At Suvarnabhumi Airport we interview several people who are at the departure hall who are ready for take-off. Why are they leaving? Did they like Thailand and its people? What is so good about Thailand and will they return to the land of smiles?

Great to hear that your Mama had such an enjoyable time in Thailand, Chai, and I'm sure she'll come back next year to explore the south with you, assuming you are still there of course. Impressive that you were free to film and interview at the airport, no irritating security telling you to stop. I liked your Indian interviewee, he had some interesting things to say and I totally agree with his pearls of wisdom. Groetjes, en veel plezier verder in dat mooie land. 🙂

Ey Dik! Haha, I was surprised as well! They’ve seen me filming and they didn’t say anything. I did pick some places where there was no security check points or anything like it but the were patrolling around and they’ve let me do my thing nice enough 😃I’m at this airport again tomorrow and I’m hoping to make another one 😊 dankjewel! That was really cool. Some very nice perspectives. I particularly liked the Indian guys words of wisdom/message to the world. I have lived in Chiang Mai for years. Seeing Doi inthanon in the clouds totally reminded me of a day when we took our youngest up there almost 15 years ago.....exactly the same kind of weather....raining inside the clouds......she was but a few weeks old.....great memories, thank you for reminding me :) :) :)

Life has been far more free in the UK than in Thailand during Covid. UK - No more muzzles. Thailand = still wearing slave muzzles outdoors, which is extremely stressful. Freedom of speech = not perfect in the UK but you have far more of it than in Thailand. Thailand only feels more "free" if you're willing to accept certain restrictions, which by definition isn't "free".

Bangkok is far from being the noisiest city in the world (though it can be very noisy in some areas) and what you describe only applies to main thoroughfares. Head out to the suburbs, especially around the khlongs (canals) and it becomes peaceful and tranquil. Saigon is worse - far more motorcycles (ratio of motorcycles to cars is about 8 or 10 to one), which compares with the 45/55 split between motorcycles and cars in Bangkok. You do make a fair point - I hope that over the coming years, the ratio of motorcycles to cars continues to decrease. Thailand should make cars cheaper but motorcycles more expensive, so people are discouraged from buying the latter. Too many on the roads creates a danger to other road users and is a key reason for the high road toll. Get rid of the motorcycles and Thai roads aren't all that dangerous anymore, in international comparison.

01:20 waow, that was surprising. I like to see you with those sharp observations instead of the always Mr. Positive. I totally agree with you. For many Thais they unfortunately don't have a sense of freedom. They have to work 6 days a week for 10 hours a day, loan lots of money from the bank and hardly have any chance for a proper holiday. It's funny that some people, like this Norwegian man have no idea, even though he mentions he has a Thai woman. A bit strange but alright, ignorance is bliss.

Thanks mate :) don’t get too use to it though. 😌 I like to stay mister positive but I see myself also as a realist. I guess even with the limitations here I do see people experience more freedom although this is not always the case.
