Just a suggestion only, what about trying to oil & blow dry it, and plaiting it up afterwards? This was my mom's method for doing her fro when I was a kid growing up. Then when she would take it down it would be so bouncy, shiny just like a crown on her head. Then she would plait it up at night again. Your fro is beautiful also.✊🏾
I love this..the fact that ur embracing ur 4c hair and just feelin it is amazing..u don’t see a lot of men or just guys in general with a fro that big✊🏾❤️❤️❤️amazing
Kuron J I’ve been struggling with finding a new hairstyle. I’ve been rocking the afro for years lol and I can’t seem to give it up😭. Ima go with an Afro part and this video is going to help me start treating my 4C hair with more respect. Thank you🙌🏾👏🏾
What's even better is seeing women like yourself who love seeing men with their natural hair. Most women want men to get a haircut because they call it that "grown man" look and it baffles me because I didn't know a hairstyle could make someone grown..
I’ve only been growing my hair out for 8mo and man I didn’t think it was so much to do to maintain, now I see why women take so long doing their hair before going places...😭😭
Women who wear their hair loose. If you put it in braids, or Cornrows it's 2 minutes and you're done. I could not do what he's doing as my daily style, maybe once in a while, but if it was necessary? Id just shave my hair lol. Tampering with your hair like this also leads to breakage for some people with fine strands hence the braids when you're on a hair journey or just want to have healthy hair
The title is legit, not click bait. I'm so happy! This came out so well. I do not regret clicking on this. It reminded me how beautiful our hair can be with proper care. Also gave me the motivation to keep going. 🙂
@@FroJohnson When your hair grows into a twa or longer, as a black man, you're constantly questioned, given weird looks and whatnot. Even by your family. Told to trim your hair to look more representable or whatever. It can be discouraging. So, I hope that I keep at it. Thank you for this. It empowered me to see a man with hair similar to mine reach great length and still look good.
Tiela Leo Yeah, I went through that stage.. When I first started, everybody wanted me to cut mine off. It took a while for me to get used to dealing with it and finding what works for it, but once you find your way, it gets easier.
Nice Afro bro. I’ve been growing mine for 19 months get a lot of compliments and stares lol. People appreciate it man because too many guys shave their heads. We give them something to look at ! 💯
Kuron J It’s slightly shorter than your length. I sometimes pick it out in a Afro or sometimes I use lots of gel and warm water and scrunch it until it hangs and becomes super curly. I spend a lot of products and time to style it, but it’s worth it. I figure why not since I don’t have any greys yet and always wanted to see how my hair would look long. Also when you are older you look back at your young self with long hair it’s cool man !
Terrel Owens Ohh okay, that’s cool, see mine is not curly like that... I’d have to do things to my hair to make it curly, but when I do, it looks good! 👌🏾
This warms my heart. It's so good to see black brothas taking the time to appreciate and nurture themselves and what God gave them. You are a beautiful man! God bless.
His hair crazy long and thick, real healthy hair. I don't want my hair that long though. My maintain hair length round 7 inches. But this is an inspiration. Great job!
Definitely giving me that soulful 70's/80's vibes.. I was wondering how long have you been growing your hair out and during the process did you get it tapered or any edge ups or did you only clean up your beard? Thank you in advance my brotha..🙏🏾✊🏾
Nerdbama Rich I been growing it for about 10 years now.. I’ve cut it down and trim it every now and then, but I’ve never did a taper cut or anything like that lol that was never my style.🤣
@@FroJohnson thank you for the response my brotha I appreciate it. I've always enjoyed having longer hair as well and I'm in the process of growing mine out again but I mistakenly went and got a taper on it yesterday and man I don't like it..lol.. it's cool and looks okay but for whatever reason it takes away from the natural afro look. I'm growing mine out so I can get two strand twists or box braids. Would it be possible to see you do a tutorial with your hair in box braids or two strand twist?
Nerdbama Rich Ahh, I see lol. Mistakenly though! 🤣🤣🤣 That must’ve been horrible! Lol but yeah of course! Thank you for the suggestion! Especially since it’s still a little warm, one of those styles would be nice to wear.
@@FroJohnson lol oh yea I know man it was definitely a mistake though. I've done it a few times in the past thinking I really wanted that style but don't really like the way it fits my head. I prefer a full fro. Can't wait to check out those two strand or box braids videos in the future..🙏🏾✊🏾
Now that’s what I call a natural black Afro. Many people put too much products that forces the texture of their hair to change. This is just og enough for me. Thanks!
I prefer not come mine very finely. I just come with that one orange multi purpose comb. 😂😂😂. Let it air dry and just fluff and shape until I wash it again. When it’s combed all the way out it doesn’t hold as much height and looks to wide.
Kuron J, you are a very handsome black man. I love your Afro and your beard. I am also rocking my fro. Us Black People should be very thankful and proud of our WOOLY HAIR. Our hair is our connection to our HEAVENLY FATHER. DANIEL CHAP 7, VERSES 9-14. Our HEAVENLY FATHER ALSO HAS WOOLY HAIR. Thank you Bro for this Excellent video.Peace and Blessings To You And Family.👑💜💙💕🌟
This is very inspiring to me, I never see ANYONE with a Afro in my area and I always feel like I’m getting looks bc I have a Afro, but thank you for showing that all hair types and styles are amazing🤍
Chris Makes Vids, Wow! Thank you so much! ✊🏾 I would also feel like this at times because I didn’t see too many fros where I’m from either. I’m glad to have been inspiring to you because I, myself have searched for Afro and natural hair inspirations for a long time and it makes me happy to hear that I can be an inspiration too.. Keep rockin it tho for as long as you want to! You and your fro is awesome and don’t let nobody tell you different.. 🙌🏾
We have the exact same hair texture. I’ve been growing my hair for 4 years & this is the very first one that I’ve seen on how to make a healthy Afro with 4c hair from a guy. The struggle has been real to say the least. THANK YOU!!! Definitely liked & subscribed...
