I love this, the soloist is very capable, the music delightfull, the use of the boys voices at the end sounded like a clarion of bells, whilst their diction had a masterfull clarity ,Mr Trepte I congratulate you, and of course the choristers.
Look East! Look to our Roots! Seeds of messiahship were scattered in Bethlehem then burgeoned. In such a garden there can be no war or poor. This carol and this choir scatters its message of love in Ely. I've happy a memory. Blest Holyday!
Proud to have been a contemporary of Paul Trepte whilst choristers in Leeds. We are meeting again at Worcester in January at the concert in memory of Dr.Donald Hunt (Gloucester/Torquay/Leeds/Worcester), our very first music teacher.
Beautiful arrangement of one of my favorite hymns. Plus a nice look at beautiful Ely Cathedral. Years ago, in 1989, I was doing a brass rubbing in the upper floor while the choir rehearsed below. A memory that is with me still.
This arrangement rocks! And so do these original words, unlike the version in our hymn book at church, where they've rammed as much pure Christian theology into four verses as they possibly can but destroyed all that lovely imagery.
