@@YouDoNotKnowMe99That was during his Hollywood Rock run. If I remember correctly I guess it was against Hurricane where he gets a call and says it's nothing and it knows you, referring to Hurricane as nothing.
Nah, he was never as popular as The Rock. He stayed and won more titles and had a great career, eventually becoming COO of the company, but there are very few on par or above with The Rock's popularity and Triple H isn't one of them.
@@Wrestlelesson That's the beauty of The Rock. He had so many different versions. Rocky Maivia Nation of Domination era Rock Corporate Champ era Rock Rock n Sock connection Rock People's Champ era Rock Hollywood Rock Dwayne Johnson Rock
Literally the rock was instigating the crowds reaction through charisma. That is what is still speacial about him today his ability to read the room and crowd is unmatched. Vince took notice of stuff like this and was like ok let’s go full tilt with the rock and gave him the green light to start talking the most legendary shit talk ever.
What’s great about this heel persona is that we got a Hollywood version of it in 2003. The Rock had layers and the people couldn’t help but to admit how funny he was and how much he could control the crowd. He just had IT.
@@BlackFlightNYthe problem isn't changing. Its changing and becoming lame. You can't change and stop hitting the club coz you grew up, but you can't lose your sense of humour too and claim its coz you grew up
Its even worse to be a hated babyface. Atleast with being a Loved Heel you'll get cheered and the company will turn you into a face, whereas being a Hated Babyface the company won't turn you heel and still keep you a babyface for along time.
I showed my roommate which is about 14 years younger these clips. He only know him as Dwayne Johnson in movies, blew his fkn mind lol. No one drops promos like the Rock!
Hard work, persistence, and trusting your own branding is what this is all about. GOD Bless moment's like this in everyone's life where people see what you bring to the table and show well-deserved respect.
yeah...no. we love trying to "UNDERSTAND" everything and break everything down to a scientific formula when it's not even called for. No bruh. Majority of the reason Rock and Austin got over the way they did is the reason WWE is so bland today.... "PERSONALITY". Everybody in WWE sounds boring and do THE EXACT SAME THING EVERY SINGLE WEEK. These guys did THEIR OWN THING and brought THEIR OWN PERSONALITIES to the storylines. Nobody in WWE nowadays SOUNDS different, ACTS different or even LOOKS different. they all look like knock-offs of a former wrestler and sound boring af on the mic. We didn't even use to BREAK DOWN WHY we liked things back then. We used to just "STFU and WATCH THE PROGRAM" that's part of the reason that it feels so watered down as well, because we're trying to "EXPLAIN" Stuff that doesn't need to be explained 🤦♂️
This must’ve meant a lot to him, he had to work heel because the crowd hated him, found himself and developed his character and finally got the audience appreciation 😊👍🏻
@@vapaman3353 man what you must haven't watched wwe in the .last month dude been doing killer promos notice how everyone have step there mic skills up since he came back as a heel. showing why he one of the goats wwe at its best its been for years
@@antonioshango4630 Never said he wasnt the goat. But it the last few years, he is getting more boos than ever. Even he was surprised at the boos he got at several moments.
@@vapaman3353 yeah because we love when he is a heel lol at his best when he is a heel this the best we seen the rock in 20 years and everybody loving it. He got boos because they love heel rock why you think when his music hit everybody on the area is out of here seats screaming lol even when they hate him they love him. This version of the rock done made everybody step there game up even Roman doing good promo lol
@@antonioshango4630 he actually did an interview and discussed how surprised he was when people booed him and roman when he put his support behind roman. He was expecting people to jump on the roman bandwagon cause he gave his support. That is why he eventually went heel, cause his support wouldnt change the way the fans saw roman.
This wasn't the first time. It's the same timeframe to be sure, but it started before he came up with "this isn't sing-a-long with The Rock". The first time I remember him acknowledging what was happening, he simply said something like "don't do that". I'm assuming he immediately realized how non Rock-like that sounded and understood that he was gonna need a catchphrase specifically for this, and he stuck with "sing-a-long" until he officially turned sometime after WrestleMania.
We always give credit to the attitude era and the superstars on top of their game at that time. As well we should. But you have to give credit to the crowds back then as well. It was just such a different time.
There was a time that this also happened and The Rock basically told the crowd that when the time was right he would turn babyface again but as of now they needed to shut up lol.
@Big_3000 facts!!! They wouldn't even let him get his scripted lines off😂😂😂 that's like going to work and everyone you come across stops you from doing your job just to look cool😂😂😂
I remember when this happened. One of the best heels the company has ever witnessed and everyone started to appreciate how good he was. His baby face turn was gradual and natural.
Was loving it haha. Forever classic. Rock was so over even as a heel people couldn’t help it. It was happening even before this to a lesser extent when he was still ruler of the Nation in Aug 98 or so. I remember the ladder match at sunmerslam and MSG had some faint “rocky “ chants during the March. Then he left the nation and everyone started to love him
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Rock when he was a Heel. Especially that first run he was simply Amazing! I never seen anything like it. When he was leader of The Nation and the Corp Champ it was all GOLD His segments had me glued to the Tv during this time period!
This is literally the actual moment irl I started switching over from wcw to wwf . And in years coming, not turning on wcw at all, and then hearing that wcw was leaving the air. I was like 8 years old and felt what bittersweet felt like.
@@T.H.U.G Yeah, u r right, dear, but I asked u this question because I noticed that she wanted to smile & laugh at The Rock’s situation, because The Rock is known for his comedic style, & he never fakes it 😁
@@Speedyreedy1218 that's when he says his catch phrase. Different from the Roody Poo statement. But I see he didn't break character and stayed in his heel role. Didn't become a face.
I remember when this happened, it was bubbling for a while but when this happened you knew it was officially over he was unstoppable now. You could tell he was surprised
The wwe couldn’t even dream of such engagement from a crowd. This is exactly why this guy can’t be replicated no matter how many new faces they keep trying. He’s a heel but the crowd loves him 😂😂. Only seen him & stonecold loved despite heel turns
The Rock was best in his first 2-3 years. Not Rocky Maivia, but when he first turned heel, that next 2-3 years were magic. I feel like he became too polished after that. I will say, that heel promo he cut on Toronto was one of the greatest promos ever. Like that HBK promo in Montreal.
I’ll say it again. The rock best moments was when he was with the corporation. Every catchphrase, every gesture, everything he did then was is what what made him great today.
