Mike Israetel has been mentioning hypertrophy from moderate weight vs heavy weight exercise as being pretty comparable, so long as the sets are taken to near failure. But I wonder... does heavy weight actually do a better job of stimulating bone density increase and more response from the tendons and ligaments? A heavy deadlift is simply going to deflect and compress and stretch the structures more than light weight, regardless of rep count. Has this been well studied?

Honestly, not very much has been well studied. I would just recommend that you keep both of these options in your arsenal and use them as often as you think appropriate.

What about using isometrics to maintain strength as we get older? It's also great for mobility and tendons,etc...

I think those are underrated exercises. That’s a good point.

As a swimmer, I doubt it makes much difference. Just lifting weights, heavy or light, low rep or high rep, is better than just swimming. I’m 66 and train for endurance races like the mile. You can’t be competitive without lifting.

I recommend you print it out yourself. I’ve moved to this format for a lot of reasons and I’m discussing changing it in the future but for right now that’s the best option.

Dan, I'm very old school and like books better than screens. Will ABC come out as a book. Thank you for all you do, Rick

I’m just not sure when. That’s what we were discussing a few weeks ago, but there’s a lot of things that need to be done.

How does doing age appropriate sets of 8 or 10 or 12 reps fit with Easy Strength for Fat Loss?

I'm in my late fifties. A couple of years ago, I switched from doing sets of five to sets of eight because eights are easier on my joints.
