My bf is Nigerian and I’m currently pregnant with our child and I want to learn how to make Nigerian dishes so our child can experience his culture even if it’s just a bit. We just moved into a new apartment and I surprised him with this when he got home from work, it turned out so good and he kept going back for more and more😂 thank you!!
I made this for a church function, served it with jollof rice. I let the chicken marinate for the whole night, it was finger licking good 😊. Thank you dear ☺️
Hi Sisi Jemimiah. I discovered your channel last week, tried this recipe 3 days ago and I'm just getting round to tucking into this today with some rice, stir fried vegetables and roasted plantain ... and what can I say? If I could give this recipe an exponential number of likes I would! I only used one scotch bonnet though, instead of three, as a ratio of three to the number bell peppers, tomatoes and onions that you used would have been fire🔥for me. Even with one I am sniffing (with much satisfaction). Well, that's the beauty of cooking, you adjust ingredients accordingly to what your taste buds like. Thank you for sharing this recipe with the world.
Our family always cooking new dishes from every culture however Just found out my husband and are indeed Nigerian As of this year… So ever since then I’ve really been cooking more Nigerian dishes! This is amazing. I bought the Chinese 5 spice from asda but I honestly haven’t used it because I don’t know what to use it for. I have all the ingredients asides onion powder. I’ll make it this weekend . I’m so happy 😃

Alafia, i am trying your dish. everything smells so good! i am finishing it for a few hours on low in a slow cooker to further marry everything but wow. the house smells wonferful and the stew tasted great. if it comes out nearly as good as i think it will, i will use some as Adimu (offering) for my spirit fam. thank you!
Nigerian cooking uses Chinese 5 spice?!? I'm shocked and surprised but I must say this dish really looks so bright and beautiful ❤ thank you for sharing ❤
from what little i know about the Yoruba, they are very very pragmatic in all things. if something is useful or good or truth, they adopt it and make it part of their life. i couldnt find 5 spice so i use allspice and a tiny bit of fennel and some poultry season. it's finishing up now and smells so darn good. so colorful and bright and tasty.
Wonderful!!! Thanks for another delicious creative recipe. I'm usually not patient with leaving stew to cook that long but will definitely try your method as it looks amazing.
I went over your videos, I was looking for a stew with stock fish and shrimp. I wish I had paid more attention the men cooked all the food and the taste is in my mind, but getting the stock fish, smoked shrimp and other ingredients seems impossible where I live. 😭 So I just browse RU-vid till one wonderful day I see someone make this amazing dish I am craving.
What are the measurements for the seasoning? I’m preparing it now but I’m basically estimating how much of each seasoning I use. I hope this turns out well.
