For data management I only cut and paste files off of cards. So out of the past many years of filming I've never actually hit delete on files on a memory card because that's where human error can come in. When I cut and paste files off the card, I know that if the files aren't on the memory card now - then i transferred them somewhere onto some folder.
I'd say it's close to 100% of the time the files go missing. It's because of user error because they are deleting files in different places. I make a rule to never delete anything. I only cut and paste or on a Mac its command C and then command+option V to cut/paste/move files.
I actually learned that the card i was using had bad sectors. I ran a test on it when i got home and learned 20% of the sectors had gone bad. Extremely unfortunate that this happened but, at least i had an answer.
For all those seeing this video and knowing the feeling of your heart sinking when you’ve made a mistake (explainable or not) please backup your footage twice! Use Hedge or Shotput Pro. We have backups of cameras, cables, sound recorders so we should have backups of footage.
Happy belated birthday bro! Awesome seeing you travel for these gigs. I used to do a few destination weddings a year, I truly miss traveling for work outside of my local areas lol. Right now it’s just Texas and NYC for me.
I've been watching your videos for so long now. Can't believe I missed you in Twickenham Stadium where I LITERALLY WORK 😂 I worked for this Halo event, I remember literally watching the the video for the players you guys filmed for the players on the outside TV's. Such a shame I didn't get to see you there. But you're amazing keep doing what you do 🙌🙌
WAIT thats insaneeee!! That bums me out so much man. Crazy how small this little planet is! @lensofjared, DM me on IG, if I am ever back, ill hit you up!
Hey hey Jared, are you using a straight NPF to power your monitor or a dummy npf to dtap/dc? , shopping around right now for my new setup that I just got for Vmount and im unsure of the cable route to go to, was gonna to dc to dtap but I heard dummy to dtap is better!
How do you travel with all that gear? Are you checking in the big camera or take all in carry on? I traveled with small camera, computer and some accessories and almost ended up with too much weight.
Thank you! So, thankfully I am friends with them and the interviews weren't SUPER necessary...to supplement, I got some casters from the event to give me a good interview about the team and the results of the tournament. still a huge bummer
Leave files in place. I did it to 2tb of footage on cf express card tonight after edit during render i dropped card in trash then erased trash🤮🎉Thank You
