yeah they changed what happened in the amusement park, but honestly the show made it so much deeper, and i absolutely love it!!! like in the books it was more of a fun quest where we get to see more of annabeth. both are great imo but this one works better for a tv show
I like watching your reactions. I'm a fan of the books and I love the series. I love the fact that its not a carbon copy of the books but it's adapting the key themes/plot points in a new and refreshing way. Episode 5 really was one of my favourite episodes; the scene between Ares and Grover was like watching a chess game & I loved it even though it wasn't in the book. The Percy/Annabeth scenes inside the tunnel had no right making me so emotional 😢 I love the way they're slowly but surely building up their friendship & I think the actors have phenomenal chemistry together.
Fun fact: the reason why you don't remember the gold chair from the books is because instead of a chair there was a massive wave of robot spiders. Creating that many spiders was way too difficult for both CGI and practical effects, so they came up with the chair to replace them.
I am loving the slight alterations they are making, like here with an emotionally poignant scene instead of just the spiders. Very astute points in your review!
Omg, everything is spot on, even the part with Annabeth starting to open up and solving their problem by using her heart instead of her brains like usual . Also, a lot of people wanted long action sequence but the thing is they made this series more character driven and laying out the foundation to their characters and the world. We're just in season 1 and definitely will have more big action sequence in the future. They changed a lot in this episode and in the future episode you'll watch but in my opinion it made the story better and more cohesive in this medium. As a long time book fan (these books are very personal to me), I'm very happy with the show so far. It's not perfect, but there is so much heart to it that I know the people who work on this will only strive to get better in the future.
