SUBJECT: Agrius. FILM: Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters. MISSION: to create a burly, bad-ass, half man-half bear character. Like any other character suit, "Agrius" was broken down into components that ultimately had to fit onto performer Tom Woodruff, Jr., allow for best movement, and look believable in front of the camera. Here is an in-depth look at how we did that for Agrius, from the muscle suit to the fully haired-up animatronic head...

Wow. Just wow. Another incredible creation of beauty and horror replaced by CGI. Damn it. Damn those studio heads! I can't believe such a character didn't make it. I will never see this movie for all the injustice they've done.

They need to make a Werewolf full animatronics, without cgi , that would be a revolution from cheap cgi, people wants to see realism.American Werewolf in London looks so realistic than all other cgi Werewolfs.

Take a look at the Underworld series. Granted just the head is animatronics but I think the werewolves (despite not having the stereotypical 'werewolf' look), look amazing!

Oho, I feel Tom's pain. Those suits are often an exercise in discomfort. Looks cool, though.

Yeah, unfortunately even though it's great to have something practical to achieve the realism, but in these cases, suits maybe quite uncomfortable and takes a toll with your air supply and strength, this comes from my experience from acting inside animatronic werewolf and gorilla suits. It's shame though that ADI is spending all this hard work and in the end, most of it is replaced by CG that's not even realistic. I support Tom, Alec, and everyone at ADI all the way to keep bringing practical effects.

I love the design of this guy, damned shame it didn't make the movie aye. Whats the point of calling a film the sea of monsters if you cut out all the bloody monsters!? Though hell eh its at least a great piece to the collection, would love to have him standing in my front door way entrance to greet visitors.

I'm sorry that this burly bad ass creature didn't make it to the movie Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters. Digitally created creatures hardly ever look truly real as they always miss an element of realism. The latest planet of the apes movies were cool but they lacked that element that the previous non digital but costumed brought to the screen.
