New HD footage of Exeter's Peregrine Falcons. Recorded at 6-30am on 15th June 2011. Sorry if a bit shaky; I was using a handheld camera on maximum zoom.
They usually start nesting in February or March. Last year the nest was inside the tower. They entered and exited through a hole on the south-east facing side, ie the side facing the City Centre car parks. At the moment a large adult peregrine is regulary perched in that hole, I see it most days. It is clearly visible from anywhere to the south east of the tower.
I pass the church quite often. I haven't seen any activity for a couple of weeks now, though the falcons were there all through the winter. I'll post another reply here when I see them again.
When do they start nesting? Also is there usually a side of the tower they prefer? I have a perfect view of the tower from the south, probably could see really well with a half descent telescope, im just on the south bank of the exe
Thought you might want to see some super close-up footage I took of one of the Exeter Peregrine Falcons eating a pigeon just a few metres away from me. If you don't know what this means, check my video list you can't miss it. ?v=lepOPTbSreo
Thats ace mate. We got some ontop of our Cathedral in Lincoln. Too high up to see really but there are a few sparrowhawks and kestrels around. Wonder if they choose religious buildings cos theyre birds of pray...... Sorry ;)