Immediately one of my fav videos I've ever watched on hair. So nice to finally see someone with my hair texture but grown to the length that I want. Thanks a ton for making this video!
We need more of these videos Kuron J. I'm tired of women dominating this field. Lol. ..but please make more of your daily routine for the beard care and night routine for hair. And growth and maintenance.....get the channel going g
Best Afro tutorial I've seen! You mentioned the oil, the comb and pic, the plastic bag secret! 😁 Everything! Great job! The fro and beard are on point!
Randomly came across this just now, thanks so much for sharing! I can’t even begin to think about how much time, care, and effort it takes to maintain your hair. Loved the video and loved watching the process!
The struggle is real 😂 that's me often; patting, picking and pulling l0L. Picking with the hand at the top of the head acting as a borderline, haha.. It gets aggravating at times, but... When you finally get the look you were going for it's worth it l0L. Nice fro btw bro
I don't really see boys with fros as much. Its usually braided , they have waves, or they get a cut. My father has a fro too and use to have dreadlocks.
Nana Poku, To me, it’s actually one of the easiest but my hair can be very stubborn sometimes, smh... I appreciate that though! I was struggling in this vid to do this style, but it turned out to not be too bad! 👌🏾
I'm a blak girl looking for tips and motivation for having a afro and I must say u are handsome and I love your hair friend. Beautiful black people like you are really encouraging me today because really. Long black hair is just magical
Adonis Zaire, I know the feeling of searching for one lol. 🙏🏾 and somewhat yes. I do like using heat for my hair sometimes cause it allows products to absorb into the hair easier. Some of my favorite ways are steam from a damp warm/hot cloth(w/ plastic bags) and blow dryers I use sometimes, but not usually directly on the hair.
Zell the lone wolf Lol, I’ve definitely heard that one before.. I’ve been growin mine out for about 10 years. It’s good to keep it twisted tho, that’s one of my favorites ways I was able to get growth!
@@auni6595 It’s actually common, but very shunned upon by society. Most people have curly hair, statistically. Some Afros may not look like a black individuals, but still can achieve the style.
Pilot, Wow thank you! 🙏🏾 It’s funny cause in this video, I didn’t have one but I’m working towards my routine more and more now and I almost have it together but not just yet lol!
Joyce Woodruff, Thanks for watching this! 🙏🏾 I don’t always use the same amount of products. Sometimes I use less. For this style and day specifically, I wanted to use more. And also, I actually like the processes that I go through in order to care for my hair. I find that a lot of other people, including woman couldn’t treat it as well as I can because I’ve become educated and practiced on myself for several years.
Thanks man. I’m 31 and finally deciding to try and take care of my hair. I’ve been you tubing videos for the past couple of days. This was a good one...not just this yours, but just in general. It all seems overwhelming. With all the different products and routines and dedication you have to have for your hair. I hope I can stick with it. And products and a routine that works for me. Thanks! *hits ‘like’ button*
Marquest Smith, That’s what’s up! Thank you for tuning in to this vid. It can be overwhelming only if you let it be. It can be simpler with effort. Main things you need is a good shampoo and conditioner. Oils of your choice (my favorites are olive oil & coconut oil), a good leave-in conditioner or styling creme (sometimes depending on how you wanna style your hair), maybe a grease or pomade that you like.. Even Shea butter is good to just work with that. In this vid, the pomade that I used is by far one of my favorite products. I’ve been using that since like 2017. I have it linked in the description box as well. (It’s an affiliate link.) I always say it takes time and patience with this stuff but you’ll definitely get there if you’re trying your best to get what’s the healthiest option for your hair. If you’re looking to grow out your hair, try protective styling and ensure that you’re using the proper products to maintain the hair and you’ll be good for the most part. Thank you again for tuning in and all the best to you on your hair journey!
To all my brothers this is the way your hair should look if you're going to let it just grow out and if you don't want to take all of this TIME to style it the way that he did just go to the shop and have them to shape your hair up!!! I'd rather see it look like this than some of this roll out of bed looked y'all have been doing... Trust clean and healthy hair it's nothing like it and that's FOR my sisters too!!!
Will Cee, Well, simply cause it’s not necessary. It would also cause unnecessary build up on the scalp. Leave in conditioner is used for styling hair/defining curls. Simply water and oils, pomade(grease), or maybe Shea Butter is fine for the scalp. Leave-in or rinse-out conditioners should not be placed on the scalp. All the scalp needs is to be cleaned and properly moisturized after a wash. For example, I use olive oil on the scalp and hair immediately after a wash so my head/hair won’t dry out so bad.
@@willcee4966 No problem, hope you find them helpful! And by the way you can also try to “pre-poo.” This is when you put oil in your hair prior to washing it. It helps the hair not dry out so much after it is washed and also some other good benefits.
