I got really worried every time Indonesian dish got featured in videos that they are not bringing its best version. Like this holiday meal of Indonesia : Rendang, Opor Ayam, and Nastar. You will get best taste from homecook only. I never eat those meal in the fancy restaurant since they're tend to tone down the flavor. but hey, Indonesia represent!

Since the Philippines or anything Filipino are being featured here so constantly, what you feel is what we always feel everytime they feature Filipino food and it seemed so luckluster for the same reason the food are just always the best when they're homecooked by the Filipinos themselves.

@@olly783 I honestly think they were trolled on this one. I get the UK tie, with original Yule Logs (not the cake) dating back to the Iron Age and is tied to the Celtic Brits and Gaelic Europeans. But, the whole thing totally comes off as a troll and a joke played on people who didn't even take the time to fact check what they were being told...lol. It would have taken them all of a few moments to look up traditional holiday grub in different countries on the internet. But, instead of doing that, they published a video full of rubbish and now they have loads of comments telling them how BS it all is. I really wish they did a better job with this video. :)

The indonesia's one is what they served during the celebration for the final day of Ramadhan. Tbh as indonesian i didn't get it because they didn't mention each name of the food in the beginning. This is BS. I live in the UK and have NEVER seen or heard of people traditionally eating yule logs with hot chocolate for Christmas. Yes we have Yule logs (who doesn't its like going to some random Asian or African country and having a burger or a pizza doesn't mean its from there) but those are traditionally a french dessert

We called the pineapple tart as 'nastar' (ananas taart) and always eat a lot of that especially during big holiday season like Eid and Christmas. It taste sweet with a nice hint of pineapple filling, and melt in your mouth.. yum! 🤤

The coconut beef stew, they called here "Rendang" (It's really popular in Indonesia and it got records for the best food in the world if im not wrong) coconut curry called "Opor Ayam", it's basiclly for celebrating Eid Mubarak. and it always served with that rice cube or we called it "Ketupat" here. pineapple tart called "Nastar" it's also for celebrating Eid Mubarak, or it's also can be served for Celebrating Christmas in Indonesia. . Same. Panettone is Italian for starters. I've had them separately, but never together like that and definitely not dipped in chocolate sauce like that.

Isn't the first one from Italy? Because those are the food we eat in Christmas (I'm from Italy): they are "panettone", "tronchetto di Natale" and "cioccolata calda"!!! Oh, and that "fondue" is a drink, not a dipping sauce. Yes, you can dip some bread but it's not common. You should drink it when it's hot: it's so nice and comforting and it will warm you from the freezing weather of Christmas ;)

(You used "it’s a french/Italian dish" as an argument for your claim that "No one in the uk has hot chocolate like that"). I agree that it is not UK tradition or even widely spread, but I also think you got it wrong by claiming 'No one in the UK...' - especially since the 'Superfam' that sent the info in, seems to be one that does. It would be nice though, if the channel would research a bit more, to check if something sent in like that, is actually a tradition or even just widely spread in that country, instead of some random person or family just having their own small family tradition.

Can't believe my fellow Indonesians fail to recognize the dishes here just because of the presentation SMH 🙄 Pineapple tarts = nastar, rice cakes = lontong (or ketupat, it doesn't look very compressed TBH) , coconut beef stew = rendang (although it looks more like a kalio), and coconut curry = opor. It's a staple combo for every celebration such as Eid al-Fitr, Lunar New Year, and yes, Christmas, too.

As a resident of the UK, more specifically Scotland, Whilst we eat/drink all of these (anytime of the year) I can say that the Panettone, Yule Log and hot chocolate isn't British, Panettone is Italian and Yule Log is French and hot chocolate is worldwide. Christmas Pudding is a British holiday food

Am I gonna be the only protesting Czech here? Well, do not trust your superfans that much, I guess! They got that potato salad right, but it comes with fried fish, not chicken. Children can get chicken sometimes, I guess, until they learn to eat fish. And I mean, EVERYBODY eats it like this on Christmas. So no idea where the chicken came from, unless the fan is a child, of course.

They might have thought they were being asked for their personal Christmas food, which wouldn't be the same as the Christmas foods that all British people eat? In the English Midlands, for example, the breakfast meal we like to eat would be pork pies. Though that's not common in other parts of the UK.
