I watched a lot of his videos and read a lot of old articles about him. I could easily put Cruyff as the 3rd best player of all time, only behind Pelé ans Messi, and above Maradona. What most people forget or dont know about Cruyff is that he was insanely good but also versatile with lot of qualities even on the defence.
Bernt Schuster was an absolute beast for West Germany (as it were called back then) and the two Madrid clubs that he went on to represent after his time with Barca. Proper old school midfielder. I loved 80's football, where midfielders had to be extremely tough, and Bernt Schuster was definitely that.
Schuster was nothing like Roy he had far more technique midfielders but then had to be far more physically resilient because Defenders would kick you like they were playing Street Fighter she was there was elegant and had a great range of passing he was also a lot less physical than Roy he didn't just walk up to a guy and try to break his legs because he took the ball away from him.
I don't see this as a compliment, on the contrary. I see it as an honor for the opposing team to sign someone who played for the rival. It shows that the guy was so good that the team thought: "if we can't beat him I have to have him on my team".
Zidane is the most overrated nostalgic player. I swear if his name was Robert instead of zidane he wouldn’t be in this list. He did not change football in a universal level like the other guys
@@jenni431 lol his prime was like 5 years in total before he hurted his leg and ended his career when he was like 33. While CR7 was balling in Juve at 35.
Pep acknowledgment to Cruyff being the goat is impeccable 🐐. Cruyff made the biggest impact on football of all players. Not only on the field the best player of his generation, but also the best manager bringing barca it’s first CL victory and the base of the barca we see today.
Na I disagree. He had a great impact but it was the Hungarians who literally did all the hard work while Cruyff seems to get all of the credit despite his own acknowledgment that it was Hungary not himself who are the fathers of modern football
Maradona has stated that the Holland team of '74 played a style of football that was never seen before and has never been seen since, his personal favourite team of all time. Cruyff lead this team both technically and tactically. For me Cruyff is one of the GOATS
@@jarraandyftm i dont think you know what plastic means his relatives couldve been supporting liverpoool or he was from around that area and he couldve loved watching a player from barca, it is completely normal as long as it is in different leagues madrid way more dominant and better than barca so i dont think he chooses barca over madrid anyday if he was actually plastic 😂😂😂
If Schuster had not clashed with the German Federation, he would be more remembered. He even won the Euro in 1980 with the (then) West Germany. He was something!
True. He also won the Silver Ball in 1980, only after Golden Ball winner Rummenigge. The Germany squad was studded with stars and Schuster would have been a jewel in the crown.
Barcelona saw nothing in Pep when he played in youth, he would be too short and not have a strong physique. However, Cruyff chose Pep when he was a teenager because he thought Pep was a smart player. He taught Pep to play with his brain and not just with his feet. Since then, Cruijff has been his second father.
It does surprise me when you have some Muppet born after the year 2000 and talks down on players like R9. Yet you would be hard pressed to find managers and previous legends not include this man in their team. The younger generation really think football started when Messi and CR7 came onto the scene.
Just watched a post mentioning the only four coaches reaching three or more UCL semifinals... according to those kiddos just Tuchel, Guardiola, Ancelotti and Mourinho have done this. It's amazing they don't know Ernst Happel, Louis van Gaal, Marcello Lippi (my favorite coach ever).
He named Schuster ❤❤❤ Such an underrated Player. So many German players from the 70s 80s 90s 00s could join all-star teams and are seldom talked about Almost the whole 1990s squad for example. Just talked about them the other day
My man, Pep did it all at Barcelona. He started as a ball boy, then became a player, and later managed the club to many trophies.🙌 Although I am a Real Madrid fan, I admire three team members from Barca: Pep, Puyol, and Messi. And in the future, Yamal may also join this list...
@@gsweetz7230only an idiot would think he wouldn't say Messi. He's said Countless times that Messi is his GOAT. He was obviously going to say Messi next😂
As a german i confirm Bernd Schuster was a genius but he has problems with the DFB thats the reason he made not so much games for the national team but win the european cup with germany
@@JarrettMehldau Gerd Müller was a very, very good player, a legend of german and world football. But he was not technically so good to consider him the at the same level of Beckenbauer or Schuster.
@@carlossimancas9867 I don't think being technical is the end all be all metric for a player's quality. Pires and Guti were more technical than Ballack, I don't think were better though. Neymar is more technical than Henry, Mbappé even Cristiano, but is he better? Özil was more technical than Thomas Müller, Kane is more technical than Haaland, but are they better? Ibra was more technical than Eto'o, Marcello was more technical than Roberto Carlos, doesn't mean they are better. There is something to be said for athleticism, positioning, decisiveness, impact on the field - that's why I think Gerd Müller is the German GOAT.
@@JarrettMehldau Good comment. I was simplifying about Müller, so I’ll try to explain it better. When I consider great players, they all have in common several qualities, but specially three: they have a wonderful understanding of the game, they have a superb technique, and they are physically dominant (strength, speed, resistance…). If we talk about scorers or strikers, I can see those qualities in players like Puskas, Eusebio, Kempes, Van Basten, Romario, Cristiano Ronaldo or Halaand, for instance, but not in Gerd Müller who, by the way, was a very good player, but not at the level of those mentioned. BUT If we talk about midfielders, I clearly see those qualities in Beckenbauer or Schuster (not in Matthaus), that’s why I believe they were the best football german players of the last sixty years. I do think that people like Seeler, Netzer, Rummenigge, Breitner, Gerd Müller, Matthaus, Klinsmannn, Kahn, Effenberg, Thomas Müller or Kroos were wonderful players, but I dont think they were the best in their respective positions
Great choice Pep, I respect a lot more for this, these football illiterates that overhyped current players will never understand what those people were
@harrysnothead8939that may have been one of the biggest tales Brazilians and R9 fans like to tell. And even if he was actually sick, you never know what would have happen, it's SCI-FI
Love to see Pep recognising Cruijff for what he is. One of the greatest of all time. Criminally underrated. In the convo with Pele, Maradona and Messi for sure
I don't think Cruyff is underrated. Only those under 15 who believe Neymar is one of the best ever players might do such thing. Cruyff is the best European footballer ever.
all la masia kids are, he was a ball boy because that was a part of his la masia education, messi/xavi/Iniesta have all been ball boys at camp nou at some point
@@Fuckluv415 pep replied quickly before he heard rio say about R9...he was quick since at first before hearing him say R9 he thought he meant cr7 since ferdinand is a united legend
@@kwadwoasamoah103 well..I guess it depends where you're from..here in Portugal it's usually played with a GK,even if you don't have the skills to be in goal, what usually happens is everybody will rotate in goal for like 5 min or if a goal is suffered, in Portugal we have futsal roots, almost everybody that plays this friendly games or amateur tournaments plays or has played futsal once in their lives..I can only recall playing with no GK when I used to play in the streets with friends 2x2 or 3x3 with rocks or backpacks as goal posts xD And trust me,as a GK I can play really good with my feet cuz as a futsal gk you really need to be able to play almost like a field player.
