I'm a true Salt-N-Pepa fan and Spinderella was truly a member of the group. She played a vital role not just as a DJ but she danced, rapped and brought her energy to the group.
She got paid for her appearances. She didn't write, produce, or own anything....this is a business. You get paid for what you sign a contract for....sorry

She was not an EP and still EPs don't make you an equal member contractually in a group. She signed contracts for the services she rendered. Cheryl and Sandy bought the rights to the group, name and future earnings from Herbie who actually started the group, he also wrote, produced hit records for them and he isn't going on and on about not being an equal member. People do not understand the record business they are in their feelings and don't read the contracts they sign.
Drucella it’s not the “cracking” that drives these folks to go under the knife, it’s the self-hate of their natural phenotype that they wish to address by “buying” features deemed as more acceptable in today’s society at large. Non Sub Saharan features are often celebrated, especially “white” ones, whilst ours are shunned and associated with negative and embarrassing traits, oftentimes subtly in these days of political correctness. It’s a shame that many (like Pepe 😢) succumb to the mental torture of having a sub Saharan African phenotype in this world that values women on mostly / solely beauty (the “Western” type, that is). sad but true, but Herby was greedy and even tried to not give Pepa any rights in the group, but Salt wouldn't have it. but with Spin she wasn't there from the beginning and Salt or Pepa didn't know her when she became a part of the group. so she was just an employee, sorry fans don't like it, but she wasn't on SNP level. she has no right to get what she truly wants. she went above and beyond her post and helped build the brand but just like a job if you're the drive-through window worker, why you back there flipping hamburgers? sometimes that can pay off, and the boss will upgrade you, but not always. she tried to do more but at the end of the day Salt and Pepa have the right to not give her a 3rd of the business. at the end of the day money talks, they not giving away their money when they don't have to. sorry. but they in the right legally, and any chance she had to get what she wanted was destroyed when she sued them. but good for her for getting her money from them 15 songs, but after sueing them you best believe they are some hard feelings, and this why she not in the movie much, many other people's images were in the movie, and they had no input as well or money. sad they couldn't work it out. they been going back and forth for over 10 years trust me, i use to keep up with everything from them. but Salt n Pepa probably sick of fighting over it. after Salt came right out and told her it wasn't going to happen, as well as Pepa said nobody coming in between her money. she doesn't have the legal right for what she is fighting for. the only thing she has a right to is them 15 songs and that's why they had a settlement to pay her off for that, because they made a mistake in not knowing they owed her for them songs she had verses on. sad but true. she gone for good the bridge is burnt down on both sides.

Pepa is so much into herself and has made her poor daughter that way. The show Hip Hop has really shown her true colors. Like mother like daughter. Spinderella actually had more talent then Salt & Pepa.And actually Salt was a way better rapper singer than Pepa will ever be. Spinderella spinned and sang and she danced with them and to leave her out is a disgrace in the upcoming movie.

Coco T not to be funny but if you actually listened to Salt N Pepa. You would know that on some of their biggest songs she had a whole verse and actually rapped on the song. She also performed with them numerous of times with them and not behind turntables and she was in the videos. These are things a group member does not “just a dj”
Messiah Black yeah but it was the 80s and she was young and hungry. She was trying to make some money and get in the game. Never did she know at the age of 16 what the future would hold and she probably didn’t have a support system to help guide her.

You are correct because Run DMC and Jam Master was always together from the beginning. Also back during that time, men had a stronger voice in the industry. With Salt-Pepper, and Spinderella, they had to do what they were told to do because MEN were the head of the industry.
This is why I'm confused cause the whole time I thought she was a member of the group. She was in all the videos, she was on album covers, she did live performances with them. Anybody old enough to remember Black Beat, Right On, Word Up and Vibe magazines know how all the posters and photos and articles written on them had the three of them, not two. They claim she was "just the DJ" but they practically used her as the third member of the group (whether it was them or the label, it still happened). Even though the group name is 'Salt-N-Peppa', they were marketed as a trio with Spin. Like Spin was saying about Run DMC, Jam Master J was "just a dj" but he was still considered a member of the group. I know SNP likely had a different kind of contract than Run DMC, but they were marketed as a trio and that's why most fans thought she was a legit member. For them to come out years later and say she was never a part of the group is confusing and low key manipulative. Spin might be right that girl groups were big in the 90s and the label, or whoever, wanted to promote them as a trio to keep up with the TLC's and SWV's of the industry. IMO Spin got done dirty no matter how you wanna "spin" it.

She stopped being recognized as a full member in the late 90s when a record label offered a GIANT, BIG MONEY contract to the group. Cheryl & Sandy were quick to call her an employee as a way of not having to split the coin evenly. But the “signed Spin to the record label” that was a part of this big deal they signed with supposed plans for Spin to have a solo record. Then the SnP album flopped, the label went out of business and the group broke up for a half decade or so. Cheryl & Sandy have been cutting corners on Dee for DECADES! It’s a shame but it’s all about the money.
First album I owned was Very Necessary with Spin on the album cover. You can't tell me she had a big role in the group. Love these ladies regardless, but they did Spin dirty.
If she was brought in with someone else under another contract that did not have anything to do with Salt and pepper, Then yes its called Sharing. My only problem with this is...I've heard Salt and Pepa say " Yes, Spin is the 3rd member of the group" However, it seems when it comes to the money, she's always reduced to "Ohh, you're just the Dj, and a hired employee!" Personally, I'm confused. So, I can understand why Spin, herself, has been as well. Not to mention, yes...they were "Salt n Pepa" before Spin came along. However, Spin came in before they ever had a video, or only 1, and before any publicity photos were circulating. And when they finally did get marketing/publicity photos...Spin was right there in the middle of the photo, being portrayed as a member of the group. And her image has been part of their brand ever since. And I take that back, the only marketing photo she wasn't in was the 1st album cover. Maybe, not there from day one, but definitely from beginning of when the world starting to know who Salt n Pepa was a hip hop/rap group. So much so...that I never knew she wasn't there there from the very beginning. I think Salt n Pepa helped to create this confusion by referring to her as, and promoting her as a the 3rd member!
Lesson for all ..It doesn't matter what it look like .What does the contract say ..Spin should have looked out for herself and got a lawyer to see where she stood once Herb got dismissed as it was Herb that brought her in ..The girls never liked her and never contracted with her ... No. You have no proof. Mediation is closed and is not for public. The judge sent the case to mediation because it was probably open and close case. At least two interviews show salt and Pepa talking as if they are satisfied with the result. Spin on the other hand still seems disgruntled. She was mad for decades that she was not a legal third. But they hired her as an employee only and they have told her they were not making the group a trip for decades. Spin can go cry everyone a river. She just sounds spoiled and delusional like she thinks she has absolutely no value apart from being a legal third of the group. Her self esteem must the very low.
