I met Percy Sledge about 15 years ago, when he was performing at a street festival in Sanford, Florida. He was surprised (but pleased) when the Chief of Police asked him to perform Take Time to Know Her.

I met Percy in Austin, Texas in 1998 and he was with his big bitches and we talked for a few minutes before a show. I told him I thought THIS was his best song over and above his hit WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN. He actually agreed with me. It is a fine song with a t great message in light of all the divorces today.
