You know, I just realized that the gods can take on different forms and shapes whenever they want… having a different person be a god every single season would be hilarious
In the books, they always had an eneasy relationship. Percy survived all his encounters with Zeus because he always came bearing gifts... and with friends. Thalia's familial love for Percy, Poseidon's paternal protection, Athena's wisdom and faith in her daughter's choice of friends... and partners. Percy never held back with Zeus... but he never aimed to strike him and he never cowered. He spoke the truth, Zeus *hated* that... but he respected it because it was never arrogance. It was a belief that the Gods could be better, should be better, *MUST* be better that ensured he survived the King of Olympus every time.
I swear, I could literally feel the electricity from this scene. Lance not only felt like Zeus, he actually became Zeus and he did it with such power, I literally thought my computer was going to short-circuit because of him.
Well yeah, but when your relatives are gods, it's a bit different when it comes to titles. Kronos was imprisoned thousands of years before Percy was even born, so it's not like he ever knew him before the series. While yes, he is Percy's grandfather, that's not the nature of their relationship whatsoever. Although in the final scene of this series, after waking up from a nightmare, Percy did refer to Kronos as "grandpa" to which his mom said "Don't call him that" lol
RIP Lance. the funny thing is me and a friend were discussing who will play the gods, i said not knowing it will happen, Lance as Zeus. Now that it has happened, idk what to say but we will miss him.
You know what really would have stuck in his craw if Percy actually studied Greek mythology he would have thrown oh yeah remember when your own family turned against you remember when your wife turned against you remember when Poseidon turned against you the last time remember the last time Olympus rebelled against you because of all the crap that you've done
@@LitereallyNobody7 ik but if one thing could have slipped through that would have been pretty good for Percy to throw the fact that his own family rebelled against him once imagining them doing it again because of his own stubbornness and pride it would have been a good own for Percy
Lance is/was one of the few actors who could step to the task of portraying king of the gods & properly deliver. I'm just sad we only got one season before he passed, RIP.
It’s unfortunate that we will never get a real Percy Jackson LA they always change stuff that doesn’t need to be changed, what pissed me off about this one is that annabeth didn’t really get much character, her being black is perfectly fine it’s just they didn’t direct her character well
Imagine a scenario where Percy has to find a way to explain his complicated relationships with his relatives to a mortal depending on whatever the circumstance Like “my uncle and I have a complicated relationship and my other uncle is mostly a chill dude… but their dad, my grandfather, hates my guts and theirs including my dad’s” 😂
My god the nerve of all of you who are complaining about Zeus being black. The late Lance Reddick portrayed him excellently from the book and y’all have the audacity to complain about Disney’s cast choice for Zeus.
Zeus should be Greek. I agree the actor did marvelously (I love most of his work) but Disney has a reputation now and its hard to look past their casting as anything but an agenda.
Also, that argument never happened in the book and there were other gods present in that scene in the book. Poseidon and the other gods weren’t scared of Zeus at all in the book. Percy doesn’t start trying to convince the gods to work together until later in the series. Disney is making the same mistake that the movies did a decade ago, which is rushing things too far ahead, thus resulting in them having to change the plot line to something that will not resemble the books.
@@chriskempton7751 I hate when they do that. Make changes to the original story to fit their own vision (Eragon and Avatar come to mind) or to fit into a smaller time frame ultimately ruining the whole thing as a result.
Percy Jackson the original is still the best. Sad to say Season 3 was cancelled because lack of support. I miss the Old Percy Jackson. They should have the Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse.
Season 3 hasn't been cancelled. There's been no actual news yet about s3. But at this point, they still have healthy ratings numbers so there's no reason to assume that it won't be returning after s2.
How could my percy jackson with black hair and green eyes turned into this. They shouldn't have make the film if they can't even get some actors who look at least a bit like the ones in the book. 😢 " never judge a book by it's movie"
Well, one is real and the other is fictional and not human. If ya didn't know, the gods aren't Greek nationals.. they had some not Egyptian playing an Egyptian god in stargate. Because who cares. 😂
@@s0515033 when people of a race ...worship a god..they usually visualize them as their own race. How one looks matters. And these movies are not entirely fiction...they are based on religious scriptures of a cerain race/age. If tomorrow people stop following Christianity, we should not be calling Jesus's story..fiction
@@abhishekpaul910 why do Christians depict Jesus as a blonde with blue eyes when he is clearly middle eastern Semitic? Why was gerard butler anubis in God's of Egypt? Pointing out Lance is black and cant be zeus in a fantasy movie seems strange to me given the above. And being real here; most of the bible is fiction too. Including Jesus.
@@s0515033 I have never seen Jesus depicted as a blonde in my 47 years on the Earth. in my mind, I see him as a tan skinned, dark haired man. he was Aramaic after all
You do know that the story comes from a series of books written by Rick Riordan, don't you? It's the movies that were a mess, this series is actually more similar to the books.
Might want to dive a bit deeper into the books,if memory serves me right there is some evidence that in ancient Greek literature the gods were believed to dark skinned and to frequently travel to what we call modern day Ethiopia(maybe they where just very tanned) Do agree with your point but don't believe it applies here
@@geraldgous5872 Theoretically, true...based on such, it's fascinating they didn't continue with that application of possible historical fact with all other greek portrayals. But yeah...plot twists, right?
Greeks and italians were both black…we dont know that they didnt have dark pigment to mix in with the paint, or plaster they used for statues…besides…its mythology…
Zeus has the ability to change form, and melanism could account for Zeus being black since we don’t know how deities could be affected by various things
I really really like the actor that's playing Zeus here, he's been great in everything I've seen him in since the TV show Fringe. That being said, the rass swapping of ancient historical mythical characters is really old and very very tiresome. Could they not find anyone that looks maybe, I don't know, a little more GREEK?
So could show any ancient or classical greek sources that say that zeus wasn't black, along with that zeus can change forms so why he assume a greek form when they are in America?
It said in the books that Mount Olympus moved depending on the strongest nation at that time, so originally it was in Greece since it was the origin of modern western culture, and now it's in the States. It also said that it adapted depending on where it moved. So Zeus being Black makes perfect sense to me. Plus it's also a matter of how it is portrayed, and I believe Lance Reddick did a fantastic job. He IS Zeus
