there's much more when it comes to shooting film. The wonders and mysticism in shooting film are just like a fantasy. You don't know what to expect when shooting film, that's why it's exciting. I also encouraged my classmates to shoot film just for the essence of it. I want to be an influence on today's generation that the essence of something being documented on film is nothing but a feeling that you can pass on to everyone. I live by #filmisnotdead
i started to have massive interest in photography when i was thirteen. as i grew up, my fascination in taking photographs grew out as well. i only use disposable film camera so if ever i will be lucky enough to win this giveaway, this will be my very first slr film camera ! but most importantly, i have been meaning to learn more about shooting with film camera for a long time :-) edit: oh, and my birthday is in june, this will definitely be the perfect birthday gift.

I have an Spotmatic SP too, it works well except the light meter, it only reads well at the bulb position, i can adjust the needle with the aperture ring, but when i change the speeds it goes down, any idea or sugestion? Thanks in advance.

If anybody knows where to source them from in Europe and in particular how they are called in German, that would be great. I tried searching for "Stirnlochschlüssel", which I think is the German term, but I did not find this type of adjustable fine spanners so far.
Fell inlove with film last July 2020 bought a pns for 1k. Sadly, it broke. Bought another pns again but turns out the lens had fungus. Bought another pns again, but for some reason I don't have any luck in film cameras so its broken again. The goal was to try shooting an slr to explore and learn more about film. But right now I don't have any functional film camera. I want to win this giveaway, since I really love film but I don't have any money to buy because I am an incoming student intern. It would be great to have a this camera as I would like to document my journey as a student intern in film.
my camera’s lightmeter is no longer working, so i need to pull my lightmeter app every time which is kind of a hassle when doing street photog. it would be really nice to win this giveaway.

So i have a spotmatic with a jammed film advance lever. What do you recommend? I believe the gears at the bottom have siezed up and i am not sure how to get deeper into that system
@@Filmstripflips Thanks for responding. Yea, I think I see what you are talking about. I removed the top again and I can see the spring in there. I'm just not sure how to get it out of the way.
@@Filmstripflips With the top off. I was able to find the spring causing the interference. Pulling it out of the way was simple. I'm back in business. Thanks.
@@danc2014 good point. I just used a paper clip. Straightened it out a bit and put a small hook on the end of it. Insert it into the hole where the stem goes and pull up. May have to fish around for the correct spot but it’ll work.
@@danc2014 Can you tell me how to get the spindle shaft up into the hole so I can screw on the cap? Do I have to disassemble the rings on top (one is the film indicator).
