Peperomia c.v. 'Star Wars" has leaves that are shaped and colored like a StarWars Star Destroyer.

Thank you for another great video. I just have the Obtusifolia in Leca and it looks much healthier! As you say Nora - “Living her best life in Leca!” I’m changing over all my soil plants to Leca (only 3 more awaiting pots! 😀) I sometimes leave the older ones in water for a few days before I pot them up in Leca. Perhaps it is just my imagination but it seems to get more of the soil off the roots that way.
@erikm8372

Not your imagination! I've had a couple cuttings in water for six months that now have massive roots, so they're just begging to go to Semi Hydro. Haven't even fertilised the water or changed it!

I've tried to grow 2 or 3 different Peparomia in leca with no success. Most of my plants love it, but there are a few that just aren't triving or they straight up died. But all in all, I much prefer leca to soil any day of the week! I'm happy to see your Peparomia doing so well!

Maybe they were like my Rugosa!😁

I think I'm gonna try it but I'm gonna start with something common like "Frost" or P. caperata "Russo", since they're easily replaced and I already have some cuttings rooted in water, for about six months now. I've done nothing with them but their water roots are extensive. It would be a shame to lose now, but I think the 'long method' is probably better for Pep's if you're putting in LECA. I'm scared to even touch any recent ones I've purchased, like my pride and joy raindrop Polybotrya. Their root systems are soo fine and delicate, and each time that I've repotted a Pep it's hit or miss. I've also noticed the growers wrap mesh around the root ball. I wonder if that's an issue in the end?

That's my Peperomia Watermelon....just refuses to take up the leca lifestyle!!! I've tried 3 times with no success. I know it's possible cos Nora has done it. I think the plants I've used were just not healthy to begin with...🤔

Also, did you find these at Bunnings or somewhere else, cos they look healthy. The ones in our local Bunnings stores are pitiful. I might need to venture out of my local area to some stores that actually give a hoot and look after the plants. I know that a lot of the regional Bunnings staff do a bonza job in their prospective garden section. Great vid Nora 👌🏼

I just love your videos! I'm working on getting some Begonia maculata wightii props I've had in water for months into LECA. This will be my first try and I'm so thankful for your tips! I noticed your peperomia stems lost their color. Do you know is that common or why it happened?

"Things are gonna start HAPPENING!!!!!" you crack me up!😂 I love love love your peperomia collection...pity about the Rugosum 😰 Your Schimi Red looks well established too. I noticed the red isn't as pronounced as it was when you first got it. Mine has done the same...do you have any clue as to why and whether it needs something specific to get that deep red back? I'm loving the frosty too...might get me one o those 😉

Have you tried the pepperomia Hope? The lady at the nursery told me it won't transition. It's a new tiny one just getting started, was propagated in soil at the nursery. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Not yet! I have not. Why did she say it would not transition?
@arc0330
@arc0330 7 месяцев назад
@@TheLecaQueen her reasoning was that it's more like a succulent and wouldn't thrive in water. I tried to explain my intention of transferring it to semi hydro, leca. She insisted that since it was propagated in soil it wouldn't survive. I re-watched your pepperomia video and the "long method" video but thought it safer to get your opinion 😊

I just found you! I think I'm gonna really enjoy your videos, lots of good info. I was wondering. I noticed all the plants lost the beautiful color in their stems? Is there a reason for that? I was also noticing (though it could just be the change of light between the first part and the second part) but they look alot lighter in color in general? I'm just starting to experiment with semi-hydro so am still very unknowledgable about how the process works and effects plants, etc. Thanks! :)
@TheLecaQueen
@TheLecaQueen Год назад
Welcome!interesting enough you are the second person to mention this. I certainly did not realise. Could be change in light conditions during recording and editing. It could also be a genuine stem colour change, the plants were going through a radical change so who knows. Maybe I should experiment with different light conditions.

Hi Nora…having watched and rewatched your videos, I am now transferring my plants into leca. I’m finding clear pots are costly and wonder if you are using them just to see roots, or can any color pot work provided it has the drainage holes? Thanks! 😊

While building up my collection of clear pots, I have some in ordinary nursery pots sitting in nutrient and the plants are doing fine - but, like Nora, I do prefer to see the roots. One thing though, I do make holes in the sides of the nursery pots with a soldering iron

Thanks for reaching out, world gone wrong. I’m just starting out with leca,obviously, and your help is greatly appreciated. I have some of my smaller plants in clear orchid pots but I’m trying to utilize what I have and have found I can use the plastic nursery pots if they are sturdy and yes, I do put holes in them, per Nora. Again, thank you 😊
