I've never commented on Chael's vids but I must now, it's always a pleasure to hear him express his insider/veteran perspective on MMA, I've always respected him as a fighter , now I know Chael has a natural ability to communicate and is always tuned into the mma world from an objective point of view.

the most important thing anyone can be in the sport/business is talked about, loved or hated, both are positives. Conner is that, he is the extreme to almost everyone fans of foes.

Conor McGregor became a star because he was fearless and called everyone out in his division and the division above his and backed up what he claimed!! U don't get anywhere if u call someone out and then lose!!! His first what 8 fights in the UFC he called not only wins but called the round in which he was gonna knock the opponent out that is LEGENDARY!!! That's why he became a star Chael simple as that!

All of his actions made him who he is today. Talking, confidence, funny, losing with class, etc. BUT everyone forgets his accent was a big attraction. This is an American company now worldwide.... but his accent to Americans at least was appealing. An American would not have done as well with the same exact story.

Good argument from Chael here. It is easy to see Conor employing the same skills in mental warfare on the corporate side--he did very well with them in the octagon (except against Nate Diaz). It should be pointed out that Conor rarely called out potential opponents; he tended to simply say that the rest of the division, especially Aldo, was no match for him and afraid of him (vulgar version) and the opponents basically just lined up like ducks in a shooting gallery.

Conor was a huge star because he talked sooo much shit that he was incredibly polarizing and then he called his shots so high, that it was like watching a man walk a tight rope. And on top of that, he was knocking mother fuckers dead consistently within the first 2 rounds. It was incredibly fun to celebrate and rub it in for all the haters that bet against Conor, and every victory made his haters that much more invested in NEEDING to watch him fall when he makes a mistake and loses.

Thank God for a mind like Chael in MMA. He is vital to the perspective of our sport. Love his ability to present his thoughts and opinions in an articulate well thought out manner.

Conor has been hiding too long, I don’t even know why people still have hope for him? He literally watched his belt get stripped and being given to khabib instead of defending it.

McGregor does hold the power when it comes to him fighting or not. He knows that nobody in the UFC will pull in the PPVs that he brings. He also is making millions outside of fighting so if the UFC want him to fight then they have to entice him with an offer he wants. McGregor absolutely holds the power here.

Advertising 101 is to beat people to the punch. That way all competitors are essentially forced to speak relative to what you already said first. What I want to know is whether or not Conor did this on purpose early on, or if it was something he picked up on once he had momentum.

I feel like the point about actors and Conor is wrong though. Like if Conor McGregor fought 4 times in a year (which, granted, is very unlikely to happen) he would double the PPV sales for the UFC for that year. If Johnny Depp made 4 movies in a year, they wouldn't sell the same as the rest of the movies worldwide combined. Also, there's more than one movie star. There's only one star in MMA at the moment and it's Conor. There is no alternate that even comes close to his value. While Conor definitely needs the UFC contractually, they definitely need him to do well (especially after the WME sale).

actually when tmz asked Mark Wahlberg if Conor was going to get free shares in the ufc he said Conor would have to cut a check like everyone else. so you're wrong on that one chael. also wrong on Conor not holding all the chips. he absolutely does. I'm not saying the ufc's survival rests with him, but he is the only star left. period. so they will survive without him, but they will not make big bucks without him. Ronda and Jones are gone. even the man himself Anderson Silva is inactive and even if he was, his draw these days is paltry compared to conor. there's nobody even close to having the perfect storm like conor, and it will be another decade or so at least before another perfect storm happens like that again.
